Ronald altered what he was hearing by reversing the groove and slowing down the speed and came up with the main hook for Celebration.

I recently picked up the bass after playing guitar for many years. "Get Down On It" was a song I learned a few months ago and glad to see it made your list. I love that groove. Thanks for playing it.
Thank you, Julia. I love your accent, I love your talent. And your childish smile. Thomann's should pay you double of what they are paying now, regardless.
"Hollywood Swinging" was the first bass line I ever played, I only learned that song to play in a HS talent show (to get girls) with my friends having never played the bass before. It's very simple and it gave me the determination to play the bass.
I recently watched an interview with Chic's Nile Rodgers in which he claimed he got inspired by the beginning of Hollywood Swinging bass line when he wrote Chic's Good Times, you know, the 3 quarter notes on E. He said his cousin played with Kool and the Gang.
You played the bass for girls? 😢 That's never worked before....the guitarist, frontman and drummer get all the chicks. We bassists go home with the groove though 🔥
You've opened up a new way to look at bass playing Julia. I play the guitar (moderately) and therefor always listened more to that. But after watching a couple of videos, I don't think I an ignore this instrument anymore. You sound like a great and skilled player and your love for playing is very infectious! Thnx ❤
Kool send the Gang great bass lines. Love the Life You Live, Hollywood Swinging Soul Vibrations, Mother Earth, Superband, Surrender. To mashed a few. I'm the original Kool and the Gang fan. Ever since their 1st 1969 release, Kool and the Gang, an instrumental.........
Julia and the Bass Face are back! I can't get over how good she is at finger style funk--I wish I'd had a handle on that near as well as she does when I was playing the bass. Good show as always, Miss Julia! Me, I always liked the groove on "Joanna" because it's so relaxed and laid back, but confident, and the fills he does on the chorus between vocal lines are just so tasteful and perfectly timed. Deceptively simple, for sure.
Kool fave’s you left out: “Hollywood Swingin’” - my jam as a 13-year- old kid in So Cal “Jones vs. Jones” - second hit off Celebration album. Funky bass.

Thanks Julia, in this top 5 I especially liked 'Jungle Boogie' and 'Let the Music Take Your Mind'. I would have loved a 'Who's Gonna Take the Weight' or 'Open Sesame', but with a repertoire of over 50 years, there's so much to choose from. Next up, a Jamiroquai and/or Brand New Heavies top 5?
