You might have to choose it as Audio device in the preference settings in Cakewalk.
If you are using internal soundcard. Make sure Cakewalk is set to Wasapi shared, wdm, or mme.

Man I've got a red line across my screen stopping me from recording
Hey Dakota. hmm never encountered this before, but i would check your Cakewalk activation. Make sure you have Bandlab Assistant installed. You can open it then right click to refresh activation on Cakewalk by Bandlab.
I can‘t even open Calewalk no more🤦♂️
Sorry to hear that. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it? Might be a glitch
on my cakewalk it appears (unable to open audio record device, device may not support the current project's audio format or may be in use) how can I fix it?
Are you using an audio interface? I would check to make sure that the sample rate and bit rate match (44.1 vs 48 khz) Also make sure you interface is on first before you boot Cakewalk.
