Arguably, both Captain America and Iron man proved one another's jabs at each other wrong in their post-Avengers movies.
"Big man in a suit of armor... Take that off and what are you?" Pretty self explanatory.
"You're a laboratory experiment, Rogers. Everything special about you came out of a bottle" Cap proves he has the heart of a loyal hero even without fighting, as he shows he's willing to let Bucky kill him before fighting a friend.

The biggest thing to take away from this is the impact that the Battle for New York had on Tony. He is not terrified by falling from a wormhole or seeing lots of fighting... he is terrified because he knows someone sent Loki and that was more like a scouting force than the actual army. He becomes obsessed with what is coming and defending the earth and those he loves from that threat. That fear, that knowledge drives EVERYTHING he does from here on out (arguable everything that happens from here on out).

Nice reaction. You definitely caught the theme of this one - "Tony isn't Iron Man, Iron Man is Tony." It also has some other key points in it. 1) Tony is fighting some heavy mental anxiety issues - a.k.a. PTSD. He knows Earth won a battle against aliens, but he is stressed out believing it may not be over. 2) The shrapnel is removed from his chest. He no longer needs the mini arc reactor to survive.
There are some continuity errors in this film that drops it a few points for me. Overall the good outweighs the bad.

    • @Zoidd_Bergg
      @Zoidd_Bergg 25 днів тому

@@iamhawkeye3162 been a while since I have watched AoU, but I don't recall Tony having his suits back (MK 43, 44 and 45 do not count as obviously Tony is still Iron Man and needs his suits for the bigger threats), unless of course you are referring to the Iron Legion, which aren't suits, they are drones who's purpose is to help aid people in the midst of a battle when the avengers are too occupied to grant the safety of all civilians in the area.
Iron Man destroying his suits in this movie wasn't a case of him being done with making suits, as we are told multiple times throughout this movie, they were a distraction for him to escape from his trauma and PTSD from the battle of New York, him destroying his suits was meant to signify that he will no longer spend his time obsessively tinkering with his tech and mass creating suits to focus more on spending time with Pepper and that the only suits he will make are ones he actually needs. With MK42, the latest iteration being gone, his next suit was the MK43, 42's successor, which he needed for his team-up with the avengers, MK44 was already created as a weapon against the Hulk if it were to be needed, which in that movie, it was needed, and then lastly, MK45 was created to be more powerful than MK43 and be better equipped to take down Ultron.
      It's not a continuity error.
This is a long read and I do apologise, especially more so since this comment is a year old.

Ben Kingsley, who played the Mandarin, is one of the most skilled chameleon actors in history, and effectively ageless. He won an academy award for his portrayal of Gandhi in 1982. He was in his late thirties then, the age he appears to be in this movie. He was born in 1943 for God's sake, so just imagine how old he must have been in Iron Man 3! In his sixties! Almost 70! Dude's a legend beyond compare. There are so many movies I love him in.
The Vice President's motivation wasn't being evil, it was because he wanted his little girl to be able to be out of a wheelchair, since Killian's process could regrow lost/missing limbs. The completely wrong act for a noble-intended reason.

And I loved that they addressed the stress on mental health that this kind of life would take, even on someone as flippant and kind of arrogant as Tony. Yeh this wasn't too popular with fans when it first came out, but I was like you, in that I liked it as a change of pace and really loved seeing a movie with the theme of "if this character gets their power stripped from them, what are they actually like underneath?"
The comics would do this ALL the time, it would release issues where we just saw their human side and their life outside of superhero-land. This is a great movie. I love it too. :)

Reminds me when Snoop Dogs is accepting his Walk of Fame place and during his acceptance speech he says, “ I THANK ME, I appreciate me, I did the work, so I thank ME”. And that’s right, you created your channel and your the one did the work, it’s your personality that shines. People always thank everyone else but in all actuality Tony Stark, Snoop Dog, and yes Alex Hefner did the work. Great job.

You really, really need to watch the Marvel One Shot "All Hail the King." Us fans of the Mandarin were .... very vocal about how terribly Marvel treated the character. This short story was an apology and a promise that the real Mandarin would make an appearance.

Welcome to Phase 2! Love your enthusiasm for the MCU. One fun bit of continuity to watch for in phase 2 is that in each movie someone gets an arm cut off. Killian in this one. It is a nod to Star Wars in that in the second movie (Empire Strikes Back) Luke loses a hand.

I'm glad you understand the theme of.this movie. So many people don't like it or ask why he didn't just use all his suits in the beginning, but the whole time he stuck with Mk. 42 as a shell of armor to protect him and needing to prove that he didn't need all those others suits. Then by the end end he's like fuck it, i made them, i am iron man.

This movie is SO underrated. And I think it came up to have more sense as if advanced through the Spiderman Movies and the Man vs. Suit conflict. And it ended up as Peter making his own suit, no features or anything and coming to have to realize that SpiderMan IS Peter Parker, as Tony says at the end of this movie, as he IS Ironman, meaning he was successful on getting that into Peter.

This is one of the most underrated Marvel movies, people usually crap all over this, but I think it's a rather great movie. I was not in love with it coming out of the theaters back then, but the more I watch it, the more I like it. They say a movie is only as good as its villain, but this is a big exception, I don't care at all for Aldrich, I think he's a rather uninteresting and uninspired character, but it doesn't matter, because it's all about Tony in this one, it's more about his inner conflicts and character development, and it just works. It's fun, it's funny, it's great.

"seeing real life problems in a superhero movie" .... yeah that's pretty much been the secret to Marvel's success ever since Stan Lee started writing most of the comics many many decades ago. That's what made the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man so different from anything DC had going at the time.

First off, love your energy in these reactions, Alex! Iron Man 3 does bring out a lot of emotion and depth in Tony Stark’s character, which is really fascinating. I totally get what you mean about that human side. You nailed it with how he struggles but also protects those he loves! Also, I have to share-while I think Iron Man is an awesome superhero, my favorite will always be Deadpool! His humor and unpredictability keep me hooked every time. Can’t wait to see your reaction to Thor: The Dark World next. Keep up the great work and stay awesome!
