I think Daniel Ricciardo is probably the only F1 driver I could go out for beers with and just have a great night of conversation with. He’s just a really nice and happy guy that doesn’t take himself too seriously and very much a ‘car guy’.

It’s so nice seeing someone like this explain this stuff with so much passion and joy. I’m incredibly familiar with drag racing and building engines, seeing a professional in the 1% of his craft explain this with such enthusiasm is refreshing.

The most impressive driving I've seen are when rally drivers have a hood go up and they finish the course blind, trusting the co-driver's track notes to drive the rest of the course. That's absolutely amazing.

I've watched Ricciardo for quite a while (probably since his F1 debut). I don't really follow the drivers that much, so I have to admit I never knew he was so awesome. Fantastic breakdown, and I'm glad I finally watched it 2.5 years later.

Fun fact: One thing you'll notice in the Baby Driver alleyway clip if you look closely when Baby drifts around the truck the front of the Subaru actually clips through the back of the truck. it was one of the stunts that were too dangerous to do a 100 % practically so they did the stunt without the truck there and edited the truck in. Still did really great job making it look realistic since you don't notice it unless you know its there. I can't unsee it now though lol

At first I wondered how a busy racing driver knows so much about these movies... then I remembered they spend half the year flying around the world and probably have tons of time on flights to catch a movie
They were motor heads, race car freaks before they could drive. Watching these movies as kids made them become race car drivers.
