    This is why we want to continue watching to the end. That tip to insure that the lines are as straight as you can get them is so worth it.

    Just found you and learning a lot! I bought a Regalia a year ago just now using it more after having watched many you tube on Pro Stitcher have finally tackling it. My friend has a Gamil, have watched her computer quilt with it and thought it was easier to learn. Finding you I do like free motion quilting. Someday I’ll catch on to that pro stitcher! Did I say I’m 78 and love learning!

    Thanks for the tip on preventing angled pulls/creases on parallel stitching. I noticed it on a recent quilt I did and feel badly about it, but now I know, I guess.

      This is why I am watching the video. Can anyone tell me the time mark where Susan talks about keeping the lines from pulling to create arrows going to the left and then to the right? Does that make sense? I call it arrows. The stitching pulls the top and back in the direction you are stitching…Thanks so much!

    Susan, You were talking about the thread was unraveling. I was at a lecture during quilt week AQS and Superior threads talked about how you set your spool and the way it comes off. A cone needs to have the thread taken off by the top. a Spool needs to be taken off by the side and the spool spins. so the way the thread goes on is the way it should come off to keep it from unwinding. Hope that helps.

    • @StitchedBySusan
      @StitchedBySusan  9 місяців тому

      It does, and I know that to be true. I pretty much always use cones, but still occasionally get that un-twisted effect. Perhaps I should contact Superior😁

      If you’re worried about that, practice a design first on a non-precious quilt or a piece of yardage. Then once you’re comfortable with it, head into the more treasured quilt. You can do this ❤️

    I love your quilt behind you on the wall, is there a pattern for that quilt? The designer for the quilt you are working on is J. Wrecker Frisch. I am a quilter and love her vintage style especially for Halloween fabrics. I just found your channel and thank you for the easy to follow instructions. I will be trying straight line quilting, you took some of the fear out of the equation. I love your style. Thanks

  • @Mickey-jn8hz

    Stupid question I am sure….what do you do with those threads that you cut on the top of the quilt, do you pull them to the back, knot and hide in the middle?

    • @StitchedBySusan
      @StitchedBySusan  7 місяців тому

      I first do a few closely spaced stitches, and then pull the bobbin thread to the top and cut both tails.

  • @Mickey-jn8hz
    @Mickey-jn8hz 7 місяців тому

    I find that you are using a short length of stitch. When I try to stitch on my regular machine with the special quilting attachement I find if my stitch is short it pulls a lot. I am using poly thread and the last one I quilted….(my third) I had no pinches in the back….of that I was very proud.

    I think that in 2025, I will purchase a long arm. You make it look so easy. I think I can do it. I've been researching the different brands. Are there any features you regret getting or regret not getting when you purchased your machine. What are some of the features that I would definitely want to include in my purchase?

    • @StitchedBySusan
      @StitchedBySusan  9 місяців тому +1

      This is a huge question….😁and so much depends on the style of quilting you like/want to do. Top of list I’d put quality of stitches, ease and smoothness of movement, and even sound. Then think about individual features like channel locks, or programmable buttons or adjustable handles. Servicing availability is a big consideration too. A personal example of trade-off was that I gave up some speed on my last brand for the ability to use common needles on my BERNINA, and that was well worth it to me. You might have other favorite things than I 😁

      Make sure your floor is level or machine has a great height variance. Put my machine in an upper bedroom and did not think the floor was unlevel as it was. My right rear leg is as low as it can go. When it was leveled, my belly bar is a little high for me but there is nothing I can do about it!!!!! Narrow your choices and then rent time on each.
