Hi guys, I so squeed when I saw the video was up. Thank you for taking another probably not wildly popular request from me 😁 I loved that song for many years, and I'm a bit surprised you never heard it before - but nice that I actually found something that was new to you 😉 I also loved that the word "epic" was used several times throughout the video - Globus refer to their music as "cinematic rock", and the album this song comes from is actually called "Epicon". Very fitting name, I think. And a great album. Also: "My subconscious might be behind the wheel, but it does not have a license"? 😂 Brilliant. Just so you know, I am SO stealing that. I really enjoyed this video, thank you for another great reaction. I think you nailed it with the lyrics once more. Oh, and I just saw something slipped into the displayed lyrics that should not be in there...
This is a band, or maybe it is more accurate to call a project, that I had never heard of before watching this video. I am glad that it is now on my radar. You mentioned Silverchair which is a band that I have very much heard of. I discovered them when I heard their album Young Modern which became one of my favorite albums of 2007. I then dove into their previous albums. I was bummed that Young Modern ended up being their last album.
Globus is the project of Israeli-American composer Yoav Goren who co-founded Immediate Music in the 90s and became one of the most successful composers of movie trailer music. Globus came about because a lot of people wanted recordings of the pieces they heard in the trailers, but most of the things they produced were two short and were only crafted to sound awesome, rather than have any meaning. For Globus, Goren uses pieces from the Immediate Music catalog as the foundation for epic symphonic rock songs that are fine-tuned by a few other composers and songwriters, and they features a number of different vocalists. Their most popular song is probably "Preliator" which is based on the Immediate Music piece "Lacrimosa" which was used in the Spiderman 2 trailer. They have three albums so far, Epicon (2006), Break from the World (2011), and Cinematica (2022).
