Can I say that people shouldn't infantilise Elliot cause I've seen so many cis people treating him as if he is a "baby uwu that needs to be protected" and not a whole married 30something year old
@@aryanyudha9264 so the thing is is gender and “biological sex” are actually not the same. Gender is socially constructed, meaning that it has to do with the way a person sees themselves, the way others see them, and how they identify. This has been proven to be independent of what the person was assigned at birth. For example, if a person is born female identifies as a trans man, they are a real man, because on the inside they’re a man. If a person is nonbinary like moe, they are really nonbinary because their mind does not match male or female. You can change your gender and gender identity, because that has nothing to do with sex or how someone is assigned at birth. This argument also does not make sense because of how common intersex traits are without people even knowing. I hope this cleared things up
@@aryanyudha9264 I’m starting to think you’re a troll. There are real SCIENCE points, like neurology that have proved that trans men have brains similar to cis men, and the same for trans women and cis women. That’s real science, not sociology. And yes, intersex is relevant because you said you can’t change your gender and said that sex and gender are the same. And while we’re on the point of Caster Semenya, would you consider her male or female? Because she identifies as female, was assigned female, but her chromosomes disagree with her physical appearance and her identity. So, I’m not sure what bringing her case up was supposed to do to help you, but it actually shows that gender is more than physicality and chromosomes because those two can naturally disagree with each other. And just because it’s rare doesn’t mean there aren’t real people with intersex conditions. You also should really stop calling Elliot “she/her” pronouns because he has stated that he does not wish to use those. Elliot has not transitioned medically, but he has started his transition by coming out. Just because he didn’t immediately go on hormones or have surgery does not make him less trans, nor does it put you in the position to be rude about his transition and his life. And yes, you are being transphobic, because you’re literally saying that you can’t change gender, that it’s the same as sex, using “she/her” pronouns on a person who does not use those, which is purposefully rude and misgendering, even if you are using his new name. Saying that people have no use for him, just because he is a short trans man? That’s discrimination, and your comments have spiraled into transphobia that is actually harmful. I’m not silencing your free speech, I’m just trying to show you your ignorance and the holes in your argument. It is not rational to go out of your way to be rude to people because you disagree, and your argument is not based in logic, because it goes against sociology, which is still a social science and the way people treat trans people in society is still part of the topic. But also real science proves trans people’s existence. So yeah, you’re a transphobe, but it doesn’t mean you don’t have the freedom to say it. I’m not silencing you, I’m just trying to show you that it’s okay to show compassion and to care about people and how they feel, because feelings are actually important. These are PEOPLE. Real people.
She should get a life, even suggesting Elliot is not " really " trans, and treating people as they were just a number, just a soldier on her team, it is so sick
Still free speech, trying to force people to think different will just end up making it worse, some people will like trans, some will like gay, most wont know the difference if you just don't make it obvious. Am so done with the victim mentality
Arielle clearly believes that trans women are less of women than cis women. She just won’t directly say it. She literally said that the word “woman” shouldn’t include trans women that are pre-op and pre-hormone (Noah Finnce cites this in his video on Arielle). This completely ignores that some trans women have health issues that prevent them from taking hormones and there are valid concerns about SRS that lead many trans people to decide to not get surgeries. Edit: I meant to say that Arielle believes trans women are LESS of women than cis women, not more. I mistyped that.
Arielle can't find other lesbians because we've all blocked her like in that one episode of Black Mirror. Anyway, congratulations to Elliot I think he's incredibly brave & compassionate!
@@sarahgabriella84 If you 'cancel' someone, you make it so that they aren't able to voice their opinion any more. Intimidating them through stalking and doxxing is one way to do this (and a bad thing to do). If you simply choose not to listen to what a person is saying, then you haven't silenced them. They're still free to say whatever they want. Nobody owes it to them to listen. It's like if somebody writes a book that's terribly written, and so nobody buys it; they haven't been silenced, nobody prevented them from publishing the book, but people aren't obliged to buy it and read it either. So blocking her is not 'cancelling' her, as she can still voice her opinion as much as she wants; some people just don't want to have to be forced to listen to her.
Side-note: a lot of the people complaining about being "cancelled" HAVEN'T been silenced. Look at JK Rowling; since making her transphobic comments last year she's published a novel, written loads of articles, given loads of talks about how 'silenced' she is (does she even recognise the irony in that?), been interviewed by all kinds of media, and has recently even been given an award by the BBC for an article in which she doubles down on her transphobia. She claims to have been 'silenced', all while having every opportunity to broadcast her opinion. It's true that a small percentage of her critics have attacked her online, with death threats and the like, and that is completely unacceptable. However, it's not fair to characterise all people who criticise her as violent oppressors, when the majority are simply disagreeing with her. It might seem like she's being overwhelmingly attacked from all sides from her point of view, because she's in the centre of it and it may feel overwhelming. There's also the fact that people who have been victims of abuse in the past tend to be hyper-vigilant for threats and can interpret criticism as an attack because of this. I'd hate to be at the centre of a Twitter storm, it sounds terrifying. However, she still needs to be accountable for her words! She's free to speak her mind, but other people are free to criticise her for those words. Not all criticism is an 'attack'. In fact, telling people that they can't criticise you is an attempt to silence them. Rowling is essentially saying that SHE should have freedom of speech, but people who disagree with her shouldn't. The problem is that instead of criticising the things she has said, the media and many everyday people are now busy accusing trans people and their allies of "cancelling" opinions they don't like. So the mainstream conversation ISN'T about the fact that this very powerful woman is oppressing an already oppressed minority group; instead, people are turning on this group and criticising them because of the actions of a small minority within that group who have taken things too far. It reminds me of the BLM movement. The vast majority of protesters are peaceful. A small minority are violent and attack police and property. Suddenly, people are characterising the whole BLM movement as violent, when what they should actually be doing is asking: why are these people protesting in the first place? Instead of focusing on the intense racial oppression permeating societies worldwide, people are instead asking "why are black people so violent?" The answer: they aren't. A small number of protestors have taken things too far, and now everybody is being painted with the same brush. We shouldn't be blaming oppressed minorities and criticising their actions based on a few fringe extremists. *People seem to be more willing to criticise a minority's reaction to oppression than to criticise the oppression itself.* Instead of criticising minorities for speaking up, we should be listening to their concerns.
@Eliza Walker - Many lesbians start life saying they are straight because it's "normal" and they hadn't questioned it yet. So we could ask: "Why are lesbians ashamed of being straight?" That's how condescending this is. Needing others to conform to your categories because it's easier for you would be self-serving. Ironically, people who identified as lesbian before and since moved on to understand themselves as something else are in a better position to support the lesbian cause than somebody who stays and secretly doubts themselves.
Ugh, that pisses me off so much. It’s painfully clear that so many people view afab nonbinary people as women lite, or as quirky or confused cis girls. It’s so condescending too, like, she thinks she’s being super nice by entertaining the thought of our existence.
I love that she literally says that people shouldn't be calling her a TERF and says on her twitter that "Trans Women shouldn't be concern of Feminism" Make it make sense, sister

When Elliot came out as Lesbian, it was a Big deal, because they did it at a time when not many actors were out. Now is the time for different Gender Identities be acknowledged in the mainstream. Elliot acknowledged that this was the time for him to come out to the world, and live his authentic life. He also wants to be a strong, and vocal advocate and use his platform and resources to help further Trans Rights and Issues in the public sphere.
Elliot's coming out as transgender made me feel less alone. I was only able to come out to myself, my dad and my friends as nonbinary in August of this year at 35.
And honestly, it seems like the only reason Arielle supported Trump was that she was salty that leftist LGBT people called her out on her bigoted shit. Imagine being that fucking selfish.
"No, don't be trans, I wanted to fuck you" -Arielle Terfscella, probably. Funny enough one time she practically sexually harassed Kat Blaque into kissing her during some event, and she is a STRAIGHT trans woman (Kat has her own video talking about her).
When Elliot came out and was on the news I was sitting with my father and he just goes: "Are you trans like him?" (except he didnt say him) and my instant reaction to not out myself terribly is just: "HAHA NO" and he believed it LMAO Im super proud of Elliot though, since I know how hard it is, especially coming out to millions of people? That takes a lot of courage.

@@katherinegallagher9081 You're kind, but gender isn't a choice in the same way that romantic and sexual orientation also aren't choices. Even if you're genderfluid or abrosexual, you still didn't get to choose that you were genderfluid or abrosexual. What you can choose, however, is the way you label yourself bt using different labels that may suit you better than the previous ones... like identifying as a panromantic homoromantic, but then identifying as 'queer' because you think that label is better for you, or identifying as a trans guy and then identifying as a trans non-binary guy because you think that label is better for you as you've just now realised your non-binaryness.
As a catholic cis female, I have something to say. He, she, they, xe; no matter what labels or pronouns you use, you are awesome, valid, and loved by God.
"We lost another lesbian" Elliot never truly was a lesbian if he's trans. He was just in the closet when he presented as a lesbian. That was never his authentic self.
@@marad786 I saw a transphobic lesbian Twitter account and I kept scrolling through their page. I know I was doing digital self-harm by looking at discriminatory stuff (even though I'm not a trans woman, I could still feel how extremely disturbing their words were and I really was disturbed), but I just couldn't stop reading. One of their Tweets were something along the lines of, “Being a radical feminist is hard,” and all I could think of was, “I wonder why... oh, you're transphobic!” These people realise their transphobia strongly affects them, but they can't wrap their head around WHY it affects them. It’s like a straight cis man saying to a woman who came out as a lesbian “Wow we lost another straight woman guys!” Like that is just gross I identify with being lesbian and I never would think about it as a number. People change and have the right to change there status, when I was in the closet I was straight to everyone els but it didn’t mean I was really straight, so my pint is just because Elliot in the past called themselves something els doesn’t mean he is not now valid! i really love how quickly everyone switched up name and pronouns for elliot, it sorta felt like he always went by that his whole life and it just made me happy
"Imagine coming out as a lesbian today" I dont need to imagine. And no, trans people don't have it easier than me in any way, quite the opposite, actually. This is such a bad take, it feels especially cringy to hear it from someone who isnt even a lesbian
Lol is Mars deluded? Saying lesbians get hate for coming out from the LGBT community? WTF is that logic? Lesbians get hate from homophobes, not the lgbt community.
as a lesbian i can say that arielle does not speak for me or any of the gay women i know. lesbophobia is rife and that there’s a lot of stigma attached to being a gender nonconforming woman, but all too often people like arielle use that point to justify their transphobia. transphobia and lesbophobia are BOTH bad. trans visibility and lesbian visibility are BOTH important, esp considering that there are trans and nb lesbians. marginalised communities shouldn’t be pitted against one another. it literally helps nobody.
@@rigbywalker7190 hi i didn't say that arielle was lesbophobic ?? - i was saying that lesbophobia IS an issue, and that arielle talks about this, but that her takes on it veer into transphobia, even though the trans and lesbian communities have some overlap and could stand in solidarity with one another. tbh i haven't seen any evidence that trans people gain money/clout/popularity points upon coming out - if anything they're more likely to be vilified because that's the world we live in. there may well be people who identify as trans/nonbinary before realising that they're actually not. It's my personal opinion that this isn't a ''threat''' to the 'reputation' of the lgbt community. neither are lgbt people in 'straight passing' relationships. wanna know what the real threat is? actual homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. the straight appropriation of lgbt culture is a whole other thing that's tied up in consumerism. dont think it can be equated to a nonbinary person wanting to use neopronouns.
I love how Arielle can say that “some” people are trans but watch her scream if you say “some” people are lesbians. Let people figure out who they are and stop acting like trans people are erasing lesbians.
Why is everyone upset because Elliot know who he is and why does it matter he’s happy it doesn’t involve them at all he’s doing his job and is enjoying his life with being an actor and with the whole “we lost another lesbian” thing made me so pissed is that hard to be supportive and with the “being non binary is a trend” isn’t really a thing, I mean it might be yea but not every female says they are non binary it’s not that easy to find who you truly are and understand what is it like to actually be able to feel confident and conformable with your body and yourself and tbh I really feel bad for Elliot I’m sure he was sick of hearing she/her 24/7
Lmao yeah. She is the mean girl of the community, except unlike Regina, nobody actually listens to her or values her bigoted opinions as much as she thinks. It’s okay Arielle, the lesbians with pronouns other than she/her and nonbinary lesbians didn’t want to sit with you anyway ❤️
That's the dumbest thing to hate. I know a trans guy *who uses she/her, non-binary people who use he/him or she/her instead of they/them and I know cis people who use they/them. Pronouns are a form of gender expression but they don't always have to correlate to one's gender! I wish people understood this very simple fact. People are like, “I don't get 'triggered' easily,” and then they start getting furious the minute you tell them you use pronouns that are different from your gender. lol.
i’m really sorry, but what exactly is a he/him lesbian? i’m always open to being educated, especially when i don’t know much about the subject. i feel as if i should know about the community in in :)
@@loveinthetimeofsocialism He/they lesbian here! :) We're just lesbians who use he/him pronouns. A lot of lesbians have a disconnect with being a woman, because we live in a heternormative society and a lot of how womanhood is defined was created by and is in relation to men. Pronouns do not always equal gender, as pronouns are a form of gender expression, just pronouns are a form of gender expression. They can match gender identity, but they don't always do, just like clothes or names. Lesbians who use he/him pronouns are not men - most of us either woman or nonbinary individuals.
I was talking with my sister about how scary it must’ve been for Elliot to come out with the amount of celebrity status he has. With how scared I was to come out to my mom as Bi a couple years ago ( she accepted me although she keeps telling me I should just “ date a guy”) I can’t imagine the strength it took to go public with this information especially with how hostile people are to Trans and Non Binary people.
i'll be honest, as a lesbian, when I first heard Elliots news I was a bit taken aback, as he was so iconic in the lesbian community... but then I got over it because i'm a decent human being an its none of my business. its really not hard.

@@Enigma-pj3co It's just kind of outdated so it's often said by conservatives who aren't really on our side when it comes to basic human rights. So over time it got a bit of a bad taste to it on top of leading to people thinking sexual orientation and gender identity go hand in hand, which they don't. Trans people can be ace, gay, lesbian, bi/pan etc. like everyone else. I don't know if any trans people out there have reclaimed it and use it to describe themselves but I personally wouldn't use it and refer to myself as trans/ transgender.
(masc!genderqueer) lesbian here, I'm so happy for Elliot. I don't feel like I've "lost an another lesbian", I feel proud that he was able to come out and come out with such a powerful message. Good for him.
When I saw that Elliot Page came out as trans- non binary, I literally cry because I identify as trans-non binary(and I came out to my parents just a few weeks earlier) and I thought that what I identify as was non existing and non important, and now I know that is valid and it exist ... I'm so freaking happy :,)
I have listened to their statement being read by other people at least a couple times already, but you reading that out made me be on the brink of crying. It was beautiful.
When Elliot first came out I was so excited, but after the first 24 hours I went "I bet Arielle is gonna make a video about this 🙄" then I realized I havent checked her instagram to laugh at for awhile.... I went onto there and guess what video was the first thing I saw?
At the beginning of the year Mars and I were sort of seeing each other... I didn’t like a lot of the things he said or believed in but he did make me feel desirable and that kind of breaks my brain. I ended things for unrelated reasons after only a month or so, but I feel so embarrassed about that now. The way he treats other trans people and enbies should’ve been enough to put me off of ever taking to him in the first place. Between my sibling coming out as enby and awesome creators like you, Brennan, and others, I’m learning to be a better ally and to love my own transness more and more. I greatly appreciate your voice and presence in this community
She's basically saying that trans men are confused women wth... I can't even imagine how much it would hurt me if a "friend" said that to me if I came out as trans to them. It's so sad to see people from the LGBT+ community hating other people from the same social group. It's so sad and disappointing. I didn't know about Arielle at all before I watched this video and well I now hate her LOL..
I have very little hope I'll ever be able to come out to my parents. They don't understand trans and especially not non-binary trans. Especially as a feminine non-binary person (afab) and my friends who know only use one of my pronouns.
Hope you can eventually! I'm also not planning to come out any time soon, but if you have any friends that understand but don't respect your pronouns fully, you should talk to them about it! Good luck :)
Hey you can get through this, these words may not mean much to you but hey If you want to, maybe try just casually bringing the topic up, without implying anything too specific just to see how they react and if it's really not safe, try to get out of there as soon as you can! You can join online groups like discord servers for example lgbtq+ servers to talk about it, maybe try out different names(if you don't already have one) and just see how it feels! And if your friends don't respect your identity, they're not real friends. If you want them to use your other pronouns, maybe try talking to them about it? Good luck and much love!!
Also, I really hate the responses that are like "well, he helped us come out, so let us mourn" and shit like that because it's so selfish. You felt empowered by their support, but you can't be assed to give them that same feeling? He's come out and trying to live as himself. That's not something to mourn! He's still clearly incredibly supportive of the LGBTQ+ community and outspoken about our oppression and treatment in society, so what on earth did y'all "lose." The entitlement of these people is the same as homophobic parents who mourn their kid coming put as gay because "we won't be grandparents" or something. It's selfish and frankly embarrassing.
I remember when I came out as a trans woman to my mum, and I mentioned I would be looking for a doctor and hormones. My mum was instantly like "WHAT YOU'RE ALREADY GONNA DO THE THING!?" and I knew already, oof, this was gonna be a rough ride 😂 So yes, don't ask trans people right away about their surgeries.

is Elliot still gonna be playing Vanya tho? cause she's a queer lesbian woman, and Elliot isn't. I remember a few years back people got really mad at Scarlet Johanson getting cast as a trans person in a movie because she wasn't the same identity as the character... is the same thing going to apply to Elliot or is it suddenly ok because he's a minority? I love Elliot as Vanya and he did a really great job the first 2 seasons as her so I wouldn't want it to change up for future season but still, its something to think about. Either way, what that chick said is messed up, that's like saying "oh look we lost another straight person to the gays" its just fricked up.

I wonder if Arielle realizes that she wouldn't be losing lesbians if she would recognize trans lesbians 😬
Facts
Truly
funnily enough, Arielle is losing more lesbians by being transphobic against trans lesbians. She's going against herself at this point.
EXACTLY!!!!
Arielle can't find other lesbians because we've all blocked her like in that one episode of Black Mirror. Anyway, congratulations to Elliot I think he's incredibly brave & compassionate!
@ac McG we are under no obligation to tolerate the intolerant
We just meme her at this point.
@@fartsmella9267 No, thats stalking and doxxing. Blocking = Cancelled
I didn’t think people would actually say something as dumb as “losing a lesbian”, just let people be damn

It's amazing that AS can be so blind about how self-entitled her attitude is, she actually thinks her personal disappointment is a public service.
@Eliza Walker nonbinary isnt a made up thing, that’s like saying being gay is a made up thing because we thought we are straight at first.

Yeah, and she wonders why people call her a TERF; "trans men are just brainwashed lesbians" is a classic TERF talking point.
Hey you can get through this, these words may not mean much to you but hey
If you want to, maybe try just casually bringing the topic up, without implying anything too specific just to see how they react and if it's really not safe, try to get out of there as soon as you can!
My mum was instantly like "WHAT YOU'RE ALREADY GONNA DO THE THING!?" and I knew already, oof, this was gonna be a rough ride 😂
So yes, don't ask trans people right away about their surgeries.
Arielle Scarlet makes me so upset. The way she talks and acts is so infuriating- genuinely she makes me wanna cry lol
Her anti-BLM video made me feel sick. Her hateful content is so damaging.
@@marad786 HONESTLY. I look in the comments and there’s so many hateful people. It’s disgusting what she’s done with her audience.
@@marad786 she's racist and a racist and also a transphobe/terf. We don't claim her in the lesbian community. Trans lesbians exist, gender non conforming lesbians exist, non binary lesbians exist, and masculine identified lesbians exist. Elliot Page is he/they. No one should misgender them. It's disrespectful to him and transphobic.
Can't the lgbt community just get along. I mean we've all been oppressed and all.... We've all had to fight for our place in this world.
Terfs: Omg nooooo 😰😰 we lost another lesbian!! 😡🤬
Me: *laughs in gay trans man who never liked girls in the first place*
Hey it's okay that you didn't sacrifice your braincells and go through the rest of Arielle's video. I just refreshed my youtube homepage and Noah uploaded his own video on Arielle.
MOE YOU ARE GREAT THANK U FOR THIS VIDEO
❤️❤️
Trans people are all truly swag and valid as hell.
Thanks for the video moe!
Great video! I'm really sorry that you were let down by this guy who acted like he respected you whilst disrespecting your identity and that of others publicly. Unrelated to the video, but I really liked your t-shirt, the orange one with the hedgehog (I'm assuming it's a hedgehog).
As a lesbian, I’m not claiming Arielle
Ditto.
We do not claim this mess!
The comment about us avoiding her isn’t wrong...
I once commented under Arielle's video, and the level of immaturity on the replies I got tells all we need to know about her fanbase... and about her mindset, in the end of the day.
The idea that ppl “lost another lesbian” makes absolutely no sense because Elliot was never a lesbian in the first place. And I don’t understand why that’s so hard for ppl to get
is Elliot still gonna be playing Vanya tho? cause she's a queer lesbian woman, and Elliot isn't. Either way, what that chick said is messed up, that's like saying "oh look we lost another straight person to the gays" its just fricked up.
i think he will still be playing vanya, i think he mentioned somewhere that he doesnt mind playing vanya
Moe bless u this vid was the serotonin I needed
"Its never borong with arielle"
What? Literally everyone predicted the first sentence of her video. Shes boring and predictable.
You have 100% made my mind up, after wrestling with the current situation for a few years now, as a LGBTQ woman in my late sixties. And having not kept up with things for years.......I dove in to this topic head first about a year ago..the arguments have been confusing.
You tipped the scale.
Your voice is important. Thank you for your perspective.
Hedgehog shirt!
Since you see comments, try to pronounce "Vollpfosten" because it is what this mearmaid is.
one time you said “give yourself time to be” and that’s helped me so so much i use it all the time so thank you 🥺
imagine being an lgbt member and being an lgbtphobic.
wow i cant even
Deadnaming in the title of her video says everything...
I'm so sad that I forgot that Eliot was in X-Men because I genuinely enjoyed those films. But I was trying to remember where I'd seen him
Arielle tagging Elliot on twitter to spew hate at him makes my blood boil
I find it hilarious how she says right at the beginning annoyed, “we did it guys” like someone’s actions are responsible for Elliot coming out. As a masculine non-binary person myself, it’s so funny to see her act like the LGBTQ+ community has made some mistake for respecting his identity.
Why do some people get all “WHY ME???” When someone comes out as lgbt??? Like y’all it has nothing to do with you, let em live and be happy as themselves and CHILL.
Just a tip for anyone wondering: When referring to someone who uses multiple pronouns, unless specified, it's generally best to use them interchangeably at the same time-- for example, "He's my friend, their name is ___"
Thank you so much, I was wondering about that since I do not know anyone personally who is using more than one pronoun yet!
