According to the official slime video instructions, you are supposed to drill the plug into the tire and not just push it in. "Twists into tire for an extra secure hold" per the product details on Slime's website.
In my opinion it's maybe not a great idea to twist the plug but Slime does show them doing it. I have plugged a lot of tires over the years and the twisting seems like it would cause compromise for a leak. But Slime is a respected company and I will not argue with their process.
