@@junipercosmic6841 Agreed. I bought this last weekend thinking it was more explorative and open, but its not. Its cute and I've gotten to Three-town but the game is REALLY slow. Alot of reading. Battle was annoying to get used to.
@@strawberrybounce2 Yeah the battle system is just irgh 😣. It's confusing and then even when you get the hang of it, it's just basically selecting cards and is repetitive af.
It's a shame because it looks great, voice acting is fine, but it drags and after a while you realize you just simply aren't having 'fun'. 🤷🏼♀️

Grim Fandango was unique looking. After that games like Odd World, Alice MR, Giana Sisters TD, Little Nightmares just copied the aesthetics.
This game looks freaking awesome, but I think I'd go nuts hearing them constantly refer to a single die as a "dice".

I see a big pub like EA not pushing the game, if it doesn't get enough grass-roots attention, languishing for years like Puppeteer or ICO did before being discovered by normies. I recommend sharing this with people, if you want it to succeed.

But I read a few other comments pointing out that some dictionaries accept _dice_ as both a plural and singular, so I guess my grammatical snobbery is really just a personal preference at this point lol

This game is gorgeous and has a fun-ish/dark-ish story. Love it so far.
Of course it's EA that makes a game about RNG, that's their whole business model.

I’m not normally nit-picky about little grammar mistakes, but this one is big and distracting enough to keep me from playing.
Nowadays, 'dice' is an acceptable singular and plural form of 'die' according to dictionaries.

@@TeaBurn this has nothing to do with the education system failing but with language adapting. And everything making the english language more regular is good, since it will make it less annoying to learn. I use dice as a singular by years in the hope it would change. So I am glad to see it slowly does.

This reminds me of Jim Henson’s 2005 film Mirrormask! If you haven’t seen that movie see it!
Jim Henson died in 1990 he had nothing to do with that film
The company that bears his name produced it
It was a Dave McKean film
And Neal Gaiman co-wrote it with him

I'm a huge fan Gaiman's works in written form, and because of that, Mirrormask was s huge disappointment. Just like everything they tried to adapt from him to moving pictures: American Gods, Coraline, Beowulf, Neverwhere, Good Omens (the ending meh), Stardust... name it. Mirrormask had so many potential, especially because David McKean designed it (love his works in comics too) but they rushed it. With 2010+ vfx it'd have been a much better movie.
p.s. I have no idea why you call it a Jim Henson movie. :thinkingface:

About a year ago, the devs stated they had ideas for a sequel or spin-off. No idea if those plans have any chance of materializing, considering the studio merged with a different one not long after that interview released.

Edited to add I bought it in the sale last week and I played it to completion and absolutely loved it. I'm going to play through again and try and find all the story book pages as I didn't get them all this time. This is a great game its like being in a movie. 4+5 towns felt a lot faster than 1,2+3 and not as memorable if I had any criticism it would be that they didn't have as much story in my opinion as the starter towns but that may just be my feeling and not fact. If you don't have it and think you might like it then buy it. It really is a good game.

With a name like this and the trends, I thought it might be some kinda meta roguelike. But the story and art look incredible, and they're clearly putting more care and craft into a good story over a repetitive game loop.

Watching the trailer made me think that the game might have been produced in collaboration with Laika, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Still, the artstyle look beautiful and it will be interesting to learn more about the actual gameplay.

Well, I'm never going to sleep again
I was so uninterested in the title because randomized maps don't really do it for me. BUT then I saw this and the style and charm has won me over.

I loved Tim Burton, and this games really have a tim burton Art style!!!
@NUCLEAR My opinion it's not like "literally" have a tim burton ast style,, just saying "this games look a like tim burton style" coz I loved Dark Fantasy Gothic art style
I see many disappointed people
IMHO:
The story is good
The design and the mood are awesome
Also the world building is great because of variety between the six areas
Now, about the gameplay, i liked it but it's not perfect
Exploration and subquest are good, the problem with the strange but original combat system is that there aren't a lot of cards
Useful cards are not so many, so you have not much variety between fights during the game
Sometimes the game changes some rules, this is good but it's not enough
Furthermore at a certain point you buy all cards and there aren't new ones
Anyway I strongly suggest to everyone to try this game because it's a good game with good story and atmosphere and despite everything i liked this new fresh idea for the combat system
