I have the newer one, very happy with it. USB-C, 2000 mah battery. Have not opened it, but have seen around reviews it has some different front end filter circuits, but it’s been solid performer no problems. Thanks!
Hej Todderbert thanks for the bandscans oh yes XHDATA or the Sihuadon D-808 is a great radio and i use mine Sihuadon D-808 very often take care Todderbert and have a nice monday.
Thanks for the review! I like this radio as it has good reception. Can you recommend a comparable unit that has backlit keys? This one is extremely difficult in low light, I’m color blind and the secondary functions are very challenging to see. Also it is a shame it doesn’t allow a simple scan of channels in memory.
Can't think of a backlit keys SSB Radio atm. The browsing of the presets would be a challenge since they are setup in pages versus one entire block of them.
Not sure if u will see this @todderbert , but I think a really helpful video would be to do a round-up of the myriad of radios in this form factor. I struggle to keep track of the differences between the CC Skywave, Sihoudan and XHData versions that all appear similar. Thanks and please keep up the fun videos!
Mostly different bands, and a bit of a size difference. Some of the best are the CC Skywave SSB for ultra portability, Eton Elite Executive, Sangean ATS-909X2 for Desk Tuners, and the D-808, and PL-330s to fill in between. Those all receive SSB. If you don't listen to HAM activity, then the R-108, or CC Skywave 2 is a good choice. Another budget friendly model is the XHDATA D-109WB.
@@todderbert Ok, gotcha. I do have the PL-330 and the CC Skywave 2, both of which I enjoy. I have been looking at the D-109 as another option. Would you recommend the WB version over the regular one? Thank you for your response!
@@rawvlogz4205 Yes, but not recommended. It suffers from RFI generated by the charging circuit that is automatically engage with a battery inserted or not.
SSB means Single Side Band, used by HAMs to send a signal with less power, and greater distances. You need the SSB feature to "decode" the speech since the transmission isn't full frequency, but half of it. AIR means Airplane, Airport, and Ground Transport of Aircraft. You will be able hear these transmissions, sometimes even plane to plane. The radio does not have Bluetooth.

I have this radio. It is my favorite radio out of all the radios I own.
I also have this radio. This is a very sensitive radio, extremely selective.

I have this one, fabulous radio but i dont get any MW and very little SW frequencies in UK where I live
The MW is dead in Spain too 😞
The XHDATA has a nice sound for human voice
Does if you remove the battery the saved in stations channel will be gone?
They stay saved.
@todderbert can the usb powered direct supply the radio as power supply even no battery is inserted?

Just purchased a tecsun pl 880. Do you recommend the D808 as a backup for other functions the tecsun does not have? Thanks for the worthy info
If you want a backup radio with SSB, then yes, this one. There is also the more expensive Eton Elite Executive, and C.
rane CC Skywave SSB 2s.
This radio does airband. The pl 880 does not.
my 808 has no SW sensitivity day or night, disappointed.
Ever breakout the DigiTech AR1780?
Been awhile. I like the ease of charging up the 18650, and the fact that
the D-808 is lighter.
Is this radio have blutooth?
Ssb and air means what's pls say and is this have blutooth?

Can 24 hr time be displayed ?
Yes.
Would you say the D-808 is better than the tecsun pl368.
Yes, less noisy audio. Also has air band.
