For me one obviously Changes (e.g. learns to use the boots to escape the guards) and only then Returns home.

FilmInTheMaking Trust me it's worth it.. it starts very mediocre but from the later episodes of season 1 till now it's fucking amazing. Easily the most 'adult' adult cartoon..

Bojack Horseman is legitimately my favorite television show of all time, as well as the most human show I've ever watched.

Decisive decision: a decision to make a decision, where one must decide upon the decision that must be decided if one decides to decide a decision that must be decided. 🤔

Decisive decision? Do you eat edible food and wash it down with drinkable liquid water in H20 form afterwards?

I think Dan is Rick and Morty is Justin. They watch a movie together and make comments how they would address plot holes and continuity errors and using them for improv games. Rewatch any episode as if this was improv.

Can someone help me please? The hardest step of the story circle for me to write is step 7 the return. When the character goes back to where they started what do you write? Just them traveling back?

@kungfuLenny well... I don't like it. And here's why. Jerry is the protagonist in this story, right? So, why is Rick the one who changes in the end? It doesn't follow the story circle, and it's kinda weird how you abruptly change focus. And there's more, the fact that Rick just solves the conflict is a classic case of deus ex machina.
But besides that. I like your idea that Rick cares about her daughter happiness. It's sweet.

I think that this sheme for writing an episode is definitely not what makes rick and morty special.

+Catherine Kovnat Hi, actually the video that NotJustinRoiland uploaded came out a day later than than this video, the subject that I cover in this video was first poured out to me by a UA-camr called Griffin Hammond.

Rick and Morty is absolute garbage compared with Community. It does none of what is described in this story circle: 1. These aren't characters; they are parodies. 2. They don't need anything; it is fabricated to tell a boring story. 3. They go to a place that could not be more familiar to Morty. 4+5. Their search is simply filler -- useless content. 6. They pay no price. It is as fabricated as the thing they are looking for. 7. They return to the same useless world that they came from. 8. There is no change, because they aren't characters; they are parodies that can't develop. Apply the story circle to Community seasons 1-3 where Dan Harmon actually uses it properly.

how much fucking character development do you expect to get in episode 1? they literally just made this world, why would they make huge changes to it right after? look at some of the other episodes, there's actually a lot of character development. it was a really stupid idea for him to choose the first episode, he should have chosen something in season 2. yes, they are technically parodies, but they're changed enough that they're unique. if marty and doc brown can change, why can't rick and morty? please get a fucking life.

Game Train I only used episode 1 as an example for the same thing that is present in other episodes I watched. Not sure which season though. Regardless of whether they actually turn into characters at some point, this isn't even 10% of the problem of this show. There is more content in an avengers movie than Rick and Morty. If you don't have the stomach to interact with people you disagree with, then go hide in your bubble and continue to eat shit.

Why does every cult following have this kind of fan. I saw it with Firefly too.
"EVERYTHING BUT MY FANDOM IS POSER BULLSHIT."
      Community was good. No question.
as Game Trainsaid, there Is Character development and motivation. Just like in Community, you gotta look a little deeper. It's a different animal though, hard to compare the two.
