How do I open the flow control valves all the way?
How to cap off sprinklers in certain areas during construction?
@@nathanduffield5123 Turn them counterclockwise! You'll feel it stop!
@@anniesshenanigans3815 If you know that you'll be doing construction around the main line, you don't really have a choice but to turn off all the water. If you know that you'll be working around a specific zone, you probably just need to turn off those zones at the timer.
Unless I'm misunderstanding?
Excellent comprehensive explanation of most potential issues with irrigation heads. Thank you!
Thanks Lu for the video !!
I have a single zone that worked last season, but now there's not enough pressure. When I pull a head up eventually the whole system gets to pressure. I tried capping 2 heads and it works, although it takes a few seconds after bubbling. I'm not finding any significant water in any area indicating a leak.
What if all the heads in the zone don’t pop up, I have to lift one for 10 seconds then it builds up pressure and the other 3 pop up automatically
That’s the same issue I have, gotta swap a few heads out to get the pressure up
Excellent video. Only problem i have with hiring a pro is the Sprinkler Master in my area charges $189/hr plus a $50 service charge. I dunno if they are part of y'all but that is a hefty price to not have any guarantee that they are able to fix a problem in that time. That's what happened to me at least. They couldn't find the busted sprinkler head/line to replace in my yard after a fence installation by another contractor and they couldn't figure out why my flower bed sprinkler zone wasn't flowing with pressure. So $430 bucks and the only thing they did accomplish was moving an irrigation line 6ft to get out of the way for a deck project. That's hard to justify
Thanks
I had a far away zone that would not pop up the sprinklers after it was drained overnight (auto drain valves), once the sprinklers all pop up it maintains 55 psi at about 10gpm, same as all the other zones. The simple fix was to use a program to fill the pipes for 1 min, then start the watering program 1 min later. heads pop up immediately with the pipes full.
I’ve found my problem with sprinklers not popping up is related to limescale build up as a result of my borehole water being quite hard. I normally clean them once a year with an anti limescale cleaner. When they have popped up just grab a toothbrush and clean up the sprinkler head where it mates with the sprinkler body when not watering. 👍🏻
Super good point! Thank you for that. That's a super good tip!
Hi , i have a couple on the line that want ti suck down instead of popping up ( 3 out of the 6 are popping up the other 3 seem to be sucking back down)
Weird hey??

Andrew
On ONE zone, I have Orbit spray heads. half work and half just bubble but does not pop up. There is NO leak. Any advice?
Can I put a heavy rock on top. To prevent it from popping up?
I have one pop up head that I don't want it to pop up
What if it’s one zone 2 of 4 having an issue coming up?
Where do I get one of those shirts?
Are you in florida
I noticed this was in front of your home..i have same problem...do i need to shut of water from main line in front where sidewalk(city) is..or as long as my valve is off i can do it?
If it's just one sprinkler head that won't pop up, you should be fine as long as you're sure your valve is off!

How do I open all the flow control
Valves all the way?
Turn them all the way counter-clockwise. They''ll hit a spot where you can feel they're open all the way. They shouldn't turn anymore when they're fully open. Hope this helps!
Awesome video. Thank you. If you tilt your hat brim up, there won’t be a shadow on your eyes.
