I love that the water serves as just a normal way to traverse the world, instead of as a barrier, trial, or just speed bump almost like in a lot of other games. I also really like the art style, it kind of feels like the embodiment of the nintendo switch; a colorful and simplistic outer shell that holds a much deeper story and secrets below.
This game looks pretty unique in terms of visuals and the gameplay seems like it would be pretty fun. Hopefully this game won't go too far under the radar and people will notice it.
Honestly my first thought at the gameplay is that Sonic games should pay careful attention. It looks to me like some excellent execution of speedy-slidey platforming that looks very natural and interesting. Sonic games would obviously adapt it in their own way and not just be sliding but running, and probably also be faster. It just looked like both games have similar notions, but Wavetale, imo, executed the concept far more elegantly and naturally...
Man I honestly wish games had more physical releases lately... everythings just digital now and not tangible. It scared me at first, got used to it, but things could go wrong ...
@@Velossitee couldn’t agree more, I never thought this day would happen so early in my life, figured I would be pushing more gray hairs by the time digital was more mainstreamed 😁
Agreed ! I always opt for a physical edition when there is one. I never buy a digital game before it lowers to a price way below and even sometimes renounce to a game if it has none. It may not be visible, but we are probably numerous to value and prefer real editions. Loved the OST for this trailer, can't wait to check out the rest of the score. Love the heavy 3D Sonic games influence. Hope I get enough money to buy it soon, I want to get lost in this game.

I managed to get to play this and review it before release. It's honestly a great game. Roughly 3.5 hours long. Hopefully, there's a day one patch for it on Switch, as I did come across a few bugs. There is a demo on Steam if anyone wants to try it out first.
@@Big_Dai That's the lowest length I've heard so far, seen more so roughly around 4/5 hours, depending probably on going after collectables/exploring fully??? not sure I really hope they add more content some day, it's an absolutely gorgeous game and a really splendid concept in everything but combat (combat is kind of an afterthought. But it's still held together by the visuals.) Switch version definitely is in need of some work though.
@Rinienna that was very much my thoughts on the game. The game itself is great, but they could have done a lot more with (particularly with the sparklings only being used to purchase outfits). Hopefully we get more or a sequel
This looks so simillar to the game I always wanted to make, with the waves and the movement-focused mechanics with a large ocean as your playground for movement. Dammit! And this looks good too!
Watching this brought back feelings of nostalgia for Zelda: Wind Breaker; where the depths held many secrets and every island was home to a unique culture and people. It was the first time I felt that the ocean was one giant marvel ready to be explored- and this game managed to recapture that feeling.
I am a big subs over dubs kind of guy. So before watching the trailer, I wanted to make sure this wasn't actually a Japanese game dubbed in english (which I had a suspicion of because of this being Nintendo and the art style in the thumbnail). I could have saved myself the trouble of looking up the name of the publisher (Thunderful) because this voice acting is far beyond anything in anime/video game dubbing. I actually really like this game! Like others have said the framer rate can get pretty bad in some areas and there’s a couple of bugs, but it was still enjoyable! I do wish they built just a little bit more on the water surfing mechanic though. Like what if you could follow the patterns of large waves and use those to get air? I want to be able to optimize my speed using different movements other than just “hold zr and move r stick”
This looks to be a really good piece of work, I love the look of the gameplay, and the simple yet colourful art style, looks to be a solid title, sounds like it has good music too, if its available to buy (and not just rent aka digital only) in a physical release, i'll buy it for sure.
