I appreciate the video. I got to the point you showed, but really wish you would have completed it by showing how to measure the piston and cylinder. I'm going to look for other videos on how to now, but if you had it here I'd been able to continue completely with this project. Please consider adding it on. Thanks! Great video. :)
Yo btw something he didn't say it that when you pull the c clip out and you aren't using players it will shoot out like 20 feet so put your hand in front of it
You may or may not be able to answer this question but how hard would you say this job is for a first timer? I’m fairly comfortable working with engines I do all the work on my cars. However I’ve never removed a head on anything before and I’m a bit nervous about getting the timing right and all the seals right. Is it pretty straight forward with the service manual and just takes time to get things right. Or is it more of a job where expertise is needed and I should just contact a local shop? Also, my exhaust port on the head is covered in carbon. I haven’t done a compression test but I know I need to replace the head seals so I figured I should just do a full head rebuild while I’ve got it apart. Everything is stock parts from 2005. Would you recommend I try this or take it to a shop? I won’t hold you accountable haha just want some advice to consider form someone that’s done the job before.
I have this exact scenario and contemplating whether it's financially practical to invest the money in my bike. I have an 05 with little compression....I paid $750 for the bike and feel I could easily sell it for $500 in parts, what do you think this exact job woulod cost to have done?
my 2004 ttr125 has low compression like I can hand Kickstart it. like use my hand to push the Kickstart down. it ran ok last time it was running but when I killed it. it would not start so I made the idle higher and it started or I just put the choke on to start it. then I went to start it today and it took like 30 kicks and the motor ran but died in like 3 secs. how can I make my bike turn on in like 5 or 4 kicks? any ideas so I have to do what you are doing
I am currently rebuilding a ttr 125, I am using original parts, but of course they dont work. Mainly does anyone know good tips to cleaning and making the carburetor run clean and right. Thanks.
Josh Demers i own a 2004 ttr 125. if you go to your local advanced auto parts store they should sell this bottle of carburetor cleaner. all you have to do is remove the float bowl and spray in their and spray all the jets also make sure you get everything out.

How much does this usually cost to get done by a mechanic?
about 1500 from a dealer usually with parts labor tax
@@RWWRENTAL lmao! Well shit sign me up to be a mechanic. I know 12 yr olds that do this themselves.
@@billyhickey2330 nothing stopping you from opening a shop, except the mechanic is not the one getting the $1500 lol its the greedy shop.

+Neal Sleeper its needs either a piston and ring which range from $103 to $125 or valves
Or a camshaft. I went and got a piston and rings only to come to find I had a bent camshaft. Waste of $150 for the piston kit.
Just wondering why you didn't just do a leak down test?
The Other Guy Gangsters don’t do leak down tests
Can you help me out with some work on the same bike my kick start is stuck I have no idea why
Love the sound track. 70's

What brand compression gauge? It's not a HF unit is it?

Any tips for holding the crankshaft so it doesn't spin when taking the cam bolt off
Screwdriver in the timing mark
