    I was using the "Not Your Mother's: Kinky Moves curl defining hair cream for over a year. I had a scaly rash around my face during that time. I thought it was eczema. I used Hydrocortisone cream 1% on and off. Finally, I stopped using the kinky moves curl cream, and within 1 week the rash disappeared. Now I need to find another curl cream with caution.

    I'm VERY limited on what i can even get for my hair due to not only being low porosity and fine, but I'm VERY scent sensitive, AND low income.. it's like what the heck is left to choose from?! But the overuse of fragrances, especially synthetic fragrances, is a pet peeve of mine. It's completely unnecessary and extremely harmful to our health. Just because one doesn't notice any affect at the time, doesn't mean it's not having a harmful effect that will eventually cause issue.. the fragrances are endocrine disruptors and just breathing around them is causing an effect, regardless if noticeable or not. Then you have absorption.. your skin is the largest organ of the body.. up to 60 percent of whatever you put on it, will be absorbed into the bloodstream. Manufacturers learned early on how malicious marketing practices could make mega profits and open up new areas in the retail industry, expanding upon the market and profits.. if they could get us to make that demand.. convincing households that certain smells are associated with effective performance.. in ither words, it's not truly clean (like with common household cleaners) unless it smells like purple passion flower, or Tide, or ABC product.. thats how the overuse of unnecessary ingredients made their way into just about everything... they used psychological marketing deception that has worked for many decades and ongoing.. it's so deeply ingrained throughout the generations, that it will probably take decades to try and counteract the BS lies with truth that is finally widely accepted by the general public to change the supply with their demands. Your lungs and liver are initially involved in the detoxification process when you simply smell the product (and still so even when you aren't consciously aware or realize this still occurs without a registered aroma).. our bodies are constantly detoxifying as they're designed to do.. filtering.. via skin, lungs, liver, kidneys, colon, etc. This is how we handle everyday toxins in our environment and food/water supply.. we normally excrete harmful byproducts out the body, keeping us healthy.. but what happens when we continue to overload our daily exposure to toxins? Those built in filters will become overloaded and won't be able to properly function, filter performance will decrease.. those toxins will accumulate and cause the body's organs to try and overcompensate.. and we'll certainty take notice then. We just won't realize what the root cause of our illnesses are, and neither will our doctors.. so they'll treat the symptoms and your quality and perhaps quantity of life will suffer.. I'll give one small example- a man ends up with diminshed kidney function out of the blue.. where it leads to chronic kidney disease, being on dialysis, etc.. the kidneys started malfunctioning due to processing a couple of LIVER enzymes that they're not equipped to handle.. why is that? The liver was overburdened with its detoxification process.. in other words, the body was taking in, exposure, more toxins than it could properly filter out and eliminate (excretion).. there's so much in our environment that we can't control that we have overexposure to.. so knowing that, why willingly continue to overburden the body with harmful products (look into the ingredients of the products and foods you use, you'll be amazed at some results of our everyday common products that have been proven to impact our health, so much that many products and ingredients are banned elsewhere due to this.. but the US FDA allows manufacturers to determine if safe.. what a joke.. yeah, like money wouldn't alter perspective in any way.. it's crazy).. our chronic illnesses have been ever increasing over the last several decades.. just like our daily exposure to toxins has.. decrease your exposure, decreases your health risks.. and illnesses.. but nothing will decrease unless we demand it.. they'll provide more and more healthier options and products overall when the majority of public demands it.. cause then they will see profits are to be made that way, and they'll provide the supply. Every consumer counts and makes a difference. Sorry for going on a tangent, but i wasn't kidding when I stated this subject is my pet peeve.

    "Very Young Child doesn't let me wash my hair" is my LIFE. I'm a single parent to 3 kids and the youngest is just about to turn 4; finding the time for managing my hair can be difficult.
    I'm newish to your channel and haven't had a chance to go through all your videos yet; have you ever done a "wash before bed" video or tested any air-dry products? Washing my hair in the morning isn't always possible for me given our schedules and there are noise-sensitive people in my family (myself included sometimes) so a blow dryer is kind of a nonstarter in my house.

    • @FaceItGrace
      @FaceItGrace 6 місяців тому

      I often wash my hair at night, blow dry because air drying takes forever and a day, and then sleep with a bonnet or ponytail in the cast. I believe Courtney does this for night time showers too except she pineapples her hair.

      @momlady5959 6 місяців тому +1

      @@FaceItGraceI can't use a blow dryer without setting off a meltdown; one of my kids is disabled and extremely noise-sensitive. Plus sometimes I'm so overstimulated from the noise and demands of life that having to hold a noisy loud thing next to my head for 10-20 minutes is just not something I can bring myself to do. A blow dryer would end up being a useless dust catcher here.

      @@momlady5959 Courtney has a video on air drying, I believe from the middle of last year. In the rare occasion I air dry I apply a leave in conditioner alongside mousse, or as of late I use mousse as a leave in conditioner, which Courtney has done. I then scrunch the excess with a hair towel.

      What I do, admittedly just out of laziness, is sit down in front of a red light lamp. Don't know, if you're familiar with them? When I was a kid in the 80s, everyone had them at home, because they were recommended treatment for ear infections and clogged sinuses, back then. Don't know, if that's still officially recommended, but I sure still do it, because the intense warmth just feels so soothing and relaxing. They also work great for drying hair, though. It's basically like sitting in front of a fire. And there's no frizz, because it's just radiant heat, no moving air.
      If you decide to try it, I'd recommend getting one with a safety grid, though. They do get wicked hot. And with curious little hands around...

    I have to use fragrance free products. I found the Shine shampoo to not cleanse enough and the conditioner was too heavy for me. But I love both the Shine gel and jelly. I found the Lus fragrance free products good in winter but heavy in summer. Lately I've been using Seen products. I'm wavy, but found their regular conditioner and blowout cream not moisturizing enough (even though they were recommended for wavy). I use their Deeper Conditioner and curl cream, and usually follow with the Curlsmith Shine jelly. I do wish more companies would make fragrance free products that were less costly though.
