To everyone who says i suck, you do not understand the purpose of what this video is about, its NOT about owning the enemy, its about showing all the possibilities this game offers, all ways you can die, all moves, etc....
So anyone who comments that i suck will get blocked, not because he is correct that i play "bad" in this video, but for not reading this video info before commenting!
One of my favorite 2 player games - i always played this with friends. -

This really brings back memories. I used to play this all the time on my A500!
me too
after the school i visit every day a friend and we played it, nice memorys :)
For the first time, a game where world of longplays play worse than me.
Tip: Against the computer, just use the horsemen and ignore the rest. Quickly charge and slice all of them, starting from cannon. You never lose a battle, even with one horse against a whole army.
I can't tell you how much I loved this game back in the day - bloody classic!
Tears in my eyes... time simply flies...
and it's been almost 30 years ago that I played this game thanks to a cousin of mine who had an Amiga 500 in the early 90's...
Simple times that don't come back anymore
OMG this game was my childhood xD
haha same here, so many hours playing this with my brother on Amiga!!
this was my first game ever on the amiga 500. i had much fun playing it. it was very good. first day i played it in monochrome because i plugged the cable to the monitor in the wrong place. on the next day i tried again and was very happy to play it with colours^^
oh wow that reminds me i did the exact same thing with batman, I'd bought the batman amiga 500 pack and for much of the first day I played it in black and white, we were going to take it all back before realising what I'd done wrong.
good story
I absolutely loved this game when I was a kid. It probably helped that it was the only Amiga game I owned that worked consistently.
This brings back some great memories - loved this game, especially playing with 2-players, while drunk. So many strategy games were boring as hell on the 16-bits, North and South made up for it.
Childhood memories coming back... Thanks for uploading :D
Great game!!, but you are a bad player
He’s not very good is he, no wonder Germany most lost so many wars
I LOVED this game!! One of my faves growing up!! Funny how I’ve just been playing red dead redemption 2 and how games have changed over time. Still, this had amazing playability and the thing about games back then, u could use your imagination (a bit like reading a book because you had limited data) and that’s why I loved these titles 💚 ps thanks for uploading
Hehe, at first I thought you'd never click on the photographers butt ;-). I spent ages on this game :-).
one of my favorite games thanks for the upload, takes me back 20 years
Thanks for up loading this, i spent many afternoons playing this with my mate when we were kids. The sounds bring back so many memories. You put a smile on my face today:)
They should make this in to an App
great job!
all animations & sounds i loved back in the days are included in 1 vid
I used to play this game for hours on the NES. I always thought the fort and train levels were excessively unforgiving. It just moved too quickly. Another great longplay cubex55!
It was the first video game I played when I was a child! I was 6 or 7 years old. A fantastic moment!
Always had great fun with this game!
Great longplay, thanks for showing all the features! (except the train hijack)
my god - its been nearly 20 years since i last saw this! i used to love it and played it for hours!
used to love the music sequences.
Does somebody know how to retreat from battle? (Esc doesn't work for me.) Or how to not move with an army (on the map) if you don't want to move?
Weiß jemand, mit welcher Tastenkombination man sich von einer Schlacht zurückziehen kann? (Esc funzt beim mir net.) Oder wie man mit einer Armee (auf der Karte) sich nicht bewegen muß, wenn man nicht will?
Thanks for adding this video on youtube, It was my favourite game on amiga when I was a child. I didnt remember the title of this, but it was about 15 years ago.... I used to play it with my borther all the time, Thanks again for the great memories :)
I had forgotten about this gem! The only strategy game of this type that I actually enjoyed.
I had forgotten about this gem! The only strategy game of this genre that I actually enjoyed.
6:45 LOL, those three soldiers against a lonely rider. Tense and exciting like an action movie!
God damn this video just took me back. Just the music and sounds
Well spent childhood :D
So many fond memories of playing this game with my brother
Thank you man, great video, and well played ScHlAuChi
Empire Total War, 30 years ago! lol. I loved this game, especially due to the awesome sounds it made.
Thanks so much for posting this. I've tried emulators and such but it's so good just to watch a nostalgic "movie" of old Commodore times. This game really got me into learning about the US civil war when I was a kid. So much so, I'm actually part of a civil war reinactmant group nowadays in the UK (they do exist over here!) Got the Kepi hat and jacket, yet to buy the horse and pants/boots yet though...
i have been meaning to make a game like this for ages, great memories
wow so many memories. thanks for uploading
Great video - I love the game!! Brings back memories - I always played the South :-)
what do the various options do? I've never seen the thunder cloud do anything or the cheif
Soooo good memories with this game. Magic 1996-1997 :))))
I love this game! Takes me right back to my childhood! :-))))
oh my god one of the best games of all times
used to play it against my cousins so often...
thanks you so much...
I see, I was hoping it was something like that. Well, I'm kinda relieved to hear it, hahaha.
Good luck with your gaming and thanks again for posting a video of this game :)
i still have no idea how its possible to move the artillerie forward. sometimes it happens.
Ah, it's good to see this old game in action again :) Me and a friend used to design specific scenarios by cutting down units so only horses, riflemen etc remained.
One of my greatest times on a videogame with a friend in the 2 players mode... Endless laughing !
I love this game, thank you very much for Longplaying it!!!!
6 un grande, mi hai fatt ricordare tenti bellissimi momenti davanti alla mia amata amiga. Grande!
played this game so much as a kid, love it. my new GF took me to a comic store and i bought some of comics, to fill up my collection ^^ im so in love with this all over again!
Oh waaaah 😮 my father played there for a long time in the evening with a friend. I still remember the sound effects of this game. I miss my amiga 500 my first console before megadrive
Amiga 500 and Atari ST were COMPUTERS not consoles !!
anyone have any idea? where i can download this game and play with PC?
@reptilemtk
Hey mate a tricky question...
It's either played on a real amiga with floppy disks or you play it on an amiga emulator on pc or whatever console, mac uses an amiga emulator....You can play it with the keyboard or the joystick....
And it's a multi-language version....You can choose the language in the beginning....
I love this game so much, thanks for posting the vid : )
Used to love this. Great video thanks
I'm so glad you clicked on the photographers arse, I don't even need to watch the rest of the video, you've made my day. Cheers :)
Ah... memories... One of the best games for Amiga. I also had hard times conquering fortresses or hijacking trains. :)
aw, tears came to my eye, when I saw this. still seems familiar after 15 years. The very first comupter game I ever played on my brothers amiga. I was 6 and didnt even know what it was about, but I thought It was amazing.
Thanks for the video!
One of my favourite games ever!!
WOW what memories, this is the most game I used to play on the amiga.
i downloaded winUAE and the game. I can start and run it but when i fight how tha hell do i switch units from artillery to cavallery and infantry ?
Was there a way to use 2 joysticks with Amiga? One player always had to use keys, and you couldn't get two keys activated at the same time, major disadvantage.
I was devastated when my diskette with North and South stopped working :D. Aww, good ol' memories :). Thanks man. I was playing that with my brother 15 years ago :P
I use to love to play this game with my friends when i was kid....still think its good fun.!!
been playing this on the zx spectrum its an amazing game! totally addicted
This game was so much fun, and so funny, too.
Of course, I always played for the SOUTH to win. I love the victory message one gets when overturning history. :D
Amiga 500 what a wonderful years..........
Is there anyone who can tell me how you can switch from one type of soldier to the other? I'm playing this game again and all i can use is the cannon :(
nice playtrough i have fond memories about this game
someone plays VERY badly....
+methanbreather yeah, after some practice i could win a battle with one infantry shooter only, this one really sucks..
+methanbreather Yes, indeed. My brain hurts when I see this.
methanbreather o
i read the description and its bullshit. you can show everything without sucking so hard that people get a headache from watching the video, in the first battle it took about 30 secs to even get the infantry selected, after everyone else was dead, pls...
+vitti2801 if I'm trying to show all ways you can die and so on, I definitely wouldn't threaten to block people for saying I suck or whatever. That's childish behavior.
The trick that I used during my plays with A500 was to press quickly P (pause button) to obtain a slow motion assault so I was able to jump crates and above wall holes plus to launch immedaitely knives when enemies appeared from right at least for sergeant and captain dififculty, cause corporal was a straight run with near no obstacles (all too easy)
One of the Great Ones... a true Classic!
This looks awesome!
thats the game of my childhood...thanks for sharing it :)
One of my favorite games, it is so fun to play :)
loved this game remember getting frustrated by the forts and hijacking the train!!
is it impossible to play amiga games on the com?if yes how?
Where can i find this? Loved it as a kid!
Sorry...can you help me how to switch the unit in battle?
I'm playing it on my homecade (with emulator) and i don't remember how to play. :(
Thanks!
I remember playing this game for ages (both single and multiplayer) when it came out, NOT realizing there was a key to switch units - basically just using cannon until they died or ran out of bullets, then cavalry until they died, and only then (and very rarely because they were usually dead by then) infantry. Between the group of us who had multiple Atari STs and Amigas, none of us knew and we played against each other for well over a year...
I actually found out purely by accident (hit the wrong key to retreat), and the first time i played after this against a real player, he SCREAMED when I could get my cavalry moving while my cannon were still on the field....
I'd like to see a tutorial on how to play this game. It looks pretty cool, though I'm not sure how to do anything but move units around and fight.
oh lord.....favorite.damn i forgot about this game.i loved it
Used to love that game... aaaw the nostalgia =)
Aaah the good old days. Pushing a squad of soldiers against a tree so that they packed up into one, and using the mega-machine-gun soldier to mow down the enemy.
Es un final bueno o malo?
i played this game like crazy ! really great and fun game
This game was awesome. Aah, nostalgia. I remember, in two-player mode, the one _not_ playing with joystick but with keyboard had a slight disadvantage cos' he could not use the horse weapons and move up and down at the same time. Anybody remember? Or was there a workaround?
This is... atleast the art...Is based on a Belgian/French Comic called the Bluecoats.
Good stuff.
One of my fav gamse when i was younger
One of my favourite games for the Atari st back in the day
pleae tell me the name of the military song at 11:45 !!!!!
I have to point out that that would be Lords of the Rising Sun being the predecessor of Shogun Total War. Look it up, another amiga game, that's where I remember the army banners (that slowly fill up as the armies grow, just like in Total War) from.
I played this game more often though (Lords of the rising sun had a bug for me). More favorites:
Defender of the Crown
Centurion (absolutely awesome! And just difficult enough with those Parthians attacking at some point)
Storm Across Europe
Legends
24:20 the last guy single-handedly beat the shit out of blue guy. Give that man a medal!
where i can download this game on PC?
I love this game one of my top favs and my 1# fav of all time on nes
Freaking awesome ! So much joy & humor brought to such a simple game, that was incredible fun...haha @1428
wow loved this game, great upload
Aaaaw, shit wiggah! This brings back memories!
aww god...big brother had this on his amiga...it rockt so mutch, heck even my dad who more of a computer geek then a game geek played it and we had so mutch fun...good times.
lol I wanted to say what nastyboyg said.
but other than that, cool vid. you show everything that's interesting about the game. I didn't even know there was an amiga version of this btw, so double ty
cool game... was 13 years at trhis time... and remember that these fortresses were unbeatable to me
I remember I liked to screw around in the menu, changing soldiers to different tunes and trolling the photographer constantly clicking on his arse. Also the battles, began my love with strategic games.
@cubex55 u know where i can find roms ?
I love the idea that in civil war battles, cavalry could consistently suffer 66% casualties crossing a canyon or that infantry would often suffer half their troops crossing a river.
+Dustin Koski HOW CAN YOU LOVE SUCH A REPREHENSIBLE REALITY? YOU MONSTER!
pls tell me .. how i can download this game ??
maaan i loved this game back in the days.. its so cool to see it again !!! :D wow, playing test drive on commodore, police quest... But anyone rembers that game where you were in a desert town and there were giant ants ?? it was soo exiting to play . a certain scary atmosphere
