when I was teaching, where I taught, that would've guaranteed you wouldn't work in the district again so glad to hear yr in a better place than that. a real pleasure to read this.
I was living and working in Lagos, Nigeria when this song came out. You could hear it being played everywhere you went. It just made everyone feel happy. People would start dancing spontaneously no matter where they were as soon as this song started playing. No gathering or party could had without it.
My father made this song. I remember being very little and always hearing him and my uncles record and play songs in the studio at our house. I remember they would sometimes let me play with them on the keyboard and sing with them. Out of all their songs i would hear i remember loving celebration the most because it was the most popular one, and it was the first song i ever memorized by heart. Growing up i always thought having a famous musician as a dad was the coolest thing in the world; we traveled all over the country, got to be backstage during their shows, being backstage on tv shows, staying at high class hotels. The thing i loved the most were the shows themselves, they were big, loud, had crazy effects like fireworks, fog, giant disco balls, confetti cannons and so much more. And the whole time the crowd was going wild, I specifically remember one time at NJPAC, they asked if anyone in the audience wanted to join them and this one woman went crazy trying to join them, flailing her arms and running down the seats to get their attention. The two most memorable concerts were when i was 10 and they let me, my cousins and i think a few other kids join them when they sang celebration. They lead us on stage and we would dance together to the song, all improved with no rehearsal and a few of the crowd members would dance along with us. The other was their performance at the american idol finale last year, we had to stay at a tent outside and watch backstage because the actual stage show is very small and the audience was reserved for family members of the performers. But it will remain the most memorable because it was the last time i will ever see him play live. Everyone in my family, including the band, looked up to him, he was like the head leader of the entire family, we all loved him and his work, he was always there when we needed him. If you ever needed help with anything, anything at all, he was right there to help you every step of the way. Dad was a master of his craft, he would work tirelessly day and night on music, he had the ability to create music right on the spot, whenever he has a rhythm he would record it and make a song out of it. And his work showed and all his efforts were recognized, our house was always full of records and trophies, recognition awards, platinum awards, plaques and movie posters featuring his songs, and to this day his work is still recognized and played. I always wanted to know where his drive and passion for creating music comes from, if there was one thing i always wanted to learn from him it was that. He and kool and the gang were renowned worldwide, growing up i don’t think I’ve ever met a single person that didn’t at least know what celebration was, people everywhere knew their songs, from the UK, to Italy, Japan, France, Australia, and especially in North and South America. At school, at summer camp, at any of our travels, people knew kool and the gang, they knew celebration, i remember as a teenager i started hating celebration because it was all anyone ever knew. Jungle boogie, summer madness, get down on it, all obscure because of celebration, but i’ve grown up since then and come to realize this song is their flagship theme and symonymous with kool and the gang because it perfectly exemplifies how a celebration feels, it’s energetic, upbeat, and makes you want to dance, it was his magnum opus for a reason. But most of all, he was a father, and the best family man you could ever dream of. He loved his children, he loved my mom, he was right there when you needed him most. when you needed someone to talk to, when you needed help, when you needed to laugh, when you needed a good ass whopping, when you needed sometime to cook, and when you needed love. I will never forget all that he’s done and our time spent together, he will forever be remembered as one of the greatest jazz musicians and one of the greatest musicians period. Thank you for everything dad, may the lord smile upon you and bless you at the paradise you worked so hard to reach, we will all miss you.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!! He sounds like the epitome of what a FATHER is and was. Hold on to your memories. You are grieving now and the world grieves with you. They don't seem to make any effort because the song is recorded on a studio with all the effects and the video is made later to promote the song (as it is very common) 👀

Just finished school with freaking good grades all in the 90% in a freaking pandemic and now I’m heading to university in the program I wanted!!! Life is good right now man ❤️🔥😎😄😄😄😄
He said that he wrote this song because he was inspired while he was reading Genesis. He said wait, you mean to tell me that's the meaning of life? (I'm paraphrasing) God made all this earth and all these beautiful things and then he made us and gave us life to enjoy it!? Well that's a celebration for the whole world!!
Is there anyone listening in December of 2019? I'm 28 years old now, Not the chaotic darkness like now I feel a wonderful time with hope in the future.
whose here after Ronald «Khalis» Bell died? Rest in peace, man, what a group... and some tunes you gave us. You are gone, but your music... its here forever! I will play this song loud in your memory. RIP. Strangely enough, 26,000 tone-dead morons who dont know what a great tune sounds like.
AG Kiyani: I just heard about the passing of Ronald Bell, just before I read your post. It's a big loss. I live in LA, and met him in person back in October 2015, at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, when they had their star placed. All of them were there. I had a 5 minute conversation with Ronald, and also the drummer George Brown. Very down to earth, and accessible people, despite their fame. May Ronald Bell RIP. They left us with an amazing calatog of songs, that will continue to transcend generations. Thank you for remembering. Enjoy the music! Cheers, Sam.

Be like: finished my life satisfied so let's party
He said that he wrote this song because he was inspired while he was reading Genesis. He said wait, you mean to tell me that's the meaning of life? (I'm paraphrasing) God made all this earth and all these beautiful things and then he made us and gave us life to enjoy it!? Well that's a celebration for the whole world!!
No amount of modern activism will ever get anywhere near to what a song like this can do to bring people together.

whose here after Ronald «Khalis» Bell died?
@@samaduampoma2449 oh, you were so lucky to have met him! To us that live far away, that was just a dream... That will never come true now...
