    Maturnuwun. But when I tried that to rescale it on one axis in this case x, it only resize the x. And if choose all it resize all axis with the same size which we'll make our object skewed. How to rescale it without having to lose the proportion?

    • @exposeacademy
      @exposeacademy  5 років тому +1

      Hai pak Satriadi. Begini pak. Pertama pastikan scale value utk setiap axis sudah di apply/reset di 100% semua. Lalu setelah kita set 1 axis jadi ukuran tertentu kan nanti scale value axis tersebut berubah. Misalnya 80% gitu. Nah masukkan saya nilai 80% ini ke axis-axis yang lain. Lalu baru apply/reset lagi scale nya.

      @exposeacademy  8 років тому

      +Sohail Sarwan
      Hi sohail. Thank you for commenting in my channel. Unfortunately I don't have license for VRay anymore. I'm currently using Corona renderer now. It is Way more cheaper then VRay but easier to set up and faster rendering time.
      If you want to learn setting up sun light in corona you can check out their UA-cam channel. For VRay I think there are tons of vray tutorials you can find on the web.
      I will create a short introduction video later about post production in Photoshop. But for more in depth lessons I will create a free e-book for that in sha Allah, because there are so many things need to be covered in post production. Basically the more you understand photoshop the better you'll be in post production. I will announce it in my blog when the e-Book is finished in sha Allah.

    • @exposeacademy
      @exposeacademy  6 років тому

      Hi gaurav. You can import DWG file easily into 3ds max. You can also put the image as a texture for a plane object. But to get them sync you need to do a bit manual scaling/tweaking. For importing images as reference you can check my tutorials on how to model accent chair furniture. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/R2BlsND9lX4/v-deo.html

    i cant scale a group, whenever i do this, everything inside the group is messed up in size, how do i fix it?

    • @exposeacademy
      @exposeacademy  7 років тому +2

      Yes minh le the transform toolbox seems not working with group object. I guess you need to attach them first as one object then detach them later. Or create a large box object and parent everything to that box, resize the box with transform toolbox, then later unlink the objects from that box. Hope this help

    • @ndbiet

    Hi, How to convert a model from mm to cm?

    • @exposeacademy
      @exposeacademy  7 років тому

      Hi ebram. You can do this in 2 ways:
      1. change the system unit to cm. Than scale the object to 10%. reset the transformation.
      2. you can create a new scene, change the system unit to cm. Go to file menu > merge. Choose the mm file. reset the transformation

    I'm trying to shorten a tail of a dinosaur's rigg. But when I use the Scale tool it shrinks the whole tail. I want to just the push the tip of the tail in so it's shorter. How do I do this?

    • @exposeacademy
      @exposeacademy  8 років тому

      Hi carl you can do this in 2 ways. First by going to hirarchy panel > affect pivot only mode. Second method is that you go to animation menu > bone tools. In bone tools panel activate "bone edit mode". Let me know if this help

    • @karlhans6678
      @karlhans6678 8 років тому

      Expose Academy
      Hi, I'm still getting the same issue. I noticed that even if I just grab a part of the tail the whole tail will scale too, they seemed attached. Here's the links to the project:
      www.dropbox.com/s/1f6wcvrjhpl0p9r/t-rex.max?dl=0

      The dinosaur was downloaded from a website. The skeleton is an allosaurus from 3DS Max.

    • @exposeacademy
      @exposeacademy  8 років тому

      When in "bone edit mode" you should just use the "move tool" not the "scale tool".

    • @karlhans6678
      @karlhans6678 8 років тому

      Expose Academy
      Hmm, so this is how it's done. One last question: When I try to delete one part of the skeleton the whole skeleton deletes, how do I detach them to make them independent?

    • @exposeacademy
      @exposeacademy  8 років тому

      To detach bone you should use "unlink" command. "Detach" is actually the term for separating polygons as another object not for bones. The "unlink" button located at the top left of the main toolbar.
      The "bone tools" window provide a lot of control over bones. Just play around with it. There is a different between "remove" bone and "delete" bone, maybe this is what you are looking for.

  • @Alx18889
    @Alx18889 6 років тому

    This is all nice and all but Is there a way to constrain proportions using this transform toolbox ? because this way if you change only x value the object will be deformed.. say you have a more complex object like a tree and its totally out of scale like really small or big.. but you want the tree to be exactly 6 ft tall.. so z should be 6ft.. the other dimensions don't matter but when you scale it you like to keep the same proportion of the tree so now you kinda have to manually calculate the x and y. Hope my question makes sense

    • @exposeacademy
      @exposeacademy  6 років тому

      Hi Alex, that's very easy. After you do the scaling with the "transform toolbox". Right click on the scale button in the main toolbar. You will see the scale value of the axis we scaled before. Just copy paste that value to the other axis.

    • @Alx18889
      @Alx18889 6 років тому

      Sir, you almost saved my life and I thank you for that .. but hear me out.. So I did what you said.. and it worked perfectly on a standard primitive (box) that I just built .. Excellent .. good... but you know what ? I don't like standard primitives.. I LOVE editable polys! and guess what... like you said in this video... the scale value remains 100% It does not change no matter how much I scale and scale..so why doesn't this trick work for editable polys also? why are programs so flawed and why is there not a checkbox that says "constrain proportions" ? like in other software i use.. damn..
      So Mr Expose Academy please save my life once again and tell me how to use this trick on editable polys also... please help :(
      Your biggest fan,
      Alex

    • @Alx18889
      @Alx18889 6 років тому

      PS. I'm using max2017

    • @exposeacademy
      @exposeacademy  6 років тому +1

      Yes you are correct, 3ds max is a bit lacking in this department :). You know, even the transform toolbox was actually a free plugin back then. Autodesk decided to include it in the official build. It is very old and never had any improvement since it was merged to 3ds max :(
      Scaling in sub-object (editable poly) mode is different than scaling in object mode. This is true not only in 3ds max but on all 3d software in the world. When you scale in object mode it will alter the scale value. While scaling in sub-object mode will not alter the object's scale value. So essentially you want to scale in object mode for the tips I previously mentioned.
