FINALLY FOUND IT!! Oh man, I remember watching my best friend's brother play this when I was a kid. I never knew the name but the shadow creature in the background has haunted me for ALL MY LIFE!! ..But now, I can finally rest.. Yay for wonderful memory and the internet!
wow... What a piece of art, putting this in the context of 1990... It blew everyone away. I was blown away, and I never got further than the first 7 minutes of this video.
Eric et Jean-Francois made my childhood sweeter. This game was truly outstanding and far away of the time. No joke, how could two guys achieve that masterpiece - chapeau claque !! It was an amaing experience playing it - big thanx!!!
It was really hard, but the hardest part was when I got TOO GOOD with the gun and was killing a bad-guy alien too fast... I got stuck for days on that.
It's been almost 30 years since i played this as a kid, i remember how much fun it was and how new and fascinating it felt, but i didn't see it through an adult's eyes until now, it's a beautiful work of art.
This game brings back some great memories from my childhood. I've been wondering for so long what this called! At the time I had Wolfenstein 3D, Dave, a banana throwing game where you each take turns trying to hit the other gorilla by typing the correct angle and velocity, and my favorite, The Secret of Monkey Island!!!
This is one of my favorite games ever, still, to this day. I can't explain how awesome it was to finally see a game that had so many different scenes, locations, elements, weapons, and puzzles.
well I think the only crucial segment for the kick is the leeches, I just jumped over them for the first time I played this game about 3 years ago, but now I just found out by chance :D it saves me a couple of hours frustrations :D
So good this game... Love it!! ❤❤❤ memories come to my mind :') I was a very young child when I spent hours and hours a day trying to win this game :) it was very stressful but it was magnificent ❤
This game still holds up. The guy wrote a vector graphics editor for the cutscenes. Amazing! All the subtle details, all the effects, pure awesome! I love the ripple effects underwater and stuff. I don't even know where to start if I wanted to make something similar today, not even back on the Amiga.
Ive just been taken back! The good old days, those days were just brilliant,I remember staying up all night trying to conquer this game on the amiga! I played this game as the sun came up! A truly memorable experience!
+nslaven The graphics still blow my mind, especially the scene at the "swimming pool" with the tentacle creature. :P and the view when you get to the top with the escalator. :)
Games like this are the reason me and my imagination grew interested in story telling and writing. The alien world atmosphere is magnificent, and I love the idea that the story goes on with no dialogue at all, but you still understand it all.
One of the best games of all time for me. Definitely a formative part of my youth, and finishing this game was up there as one of the my hardest gaming achievements ever :)
Great stuff, this one of my all time favorite games for the Amiga, my buddy and I couldn't put the game down until we beat it. The game was very original and you didn't know what to expect. That part in the beginning was a perfect example, I sat there for a good couple of minutes trying to figure out how to get out until I realized the cage would swing if you slowly moved the stick back and fourth.
I actually had trippy dreams after playing this game when I was a kid, no joke :) Like for instance, that view, when you use the elevator to get to the top 6:35, it's like both nostalgic and full of wonder, I really slept well when I had those type of scenery in my dreams. Tough to explain unless you actually experienced it, a bit like being on shrooms, but more awesome.
very interesting, sounds like some sort of lucid dream/astral projection kind of thing, one thing i would recommend is that you write down or draw everything that you remember from your dream ( kinda like a dream journual ) when you "exspiriment" or treat your dreams like that, you are most likely going to remember more of them
+Zendium Artwork Nah. To be honest, it was less of a lucid dream, and more of a "warm pleasant sleep experience". When I was dreaming all this trippy stuff as a 6 year old in 2000, I was not aware that I was in a dream. Listen, imagine it's mid-June, and it's 6 a.m. you are lying in bed, you can feel the bright sunrise in real-life by that time already (even if you haven't yet 100% woken up). NOW, since it was only 6 a.m, why should I just wake up, I was too comfortable in my bed (and more importantly, it was still early in the morning). This comfort allowed me to go back to sleep again, while the brain processed the warm sunrise at the same time, and it was during this time, that when I fell asleep again, the trippy images from this game popped into my head during non-deep sleep. It was more about the mental experience, than it was about WHAT exactly what was going on. It's about what I was FEELING during that time too. The real-life sunrise had a lot to do with creating the images during the non-deep sleep. Also, during this phase in the dream, the game's OST was playing at the back of my mind too.
What I love about this game is the atmosphere, it is very abrupt to the point and no frills. Things just seem so cold and empty and mysterious. Also the obstacles you face are on the whole simple ideas - yet make the game so great and compliment the atmosphere.
My friend, you are NOT WRONG! I was pretty young when I last played this. Took me forever to get past the caves... and only got a little further than that. Couldn't beat the shootout with the two aliens. Today is the first time I've seen it right through! Ah, nostalgia!
While true I'd say this is difficult in the wrong way. Compare it to another difficult game of the 80's or early-90's like Castlevania or Mega Man. In both of those the difficulty is crushing but in a way that makes you feel like it's your fault for not being good enough at the game and that your skill is directly effecting whether you live or die. In this however the difficulty stems from just being blatantly unfair until you figure out the single way the developers intended a screen to be beaten, you don't feel like you had any chance like those games, you feel like you would have died no matter what until you've drilled the games pattern into your skull. It's a beautiful game for its time but I do feel games where you feel like it's the game and not you at fault for your death aren't that fun.
Even today theres something special about this game... I always loved the cover artwork and music it seems like a lot of emotion went into making this a memorable game.
Thanks for making this longplay, it's very nice to see it as film (without stress on joystick ;). It was (or it is!) a really damn great piece of soft for the Amiga, and a game made mostly by one man (!). Great ideas & great workshop, respect. Amiga rulez!
THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD!!! what a memory ... when I see it now you can see how advanced that was for its time, I was hooked at this game at the time. jeeeesus sooo long ago hehehehe.
Wow does this ever bring back memories. I remember making it all the way to those f'ing tunnels on my first try. Then dying lord knows how many times. Finally once I made it through I somehow made it through that insane final firefight. I remember trying it again and those side shots are real lol. Thank you for posting this.
It's actually called Out of This World. I remember this game was a hit. My friend couldn't beat a part because it was so hard. He called a Nintendo specialist and it was like 5 dollars a minute. he was begging his mom lool. those were the days ...
This game didn't buy its maker a Ferrari, but he'll sure have my personal eternal grattitude. You did open a portal to another world for me, it was long ago and still I remember
I had this on the SNES back in the day. I always thought it was a great game but was probably too young to fully appreciate it. Looking at it now, its easy to see just how revolutionary it was. And all the work of one man. What a game
It looks so easy, watching this play out. 22 years ago, in college, it took far too much of my, my suitemate, and friend's time... It was great fun, watching this play out over some 22 odd minutes that which previously took a team effort, months to accomplish. Well done!
Oldie but damn goodie. This game is really unforgetable, the animation was an awesome achievement for this time, and all the esthetic behind this game is just marvelous (even the box cover, drawn by Eric Chahi himself, is amazing).
Wow, INTENSE. I played this when I was much younger, but it was damn hard and I didn't get beyond the first couple of gunfights. It's always stayed in my memory though, because of the sense of mystery, and the art style. It's nice to be able to see the whole game now, thanks for this video.
This game is a work of art. So simple and so much better than some of the million-dollar games you see today. (Kudos for this gamer as well. Some skills!)
Fantastic, one of the hardest games i ever played. I'm going to go on ebay now and find an Amiga 500 and lock myself in a room for a couple of days. Great music at the end, games were just... better back in the day.
Classic game from back in the day - loving the music at the end too.......remember it being quite difficult and needing quite a few magazine tips to get me all the way through!
Without question one of the coolest video game intros ever.
Back in the days, I was so immersed into that game that I was thinking about it all the time. One of the best gaming experience I ever had.
Im so impressed by the aesthetic of this game, it looks as if it could be an indie title from this generation.
@Frogger What is wrong with you?
Considering how many times you replied to this comment in assuming you don't have a lot going on with your life lmao
@Frogger you're so mad lmaooo
Just a vicious, pathetic person
FINALLY FOUND IT!!
Oh man, I remember watching my best friend's brother play this when I was a kid. I never knew the name but the shadow creature in the background has haunted me for ALL MY LIFE!!

Yay for wonderful memory and the internet!
Sweet story...
I love the way a scientist driving to work does a power slide into the car park. :)
wow... What a piece of art, putting this in the context of 1990... It blew everyone away.
I was blown away, and I never got further than the first 7 minutes of this video.
Finally after 20 years I got to see the end of this awsome game from the past. Thanks
Eric Chahi, thanks for making my childhood a little bit more awesome with this work of art.
One of the BEST into's to a game I think off all time. This intro was the bench mark for all games to Aspire too.
Eric et Jean-Francois made my childhood sweeter. This game was truly outstanding and far away of the time.
No joke, how could two guys achieve that masterpiece - chapeau claque !!
It was an amaing experience playing it - big thanx!!!
This definitely ranks in the top 5 games ever released on the Amiga, in any genre. Completely ground breaking.
One of the greatest stories I've ever heard and one of the most beautiful music I've ever listened.
this game was extremely hard back when i was a kid but JBG made it look easy. thanks for finally completing the game that I never accomplished.
+Jake Chang Heh, it wa shard as hell back then, there wasn't much of any hints as to what you needed to do :p
WOW!!! What a complete trip seeing that:)

Not only would this have blown my mind... it still does that this was even possible back then. So damn cool.
This game was amazing. They really don't make stuff like this anymore. First time playing, I got really immersed into it.
Lots of indi games are doing this sort of stuff, and have all through the years, but this game was indi beore indi was a thing.
This game was way ahead of its time. Epic!
it's so impressive when you realise the whole game was made by one guy
yeah, and i got it in one diskette!
Watch this /watch?v=fUxunNnFLAA
Yeah and a french man ! :p
This is one of my favorite games ever, still, to this day. I can't explain how awesome it was to finally see a game that had so many different scenes, locations, elements, weapons, and puzzles.
Hell yeah
THERE WAS A KICK BUTTON?!?!?!
GOD DAMMIT
***** Bwaaahahahahah
***** Never found that out either, I was like 5 at the time.
Awww. It must have taken you ages without kick??
Lol oh dear.
well I think the only crucial segment for the kick is the leeches, I just jumped over them for the first time I played this game about 3 years ago, but now I just found out by chance :D it saves me a couple of hours frustrations :D
Semplicemente UNICO!!! Che spettacolo rivederlo su Amiga. Graficamente meraviglioso come un tramonto, .. Chissa dove sono volati...
Nagubaloooo
Miss u
richard ansaloni Era l'Amiga il vero Another World.....
This game..... this intro.... nearly 20 years ago i played it on my Amiga 500 with 512kb of RAM.... its so epic
if that's true...then you'd know that it's not called "another world"
This was truly a great game, felt like being in a movie, really good gameplay and good cutscenes too!
So good this game... Love it!! ❤❤❤ memories come to my mind :') I was a very young child when I spent hours and hours a day trying to win this game :) it was very stressful but it was magnificent ❤

The fact that this game has the greatest crotch-kick moment in videogame history hasn't been discussed yet.
14:20
It doesn't need much talk, though. Still looks funny.
Thanks for posting this. I loved this game. It gave me such hope for the future of gaming. It was so ground breaking at the time.
made by two people... awesome...

Ive just been taken back! The good old days, those days were just brilliant,I remember staying up all night trying to conquer this game on the amiga! I played this game as the sun came up! A truly memorable experience!
I remember this game. It's the game where EVERYTHING wanted to kill you.
Good old Amiga 500, and the best game for this comp. Good old times RIP
Holy fuck those are some good graphics for the time!
BLEW MY MIND WHEN I RENTED IT ON SNES
+nslaven
The graphics still blow my mind, especially the scene at the "swimming pool" with the tentacle creature. :P and the view when you get to the top with the escalator. :)
Jinigosoti Game-Clips Sadly when I played this game young, I never got passed the laser guys at the start.
Kippy Kip
ah you mean, right after you escape the cage?
Jinigosoti Game-Clips Yeah after you break out of the cage is where I got stuck as a little kid.
Games like this are the reason me and my imagination grew interested in story telling and writing. The alien world atmosphere is magnificent, and I love the idea that the story goes on with no dialogue at all, but you still understand it all.
This game is so complicated. Holy crap.
One of the best games of all time for me. Definitely a formative part of my youth, and finishing this game was up there as one of the my hardest gaming achievements ever :)
the use of limited color in this games graphics is beautiful!
Great stuff, this one of my all time favorite games for the Amiga, my buddy and I couldn't put the game down until we beat it. The game was very original and you didn't know what to expect. *this. is. art.*
be a quantum physicist they said. it'll be fun they said.
What a mind blowing game. The game mechanics were so incredibly well thought out. And of course the graphics are unforgettable.
Art looks so good it doesnt look lime and old gane.
What I love about this game is the atmosphere, it is very abrupt to the point and no frills. Things just seem so cold and empty and mysterious. Also the obstacles you face are on the whole simple ideas - yet make the game so great and compliment the atmosphere.

Hard to believe this game was developed in the 80s.
And that's OK because it was made in 1991.
uno dei giochi piu belli in assoluto sull'amiga 500.l'avevo finito.un avventura fantastica.quanti ricordi.grazie del video.
Still the best gun ever in gaming
O M G. This bring back memories. Hearing the sounds, remembering the game, it gives me chills.

5:35 we used to call aliens Madjoobas cus of that speech lol
I still randomly quote those lines (the guard a minute earlier) to this day but I would always say 'MyteSuBahhh'
The man who created this game is a genious. The graphics and the palette are awesome !
I realize now where HalfLife was inspired from
Thanks for making this longplay, it's very nice to see it as film (without stress on joystick ;). It was (or it is!) a really damn great piece of soft for the Amiga, and a game made mostly by one man (!). Great ideas & great workshop, respect. Amiga rulez!
If they ever make a movie out of this game, they should get Keanu Reeves to play as Lester :D
StygianTraveler141
hi? Do I know you?
i like keanu too, but jesus dude. have some sense of imagination or originality. it would be better with a complete unknown.
THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD!!!
what a memory ... when I see it now you can see how advanced that was for its time, I was hooked at this game at the time. jeeeesus sooo long ago hehehehe.
and they took intergalactic gay marriage...

Very hard game
great atmosphere and visual art. fond memories of this

+Max Cooper
did the expert help?
It was called Out of This World in America, In Europe it was called Another World.
I remember this ages ago! Never got past the part where he met the beast, was too young to figure it out. So glad to see it in it's entirety.
23 mins play time what a rip off. I was about 9 years old when I first played this damn it was hard this guy makes it look piss easy!
This game didn't buy its maker a Ferrari, but he'll sure have my personal eternal grattitude. You did open a portal to another world for me, it was long ago and still I remember
One of the first games that I played as a kid! :))) aaaaaahhhhh, the memories! Thanks mate!
never finished this game way back when. amazing getting it all done without dying (didn't look edited). and finally seen the ending. brill stuffs!!
I had this on the SNES back in the day. I always thought it was a great game but was probably too young to fully appreciate it. Looking at it now, its easy to see just how revolutionary it was. And all the work of one man.
What a game
This game is much beyond it's time. Very great artwork and concept.
What amazes me is what a superb computer the Amiga was. Incredible for its time.
"Good evening professor"
"I see you have driven here in your Ferrari."
Definitely science fiction
This was an all time classic!!! takes me back to my amiga days.
It looks so easy, watching this play out. 22 years ago, in college, it took far too much of my, my suitemate, and friend's time... It was great fun, watching this play out over some 22 odd minutes that which previously took a team effort, months to accomplish. Well done!
What a beautiful game. A genuine work of art!
Great Vid, what made me search for this was a distant memory of the end music I'm glad you played it throught the credits.
Cheers.
Wow, watching this made me feel so nostalgic. Those were the times. *tears*
Oldie but damn goodie. This game is really unforgetable, the animation was an awesome achievement for this time, and all the esthetic behind this game is just marvelous (even the box cover, drawn by Eric Chahi himself, is amazing).
Guy, that game is perfect ! One hundred times better than games which we have now ! Thanks for upload that movie, I've added it to favorites !
Wow, INTENSE.
I played this when I was much younger, but it was damn hard and I didn't get beyond the first couple of gunfights. It's always stayed in my memory though, because of the sense of mystery, and the art style.
It's nice to be able to see the whole game now, thanks for this video.
I think I need to get back into games
Watching this was seriously better than anything on tv
thanks for all the good old memories. simple game with wonderful storyline
brilliant game for its time, animation was top notch and the atmosphere n gamepley were amazin..... miss those days......
This game is a work of art. So simple and so much better than some of the million-dollar games you see today. (Kudos for this gamer as well. Some skills!)
This is a best games of the computer's history
Truly one of the Best and most atmospheric games Ever
The Graphics and animation were simply out of this world back then !!!
the atmosphere and feeling of this game is some of the best ever!
Takes some serious skill to play the game like this. Bravo!
One of the first and greatest endings I'd seen as a kid. Loved it then and still love it now. The music is both sad and uplifting at the same time.
I loved this game, back in the day. Amazed that it can be finished in about 20 minutes. It must've taken me weeks.
This game was the very definition of awesome back in the day. I'd never experienced anything like it. Good memories.
Great, strange and weird atmosphere. Nice artistic touch. When I play this game I am somewhere else.
Brilliant.
I was so enamored with this game when I was a kid. To this day it's one of the coolest games I've ever played.
One of my favourite childhood games of all time... This and Flashback.
