  • This week’s guest on Impact Theory is Timothy Sykes: a penny stock trader who turned $12,000 of Bar Mitzvah money into $4.8 million and became a millionaire before graduating college.
He’s also the author of American Hedge Fund (amzn.to/2VHRtUj). In this episode, he talks about his rules for success in investing, why education is so important and why he’s grateful for all of his losses.
    SHOW NOTES:
Why Tim Sykes is so hardcore about education (he learned all he knows through the internet) [2:47]
How he traded up with $12,000 of bar mitzvah money and became a millionaire before graduating college. [4:11]
Why people are going to fail in trading - he was wiped out at first because he “didn’t know the rules of the game.” [6:31]
How to learn the rules of the game [8:04]
As he says, “The key to making millions is making small profits over and over again.” [9:19]
The difference between the people who win vs. the people who don’t and why all his students are from the midwest (it’s boring) [10:49]
Why you should study the Egyptians if you want to create an empire. [11:33]
What personality has to do with success and the key patterns he uses. [14:31]
Why he thinks it would suck to have a billion dollars (but a few million is okay) [16:37]
His tips for travel and having an amazing transformation [20:45]
Something that would surprise people about being rich [21:16]
Why now is the most unique time in history and most people are wasting it [23:18]
How he got through the big losses in his career and used this strategy to get back to where he was. [27:30]
Why he’s grateful for all his losses and says that without them he wouldn’t be a complete person. [30:36]
    QUOTE:
“The internet is the most amazing tool we’ve had in centuries probably since the printing press like 500 years ago.” [20:02]

You're such an inspiration. I've decided to go forward to set up sanctuaries for farmed animals and want to make money to help fund these places.
They're always in desperate need for medical care, supplies, food, shelters, etc.

It’s like no matter what walk of life your from, or how much success you’ve had, we come together around real wisdom. It’s so reinforcing to see other people who have that drive and dream. Dreams don’t die unless you let em die. I won’t ever let that shit die, and to see other people with that mentality is just what life’s about. Live and love that uncommon life. Damn dope indeed man.

Tom Bilyeu i think this is the first time you bring a trader thanks this shows you are open minded. What Tim says is so true, what i must value from myself is transparency and honesty and in order to be a trusted trader the best is to show your trades to your clients, and to do this really takes guts because you are exposing you are not perfect but this what really is worthy. I am a FoRex trader, but i will definitely will join to Timothy Sykes. It is not all about the money is about growing, living and giving opportunities to the ones that does not know they can achieve wealth. Giving is what gives meaning to our lives.

Take advantage of the knowledge and resources already out there. A 12k advantage at 13 years old is not the reason most are stuck in shitty situations, it's the lack to actively searching for solutions.

Love the message about wasting potential by hoarding a billion dollars in your bank account rather than using it to influence good in the world. No one needs that much money. It’s a statistical fact that after a certain amount of money your return on happiness diminishes exponentially. Keep it up man!

THE NUMBER ONE THING I LEARNED FROM TIMOTHY SYKES...was how to think and dream big. Through him, I was exposed to the larger world of entrepreneurship in general, which led me to great personalities like James Altucher, Gary Vaynerchuk and or course Tom Bilyeu. Thank you for having Tim as a guest on Impact Theory, I've been looking forward to this episode for quite a long time!! Tim has a very "tough-love" style and approach to his teachings, and can be very hard on his students at times. But what Tim is great at, what Tim knows how to do best....is how to INSPIRE!! How to lead people to shift their MINDSET (and self-limiting beliefs), into one geared towards dedication & success. There's no catch, no scheme, no trick...if you want to change your life, you need to stay dedicated to that process and never give up! Hard work and dedication will always win in the end. Thank you Tim. Thank you Tom. People like you are helping to change the world. Namaste 🙏
