Actually beginning to be shocked this hasn't blown up into some larger TV/streaming/whatnot deal. Don't even need to change a thing. Production gold. Kudos, KA
Speaking as a Londoner, John and terry are great ambassadors for the city. They’re honest, highly skilled, warm with a easy manner and a good dash of humour. Well spoken and articulate, but not posh, and clearly strive to provide a top-notch service. This is a great mini-series.
@fifi_198 Excellent. I had a second fitting on 27th Feb and then collected on the Tues 12th March just gone. The entire team is exactly as they are on UA-cam; great banter in the shop (banter is British for laughing and knockabout humour) and hugely professional. The beauty is the invisible stuff; hand sewn button holes, beautiful hand work inside the trousers that only the customer will ever see. They have seen every body shape so one must follow their advice; they know exactly what is correct for your body. I recommend them 100%. Worth every penny.
@fifi_198 It was excellent. Obviously at the first fitting they only fit approximately. At the second fitting two weeks later those problems have been sorted out. Two weeks after that was the third fitting/collection. That is obviously what you’re paying for with bespoke. I collected them at the third fitting; although I could have had another fitting if desired/needed. Apologies for not answering sooner. Btw…£1350 and worth every penny. I had a 13/14 ounce plain dark grey wool worsted, button fly, side pockets, two pleats and standard 1 3/4 “ turn-ups. The hand work is incredible; mostly invisible to the public; hand sewn button holes as an instance; only you know it’s there. The team there are fantastic; utterly professional, the repartee is biting, ironic; tinged with good humoured sarcasm…..exactly as you see with Kirby…..🇬🇧
It’s always good to watch channels where you actually learn something, and watching two of the finest suit makers ply their craft is such an eye opener. This channel is an absolute gem .👌🏻
I've actually (along with another viewer below) have been waiting for this, such a relaxing thing to watch, all 3 make you relaxed and that's how it's supposed to be, brilliant how your put at ease. I'd love a series with just John, Terry & Suyamba, brilliant people, brilliant environment.
I love seeing the development in these videos of relationships changing from formal politeness, to a bit of polite banter. That jacket from Terry is absolutely crisp looking.
Kirby: "Is there a difference between how you'd prepare your fittings?" Terry: "oh yeah, mine will fit" I did not see that coming!! 🤣 Another golden non-chalant moment by Terry
Love this, I still appreciate these old school British traditions and skilled tradesmen and woman. I think there’s a huge swell in Britain to go back to simpler times where skills were paramount not technology
When he detaches that sleeve at 22:00 my mind was just blown... this series has just been the absolute best. Its got interest, skill, ASMR, entertainment and intrigued all in one. Thanks Kirby and Team.
I enjoy the time spent with the gentlemen as much as the clothing. And these two are the best. To be fair, the Sahakians are also the best. I look forward to these episodes for weeks.
The tailors were warm and charming. Says a lot about Kirby as well since he was enveloped in their love and affection. The good relationship between client and tailors in this case is showing in Kirby’s unfinished suit that is coming together very well. Enjoyed the show.
I wonder where that nickname or shortening comes from. It’s not as intuitive as Greg from Gregory or John from Johnathan. Terry is short for Theodoric or Theodor.
I really like these guys. I'm teaching myself Bespoke Tailoring at home. These guys and the absolutely stunning Suyamba are a mine of useful information....I like the banter too, they're really down to earth
Being waiting for what seems like ages for this. These two gentlemen are great characters and make you feel at ease and welcome. Whilst I will never have the opportunity to wear any of their suits,it is great to see the work and precision that goes into a bespoke suit.Well done Kirby, top class as usual 👏 👍.
John and Terry remind me of the characters I met in london in the 1980s, skillful, honest and straight up. What I based my view of the world on, why have things changed so much. People seem fake. Do such people exist?
So glad to see the continuation of this series, these two are the best people you have collaborated with along with the lovely gentlemen from Davidoff (broadly said as to include the Folkes')
Kent and Haste!!!! Yay! I keep checking back waiting for another video of them. I've watched all the pattern-making videos over and over because they're so lovely to watch! (And I learned quite a bit from them!)
These videos are an amazing endorsement of not just the concept of bespoke and tailored clothing, but the great people behind the art and craft. After learning of Kent Haste & Lachter through your videos, I now wish that I have the opportunity to meet them and perhaps even of having the privilege to have a suit made by them. They seem such great people to work with
Maybe it’s time to mention that even the comments, the viewers of this video and show are people of bespoke matters. Love to see and read the comments as the video plays along. Even grammar is good! 😅 Hugs to you all.
Those are coming along beautifully! You must be excited. Also, you are not alone, Kirby...I've also found many of my trousers have been shrinking in their waists. There must be something going around this past year...
One thing I will definitely do once I save up enough is get a bespoke suit made for myself. Absolutely love suits and the confidence they provide the wearer.
Savile Row tailors come to the U.S. on regular basis (in fact I am seeing Henry Poole representatives tomorrow for my first fitting on my Blue Plaid suit). Go top shelf my friend its worth every cent, trust me!
@@chuckbuckbobuck thanks for the advice. I live around 20 minutes from the heart of NYC. New York is definitely gonna be the place I go to for my suit. By the way great idea on the blue plaid suit. Blue suits just look so luxurious especially when they have that nice sheen to them that's why their my favorite color for suits.
@@Brandon-du2bp Thanks, Btandon. What you saw Kirby going through is the same procedure I will be doing in about 6 hours a today (I an a late appointment for Simon @ Henry Poole). With the British pound way down against rhe dollar Simon and company can make a beautiful Super 130 suit for you for just over $5000. Their next visit is in February and I plan to see them than as well to move my suit fabrication along. Maybe you should strive to see them then. You don't pay for all of rhe suit at the start but pur down 50% and the pay the balance upon satisfactory completion of the commission. Good luck to you.
@@chuckbuckbobuck good luck with your suit fitting today. Thank you also for the recommendation and I’ll try to get an appointment for February then and good luck to you also Charles.
@@Brandon-du2bp Thanks Brandon. It went quite well and the cloth being used to make the suit and trousers was absolutely gorgeous. I mentioned to Simon about are e-mail exchange and he was flattered that I recommended Henry Poole to you. They are coming between February 21-23 to NYC. I will be commissioning a second suit in a chestnut plaid that is very autumn looking- I like those colors of that season. I probably going to go with trousers, waistcoat and suit jacket this time. I hope you will do forward with having a suit commissioned as it is a great experience for a man to have and you look like a million bucks when they finally complete it. Good luck to you.
“Agreeing with each other is boring and you’re giving in”….. Very important words and more people need to understand healthy disagreement is good and drives a better outcome. Better lay off the fish and chips Kirby. The camaraderie and humour between John and Terry is amazing. They seem more like brothers than colleagues, then again they have known and worked together on and off for over 40 years. Can we appreciate how beautiful Terry's suit is, I would love to have seen it with the jacket on.
Such great content, Kirby. Thank you. Love the birds eye cloth. I also tend to put on a few pounds on holiday and then just as quickly loose them, which throws the measurements. I've ended always asking for just a touch of an allowance on the cut of my suits to compensate.
Our friend John is obviously very talented, and he took pains to tell you... "We aim to get the first fitting...how we've communicated." and went on to say, "We get our first fittings pretty well on the money." Based on the next 30 minutes, I couldn't help but wonder as to the effectiveness of your first communication. It must have been easier to draft the plans for the Eiffel Tower.
