The ones championed by fans usually involve claims that the production of the film allowed for much more time and funds for much more dramatic and expensive lighting on sets per scene rather than having everything standardized for the quicker turnaround times needed for filming a weekly series.

I thought it fit with the motif of fire in the dialogue, which made it seem ominous to me. It also just feels unnerving after seeing countless calmer scenes in those quarters with the subdued lighting.
Ditto! I've been able to "simulate" this with smart bulbs that have RGB control...gives our rooms a nice "golden hour" sunset look. It is very soothing.
When the audio pros for this show created these sounds, they were genius. This series has been gone for years and I still enjoy watching the reruns, seeing the special effects and hearing the audio
These videos are so amazing. I'm obsessed with your channel. I have ADHD and struggle to focus, but these really help me. It doesn't have all the distractions of regular music, but it's also way more interesting than the typical boring ambient music - every few minutes I smile to myself because I feel like I'm on the Enterprise. Something about being part of a crew full of competent, well-trained, and highly motivated people is inspiring. Well, except for Barclay before he got his shit together, I suppose :)

I have ADD-like trouble focusing, and used to have UA-cam videos running in the background while I worked, so that instead of a hundred different things, my brain could be distracted by one single thing, then go back to work. But other videos are way too distracting, and plain white noise isn't really my thing. Working on the Enterprise is much nicer :) Especially working from home, where I have to/get to lock myself in my room and work!

ADHD crew checking in. I am currently trying to strip out my endless distractions in order to try and quieten the engine of my ADHD mind. I become overwhelmed so easily which effects my mental health. I sleep with white noise playing, usually airplane cabin noise.
I like this much better than the bridge version I heard with the constant tweedle-de-doop noise ever few seconds. Imagine the constant low roar of the warp core annihilating matter and antimatter and turning it into an incomprehensible amount of energy all for you to sleep by.

This has helped my sleep immensely since I've found it. It's great in its own right as sleep ambiance, but the dose of TNG nostalgia goodness puts it over the top into excellence. Thank you for making this.
I'd been using this for sleep, but discovered it to be incredibly soothing during recent terrible migraine. The tone is frequency that found to be slightly soothing while helping muffle outside environmental noises.
It would be expensive, but Star Trek has already proven that it's possible; all of the sets were practical which means they can exist (they pretty much had to be since CGI was pretty rubbish in the late 80s when TNG started, at least as far as photorealism is concerned). It would be expensive as hell and honestly you would probably have to build the room somewhere outdoors with practically no light pollution and a clear view of the sky to get the best looking space backdrop, but it's definitely possible.
Nice balance of active sounds vs engine drone. You want to feel the night crew has everything under control, not that they need you to wake up and fire up your tricorder. Other mixes often startle me out of sleep . You've hit the spot!
I suffer from a lot of worry and tension in my life. I look forward to the nights in my tiny cosy bedroom with this sound. For at least 11 hours I'm relaxed as I read/play a game/fall asleep to this sound. Thank you very much for this.
No actually you wouldn't! All their food is synthesized to make you maintain a healthy body (including weight). There's an episode where Deanna Troi has to tell the computer to override the standard procedures to have ACTUAL CHOCOLATE, and the computer double checks that that's what she wants to do. ...and I can't remember who's with her but they're like REALLY you have to have REAL CHOCOLATE! You know that has SUGAR RIGHT?!! 😂

the ST -NG Enterprise engines sound is almost exact to sound of Niagara Falls thundering water falls at night in overnight hours when city is quiet and off season .... I currently living in Niagara Falls Canada side and you can hear the sound of the falls through out the city.

Spent over two years unemployed after Covid. This helped me get to sleep at night and stay calm in my mind when I was job searching online. I grew up as a kid watching this series, this actually helped to ground me and remind me that life isn’t always all totally fucked up
I ran into a Kroger ad just after the 5-hour mark. I lost my place, so I'm not sure if it was 5 hours 25 minutes or 5 hours 52 minutes. I've used this for several nights, and this is the first time this has happened.

Ha ha ha! I can hear Deanna Troi and Lt Worf talking on the right side, very faint. Also a few other sounds, like doorbells, and the doors opening and closing. Which, honestly, would not be out of place in the enlisted berthing compartments.

The empty room shots show how most of the Enterprise-D would appear. It's been estimated that with a crew of 1000, close to two-thirds of the ship would be empty. That's what happens when script writers don't consult engineers 😉
I like the idea of putting the bed in an alcove with convenient sill surfaces and indirect side lighting. Loft-style angled ceiling with a skylight is also neat, but not to my tastes. The adjacent spaces could be closets, bathroom, etc.
This is probably what the interior of a starship would sound like. At least, one using warp drive and not just cruising via inertia (which would have no sound).
Any ship's life support systems (e.g. the mechanically ventilated air and plumbing) will be noisy all the time. Not to mention the sound of people carrying through the walls and floors.

Ha ha ha! I can hear Deanna Troi and Lt Worf talking on the right side, very faint. Also a few other sounds, like doorbells, and the doors opening and closing. Which, honestly, would not be out of place in the enlisted berthing compartments.

I like the idea of putting the bed in an alcove with convenient sill surfaces and indirect side lighting.
Loft-style angled ceiling with a skylight is also neat, but not to my tastes.
The adjacent spaces could be closets, bathroom, etc.
Too much light, being photosensitve it would drive me crazy...
Sometimes the doorbell (beep beep dong) and I instinctively respond 'Come in!' even when I am asleep.

This is probably what the interior of a starship would sound like. At least, one using warp drive and not just cruising via inertia (which would have no sound).
Any ship's life support systems (e.g. the mechanically ventilated air and plumbing) will be noisy all the time. Not to mention the sound of people carrying through the walls and floors.
I don't think the people who designed the crew quarters have ever been on a ship. 😂
