Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.
The only thing I would add to the list is a small white Mr Twister plastic on a standard lead jig head. They are a somewhat aggressive presentation, good for finding aggressive perch and walleyes that want to chase but I've had countless rainbows gulp those things to the point that I will use it to target rainbows on occasion or as a multi species lure.
Great tips. I was worried about not getting a close up look - particularly at the flies - but at the end you showcased them nicely. I have some of those lures but I bought waayyy too many hooks without trying them and its hard to know which ones to try. I do best with jigs but will explore with the kastmaster and Swedish pimple for sure. I appreciate your sharing what works!
Great video! Just discovered your channel and after watching a few videos, we fish for trout in almost the exact same way. Also, thumbs up for Old Town kayaks 👍
GREAT VIDEO!!! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that uses flys...I'll also had some good luck using Blobs, scud patterns, Leeches and grass shrimp patterns here in the highlands ice fishing... Thanks again for the great video!
I am going for rainbows on a small glacial pothole lake on Saturday. Where I am going the rainbows are stocked. I have tried several times to locate them ice fishing and cannot seem to even see any on the camera. The lake is not very big, it is one of those glacial pothole lakes so it gets pretty deep, almost 70'. Around the whole perimeter it drops off about 10 from the shore except for the back NW corner, there it is a little more gradual.. almost basin like. Would you have any tips on trying to locate these elusive son of a guns??? I do have an aquavu cam and an ibobber so i got the electronics.. any tips are appreciated! much love brother!
Generally trout will be feeding in the upper 20' of the water column in my experience. Shallow basins are more likely to hold fish than out over the deepest part of the lake.
It really depends on the lake and food resources. However, in general over deep water 20' or more trout tend to suspend high off the bottom and feed in the water column. Near shore or in shallow areas under 10' they tend to associate with the bottom.
I don't think it was mentioned in the video, what depth are you fishing everything? For guys like me who don't have fish finders and stuff...how deep should we concentrate initially
In any lake that is stocked, find the steepest dropping shoreline and back up to shore. Anywhere from 4'-10' is the sweet spot. Fish halfway down te water column. There's ZERO need for electronics of any kind if you have a small hub shelter. Just look into your hole.
Have you ever tried using small PK lure spoons they work really well for perch and other pan fish and the bigger sizes for walleye and I was wondering if they worked for trout. Thx
I use moroburu waited feather jig with a little bit of shrimp or worms. I get a ton of bites, unfortunately I'm struggling to set the hook and a lot of time when I do the fish still comes off the hook. What am I doing wrong?
What type and color of swedish pimple lure did you use here? Do you think it hurts to put a little piece of worm on the lure too for extra scent? Thanks!
It really depends on the lake. However, I generally find trout feeding nearer the bottom rather than suspended off the bottom. I try to focus on areas with weeds as that generally means lots of bug life (as you can see in the video). In these areas they generally patrol the bottom.
The lures shown at 9:10, You Google in ''China/ fishing lures'' and u can buy them ''cheaply. BUT make sure you scrowl down to see How many you get for your money.
Hey there, Milt. You are legitimately the most knowledgeable and genuine fisherman I follow. Thanks for your commitment and all the amazing content.
Thank you for those kind words and your support!

Very underrated video. Very professional my guy, make it appear effortless.
Simply wonderful day ice fishing,(4:14) nice catch, like the water camera shots, thank you for sharing! Viewing from Canada
Nicely done AND nice music!!! 🎣🙌🎣👏👏👏
casual hook up,
then the chunk ripps some drag,
THEN the bass drops.
epic edit!
I've got a ton of kastmasters for small stream pools. I'll try jigging one next time

Sweet toad!! Great videos can’t wait for safe ice, do you use a shanty it’s my favorite thing to sight fish.
I rarely use a shanty and mostly rely on electronics to catch my fish.
Meal worm and a salmon egg on small hook is my go to for trout. 2nd, copper John flies. In the northeast

Do you tie all tackle directly to your line, or do you ever add a swivel to make switching easier?
Direct tie
Great vid thanks for the tips! Just subbed! We're gonna head out for some rainbows up here in Canada in 2 weeks so we'll try em out! Keep up the vids!
Your presntation was supper good. Be careful out there.
Excellent job presenting and Thank You !
Going to target some rainbows this weekend!
What do you usually start with? Spoons then downsize to small jigs?
What usually does better for you?
I usually go opposite. Start with jigs. If you can't get them to commit try aggressive spoon jigging.
What is the automatic hook setter you use??
Its from Alaska Fish Trap as far as I can tell they are out of business
Great video, that one fish was giant.

Nice video, that slush monster is nasty! What boots you wearing?
Muckmaster Arctic Ice
Are you tipping the spoons or pimples?
Yes with maggots
Nice
do you find most trout feed high in the water column or just off the lake bed?
It really depends on the lake and food resources. However, in general over deep water 20' or more trout tend to suspend high off the bottom and feed in the water column. Near shore or in shallow areas under 10' they tend to associate with the bottom.
What is that in line reel you were using, is it good?
Its the 13 Fishing Black Betty Free Fall and I love it. Been using it for 2+ years now. amzn.to/3kV3Ec0

For Rainbows I like red and white or silver and green. It absolutely helps to tip with bait.
What auto hook device was that? I have never seen it before.
Alaska Fish Trip from Alaska Salmon Bear LLC

What rod are you using?
I'm using several different rods in this video. Which one?
What size tungsten jigs do you normally use for trout? Do you go smaller for crappie?
I typically use 5 mm. It works just as well for crappie too. No need to go smaller.
Thanks a lot! I’m really enjoying the videos. Just ordered my first ice fishing rig, and can’t wait to try it.
Are you tipping them Sweetish pimples ?
Yes with maggots.
@@spiltmilt thank you

Yes. It works!
I’ve caught more trout ice fishing with just a pink jig head and chunk of raw shrimp than anything else
What depth are you fishing the trout? Thank you!
5-10' mostly occasionally I'll go deeper.
