I liked the way y'all talked about lyrics and its meaning and y'all aren't quite off the mark. Yorushika is a rock/pop duo composed of suis(vocals), and nabuna(composition, music, lyrics) Their albums often narrate a story, Their first album "That's Why I gave up on Music" along with a bunch of letters and poetry narrates the story of Amy, a young man aspiring to be a musician who has a heart disease and has only one year to live, and how he in that one year created songs to leave to Elma under the title 'That's why I gave up on music' Their second album Elma also with a diary, is the continuation of the story of moonlight (basically of Amy and Elma), in which Elma, an ordinary girl comes up to finding her reason to do music. Their third album plagiarism along with a mini novel written by nabuna talks about a Thief and plagiarism of music.The thief viewed his songs as plagiarism. The mini album Creation is the album which consists of songs which he (the thief) created when his wife was still alive. Even though he thought of his songs as plagiarism, his wife thought of it as creation and hence the title.

She is a remarkable force of nature. You have both mentioned that you are addicted to her voice, so I think if you reacted to her live solo performance of AKATSUKI or NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW you would lose your minds. The former is an ass-kickin’ melodic banger, while the latter is the most beautiful rock ballad you will ever hear. I was at PIA Arena for this show, and it was an absolutely epic production. Even during the show I was thinking "This is going to look incredible on video" and it sure does. The thing that is amazing is that the way it looks on video is pretty much exactly what it looked like inside the arena with the massive video screens; it was a real spectacle. These big shows in Japan are all professionally filmed for Blu Ray release, so they always look great. There is a proggy element to this song with some funky stuff happening with time signatures that I really like, so it's one of my favourite tracks from The Other One.

I agree with you, from the BABYMETAL album to BABYMETAL-the other one, I have never heard a BABYMETAL song that I think is bad, I like them all. One thing that makes i still listen to them is the different musical sensation in each song on the album.

As always an enjoyable and thought provoking reaction. Really enjoy the back and forth you two have on what you think is going on. Edifying and enjoyable. Not a bad combo. I can't imagine that anyone who has taken the time to seriously listen to Babymetal has not pondered the magic of Su's voice. Babymetal have now sustaiined, matured and evolved for 14 years. The level of consistent excellence they've maintained over that time is impressive to say the least. All that in consideration to the serious listener it always comes back to Su's ineffable voice. Such magic and mystery it contains. I've loved music ever since I was a little kid...a long time ago. But in all that listening no voice has affected me in the way Su's has. Every time I hear her I'm mesmerized. Thanks as always for maintaining the high bar you've set for your reactions.

Hi guys, always pleased to see you react to Babymetal! Mirror Mirror took a while to grow on me, until I saw them perform it live in Sydney last year. It was another belter which got the audience hyped. The show was of course a stripped down production compared to their Japanese mega concerts we see online, however the smaller stage meant we had a clear view of the Kami band playing. They tend to be confined to the background at the bigger arenas. On a production level alone, seeing one of those epic Japanese shows is on my bucket/ wish list. Just a quick technical note, your voice level seems to be somewhat low on this reaction compared to the music. I had to keep turning you up for the commentary, and then when I clicked on another video without adjusting the volume, I momentarily deafened my neighbours, lol,😊

If you want to see more intros and hear more crowd participation etc it may be better to avoid "official" videos (unless "live") which can also be putting studio sound over the performance. Great reaction to an awesome track anyway - one of my many favourites :D

⚡ 💕 / 🪞 To quote Su talking about 'Mirror Mirror' in the funnytoss translation of PMC magazine vol.27: "It sounds poppy at first, but it’s also somewhat distorted. The rhythm of the odd time signature is what creates that sensation. The lyrics explore the theme of whether or not the person you see in the mirror is your true self. On first listen, it sounds like a bright world, but in fact, you’ll find it seems slightly twisted. It’s half in Japanese and half in English, and using two languages helps express the duality of human nature. It’s quite interesting because we’ve never tried to use the two languages in this way before. I also like MOAMETAL’s part in the bridge (laughs)."

Thanks so much for the reaction. I feel the same way about Su's voice. I am totally addicted. I have seen a number of vocal coaches analyze her voice and I think a couple have had some insights into the way she produces the open vowels so prevalent in the Japanese language and her ability to vary the "power" of her voice while maintaining the correct pitch. She has millions of devoted followers, me included. I've got a couple other reactions in your queue that demonstrate her incredible versatility - Shanti Shanti Shanti, which has her singing in an Indian style and it is incredible what she can do with her voice. Also BxMxC where she does metal rap in Japanese. You will find her doing so many different styles so perfectly - from the full Kawaii of Gimme Chocolate (which you still haven't done and is their biggest UA-cam hit) or Doki Doki Morning to full on metal in something like Distortion or Latin metal in Night Night Burn or middle eastern metal in Metalizm, etc., etc. I think she literally can sing about anything well.

I love this song. This is Ryu-metals best song for them. Up to this point Ryu wrote some of their less rated songs, (Meta Taro, Elavator girl, Oh! Majini, and BBAB) but more recently he's been writing well rated songs like this. He also co-wrote Metalizm and the Legend with Megmetal and Metali! with Norimetal. As for Su being in the same catergory as Ozzy Ozbourne, yes!, I thought this from day one. They are both human sirens. Ozzy is more an air raid siren, and su is more a house alarm (and i mean that in a clumsy but most complimentary way possible😄) They both have soulful and unpretentious vocal styles. Neither of them set out to be metal singers, but were destined to be the Prince of Darkness and the Metal Queen. Imagine a colab!

It is interesting how fast this title dropped. When it appeared it was like Yes they still can play as hard, but then they dropped it out of the Setlist for Titles like Synchopation or Brand New Day.

Another excellent reaction and analysis, thank you.🦊🤘You left nothing for me to try to explain with the lyrics and the meaning. I forget exactly how you worded it, but I agree, the world is so much better with Su-metal singing in it. The video was filmed at the PIA Arena Black and Clear Nights and if you look closely you might see that whenever it goes into split screen or uses mirror images they are taken from both nights (Black Night the costumes did not have the reflective iridescent layer they were wearing on Clear Night - and Black Night Momometal did not have her mic yet, Clear Night was her first as an official member and finally with her own headset mic). The visuals on the big screens behind them were from the official lyric video they released before the concerts as well and those visuals also beautifully help to illustrate the meaning of the song.

Nice one, thanks! "Mirror Mirror" is probably my favorite song from The Other ONE album. I absolutely enjoy the prog metal mixed with metalcore, the hardcore breakdown and that very, very BABYMETAL chorus. Also very fan of the pre-chorus (where they quote Shakespeare's MacBeth) and the modulation they did there. Su-metal commented this about "Mirror Mirror": "it talks about how other people can see you, but you can only see yourself in a mirror, and that may not be your true self - yet ultimately, you’re the only one that truly discerns what you really look like. So in the end, it’s like asking yourself who you really are." 🤘‍🦊

Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey 🦊🤘🔥 Cool to see you reacting to this song, its even one of SuMetal's favorite from this album. I like the progressive metal elements, that heavy breakdown and the existential questions. There's also a reference to Macbeth in the lyrics besides the obvious lines famously known by Snow White tale. Here's some official info: Mirror Mirror (MIRROR) _Mirror, mirror on the wall...this song embodies a parallel world where the world inside the mirror and the world of reality go back and forth._ _Is what you see in the mirror your true self or the self you wish to be?_ Mirror Mirror was the 5th and final single they released from this new album called The Other One released in March showing us a new sound and a BM side we've never seen before with this metalverse. This was at BabyMetal Begins - The Other One - Clear Night live at PIA Arena MM, Yokohama, last April 2nd with MomoMetal debuting as the new official third member, she was one of the avengers since 2019 and we're all proud of her, but don't think this as a replacement of YuiMetal, she's like a new incorporation to this group for this new lore and metalverse era. Also the BM logo change, it doesn't have the skull and the heart in the B letter, as well there's only three feathers in the logo unlike four prior to this. The Western Kami Band was in charge of these shows but the audio in the official MV is studio album sound. They used to perform this at the World Tour 2023 but they're not doing it during latest live shows. This indeed has a old-timey hard-rockey vein, which makes it right up my alley. Singer's voice is truly beautiful. Fantastic song, I would like to hear more of this band. I hope there will be more reaction videos to their songs.

This is the opening track from the album The Weight of the Mask (a great title for the subject matter of the album) released almost exactly a year ago. I remember this album very well because I thought it was a very solid album and it has one of my favorite album covers from last year. The lyrics for all the songs are by the vocalist, guitarist Serena Cherry. From a recent interview, it sounds like she has been battling depression since childhood (which I am guessing is well over 20 years now). The pandemic put her in a deeper emotional hole. The song Faking It and the entire album deals with her struggles with depression. One complaint that I have with the song, is that it has none of Serena's clean vocals. She has a beautiful voice. My favorite song from the album is Defiance, because of both her vocals and her lyrics. She is a fighter and is not willing to succumb to her depression. During the worst of the pandemic when touring was shut down, Serena released a solo project album called Wretched Abyss, under the name Noctule. Despite the title, the album is not about her struggles. It is inspired by the video game Skyrim. As a fan of atmospheric black metal, I enjoy this album more than any Svalbard release. Serena's songwriting and voice perfectly suit this type of black metal. I hope another solo album is in her future.

Four Musketeers never gave up. They are stronger than ever 🔥🤘❤️ Lovin’ Nemophila ❤️💥

Just saw them up here in Sapporo last Friday night, and this song was one of the absolute highlights of a brilliant set. Incredible emotional impact... They've made kind of a signature thing out of those "whooooa-oh" harmony vocal parts (multiple songs use them), and one reason is obvious live: the crowd chimes in _hard_, and the result is pretty magical. I've seen both the original lineup and the new quartet system multiple times, and every single one of the shows was "presence of greatness' stuff. Oh, and Mayu plays 2nd guitar on about 20-25% of the set! They've figured out how to write for their new lineup SO fast and so well. Mayu is employing some lower pitches in her screams, and that's adding some fire and even anger, for sure (good call!).

They never disappoint
