OMG I love love love that you are teaching/connecting with your granddaughter like this! I'm 64 years old, but I still remember connecting with my Grandmother when I was growing up. Not sewing, but reading! We used to stay up all night reading Little House on the Prairie books. Literally ALL NIGHT! Her house was always my safe-place and it was a connection that I will cherish as long as I live 😍😍😍
What a delight to watch that child take delight in sewing WITH her grandmother. Its hard not to be jealous of your precious relationship. You are blessing my life by sharing this relationship and working with Eliza. Thank you so much to you both.
Oh my! That Eliza is so confident in her sewing skills already. I can see her doing her own solo tutorials on your channel in a year or two, and by the time she's a teenager, having her own YT channel to teach other children and young adults. I enjoyed watching her attentiveness and love for Cindi as well as her enthusiasm in making this quilt. Yes, it was pretty obvious to me that this wasn't Eliza's first quilt, but instead the purpose was teaching the viewers and giving us the confidence that we could make our own first quilt like she made the one in this video. Nice going!
What a precious and talented girl, and she shows the best teaching has been used on her! Congratulations to you both! What a pleasure to watch the two of you working together it is; what a gift from God!
Eliza, I’m so impressed! You are an excellent seamstress! I started sewing when I was about 5. I’m 63! And I’m actually just starting to quilt. Thank you for your video!
Your granddaughter’s photo needs to be added to your opening on all video’s. She helps with the box openings and makes quilts. She is a lucky little girl to have all of you to teach her. She is adorable.
Great job, Eliza! OMG how many quilts have you made already? Love watching you two together. I can't imagine how wonderful that must feel to have a granddaughter pick up the family passion! :-)
Eliza is one special little girl. She is intelligent and hard-working. I couldn’t believe the great job she did on her quilt. Well done Eliza. Keep up on your skills.
So fun and informational to watch. During the first months of COVID, my friend taught me to do a Christmas tree rag quilt. It was lots of work, but so satisfying to do. It was my first quilt done with instructions. I had made baby quilts for each of my grands. But, really didn’t know all I needed to know. So, I just winged it. My grands are all grown and still have their quilts. I am now making rag quilts for the ones getting married and the great grands yet to be born. Thank you. 💞
I love that your granddaughter is learning something wonderful with her grandmother. What great memories she will have to hold onto. Great job the two of you. Talented young lady, indeed.
I am so pleased you walked us through making a quilt. You many tricks of quilting helps a great deal. Eliza was very talented in sewing. She should be in more videos. Thank You!!
This is so precious to me! I’ve never made a quilt, but have been trying to learn and THIS has helped me tremendously. I believe I’m ready to start. Thank you! Hug that baby girl for me. ❤
Thank you so much; this will help me with teaching newbies. Knowing how to do something does not always translate into good teaching technique and this step by step is great!
My granddaughter looks similar to yours. I NEVER GET TO SEE HER.. EVER. She’s probably a year or 2 older than your granddaughter. I love watching her in your tutorials. She is precious. Watching the 3 of you (your daughter as well) is so very inspiring. I’m left handed & always found everything backwards. I’ve taken up quilting AT 47 yrs old & really love it. About 5 yrs. Surprisingly watching THIS video reminded me of all the little important steps that every quilter should be patient & diligent about. You’re a very patient teacher & your student a very eager pupil. Please Give your Granddaughter a hug from me… one day I’ll get to see mine.. when she is an adult & I hope she loves the quilt I’m going to make for her.. all the best to you & your family. We drive by Mose lake once in awhile. We haul RVs into Canada from Indiana. One day… I’ll come BY & say hi..buy some charm packs maybe. Just to meet the ones who inspire… ❤️
Cindi and Eliza you have inspired me and my granddaughter to make a quilt together. Eliza and her quilt gave her confidence to learn. She is 7. Thank you!
Oh that's wonderful that you're teaching your little one a lifetime craft what a good job this young person is doing congratulations. You should be very proud of yourself young person. You're going to have a beautiful quilt when you get done. I wish you could help me do a quilt as pretty as yours do come back on the show love to see you.❤❤❤😂😂
OVE , love ,love, love your quiltI ( please come back on the show again real soo ). My favorite show. ♡♡♡♡♡ ...So enjoyed you ... what a fantastic job**** I'm so impressed **** good for you girly🤩
Thank you again, Miss Aliza. I always learn something new with you & your Nana. Good job. It’s a beautiful quilt. Can’t wait to get together with some of the grandkids soon & use your videos to help teach them too! Thanks again, grammie bevy

Thanks for another well-explained video. I learned rudimentary sewing skills through the process of making face coverings last year. I don’t consider myself a quilter, but I have started to do an ambitious quilting project. I already had the tools & supplies so I thought about making a set of table runners for our home. Actually, several sets...such as a winter collection for Christmas & one or two ordinary sets which complement our color schemes. We have 10 furniture pieces that are just beckoning to be protected from scratches. They are in open areas & need to coordinate in some way (e.g., same colors used, similar patterns) and to foster a common “unity” in the décor. I think I took on too big a task, but seeing the process from start to end is encouraging. I can at least do a pair of end tables & see how that comes out. BTW my inspiration comes from remembering the horror I felt from accidentally damaging a nice coffee table only a few weeks after its delivery. Wish me luck!
When cutting, I like to push straight down through the fabric just past the edge closest to me, then go backward then forward the rest of the way. That way, you don't push that front edge of the fabric ahead of you when starting the cut. Hope that makes sense.
Wow, I am impressed with grandma (and the grandchild too)! My mother would never allow my sister and I to touch her sewing machine. We majored in Home-Ec class to learn to sew. Kudos to grandma!
That was really fun to watch. And I agree….watching Eliza do this was very inspirational! Plus I learned a whole bunch of new things. Cindy I think the way you worked with Eliza was impressive to say the least. I’m sure she knows how lucky she is to have you as a guide. Thanks a lot for sharing this….and I found out what my ‘stitch in the ditch’ presser foot is. I’ve been looking at that foot since I got my machine.
Sew darn cute. My OCD wants to get her a better chair or a cushion because she's so excited with her progress and can hardly sit down to sew. This is why I need a grand daughter lol. I have a ready made sewing room and a fabric stash too.
I am very impressed with Eliza’s skill. It makes me more aware that I must stop micro-managing my 10 yr old granddaughter who definitely has her own opinions of what she likes. In your organizing video, you mentioned the fabric pieces set aside for Eliza. What an excellent idea! Our Teyla uses my Passport 2.0 which is perfect for her to handle.
Hi Cindy, I know this is a video showing Eliza’s first quilt but I hav a ? about the sewing machine she is using. I use my Mom’s Phaff 360. My Dad purchased for her when I was 3 and I am now 60. I love it but I am wanting to save for a newer model. Why did you pick a Phaff and not other manufacturer ? So many quilters here on UA-cam use a Juki, Bernina, and Babylock. I actually started following your Chanel when I saw you sewing on a Phaff. 🤣 Your the only one I follow who sews on a Phaff. Here is a bit of trivia:Here in Indiana there is a sewing repair and machine store that sell Pfaff’s. His Father started the business many years ago and they one awards for the Phaff machine in store classes. I actually went to school with the now owner. The shop is called Select Sewing.
What was the color of aurifil for quilting darker colors. You said 2123 for natural colors, but I can’t figure the one for darker colors. Thanks. And I loved watching your granddaughter. She gonna be an expert.
Such a great video! I have a question...precut squares are pinked. Do I measure from the outside of the cut, or the “valley” of the cut for my 1/4” seam? Thanks.
What wonderful memories you are making with Eliza. What a blessing.
She is so adorable and confident in her skills already. Cindy you must have spent lots of time teaching her the skills of sewing.
Cindy, your grand daughter, Eliza is too adorable. So young and she handles the sewing machine so well! Amazing!
Eliza is really listening and is so nice to see her prevailing! You go girl! I love watching you!
What a delight to watch that child take delight in sewing WITH her grandmother. Its hard not to be jealous of your precious relationship. You are blessing my life by sharing this relationship and working with Eliza. Thank you so much to you both.

She knows how to use sewing tools and which buttons to push on the big girl machine. So very cute. I love it.
Great video. Wish I could sew that fast. It's sweet the way she looks to you for approval. You can see ut in her eyes and face. Lucky Nana😊
Thank you so much; this will help me with teaching newbies. Knowing how to do something does not always translate into good teaching technique and this step by step is great!

❤❤❤ I’m using flannel fabric to make a baby quilt 🙂

She is!!

Great job Eliza! I am starting to teach my 10 and 7 year old granddaughters this summer. Any tips?
How do you get the knod on your roller love your video wish my granddaughter would learn to quilt
Such a great video! I have a question...precut squares are pinked. Do I measure from the outside of the cut, or the “valley” of the cut for my 1/4” seam? Thanks.
It doesn’t matter as long as you are consistent. I measure from the outside.
Hi from New Orleans
What is the object on your ruler please?
How old is your granddaughter Eliza? I want my 10year old to start sewing but I dont know what age to start. Eliza is so talented!
She is eight. She started quilting when she was six.
Do you back-tack at the beginning & end when you quilt your top?
Never mind. I found it later in the video. 😊
She is so amazing. You are not pressing each as you are going. How old is she? She is doing great.
She is 8.
