The very moment you switched to the suffering subject I thought: "Ah this is a wrong decision. It hurts the channel. People are here for blender. They will stop watching and the Watch Time thing suffers from that." But then I noticed I just subscribed to your channel when you started talking about suffering. So my thoughts about UA-cam doesn't seem to work on your personality. It was a great video, awesome explanation, different strategy, and everything was so great. I loved every single bit of it. Keep up the good work. And Thank you for teaching me how to light my scene! :D
As a beginner in blender, most tutorials will introduce concepts without explaining why but you have explained every detail clearly. Thanks a lot man. God bless you
Man i usually don't comment on videos. But your whole video, the clear concepts & presentation style is unlike anything i have seen in YT 3d community. Keep up the good work man. You deserve more subs. & loved your music.
as a CAD to 3DSMAX user for years - recently switched to Blender i've been going through tons of lighting tutorials this is the BEST by far - and i'm only 8 minutes in! thank you!
First of all, you play beautifully. Thanks you for those little interludes between scenes! Second, it's always refreshing to listen a person who really knows what they're talking about regarding lighting. The final render has all the subtlety and nuance that a great piece of artwork should have, in my opinion. I learned most of what I know about lighting from being a life-long photographer, but Blender can be even more useful due to the flexibility of the software and the fact that you can just spawn in lights of any type as you need them (as opposed to in the real world, where you have to buy them!)
Dude your voice is so calming, the editing is such a good vibe, and the fact that you create all your music just makes it all the better. You are literally my new favorite tutor! There's something about you and the way you shape your videos that really fill me with happiness and help me stay concentrated. Not once did I find my self tuning out. I especially like your thought tinkering you do at the end of each video. It gives me a good note to leave on. I have seen so many blender channels with loads more subscribers than you. The amount of effort put into each video, I know it was created from the heart. Even if you don't even have that many subs, you are helping so many people. Stay confident, keep doing what you are doing, and hopefully more and more people will see this underrated channel. Thank you so much, I love you and your channel tons! This was the best blender tutorial I have ever experienced!!
AAA content. Jam-packed with information beautifully paced and argued.. no messing about. Didn't agree with everything, why should we? This is your way. Subbed immediately. Will recommend to everyone.
Hi again, guys, it's been a while! Great to be back on UA-cam :) Check out the Songs For Humanity video (Easy on Me cover): ua-cam.com/video/g-nbCZ9r5rE/v-deo.html I swear I always promise to myself, "let's just make a bit smaller and less laborious video this time", and this is the end result again... One of these days I'll actually manage to make a short and easy video :D But hopefully you find this tutorial useful! We have an SFH discord server, if you're interested! discord.gg/NP6tmZPkk5 If you have Blender questions or just want to hang out and chat, that's the best place to do it. The above link will expire after 100 uses, so if you need a fresh link just let me know! How is everyone doing? :)
I use Blender to help me set up scenes for painting references. This tutorial helped me create much more beautiful and sensitive lighting to paint. Thank you so much!
WOW. I am absolutely blown away by your tutorial. So clearly explained and easy to follow and understand, I'd bet money you're a teacher of some sort on the side because you absolutely have a talent for it. I've watched countless hours of UA-cam tutorials on Blender since 2020, and yours is by far one of the best ones I've seen. Subscribed and will be sharing your content with other 3D artists that I know, thank you so much for this!
Multi talented man you are. Awesome tutorial, glad I found your channel! Keep on doing tutorials like this, so helpful. Love your music interludes, unique approach and very soothing. You know your stuff!
Wow, I learned some really great techniques, thank you so much! :D I'll try stuff out with some older files I have. Interesting about mental suffering, too, and at the same time I'm seeing your many talents...love that you're sharing all of this with us!
Glad I found this video. You really gave me a comprehensive understanding of the art of lighting, and equipped me to be able to experiment lighting by myself. Thank You. Have a great one...!
Thank You very much! Great tutorial, I am using blender almost two years but still don't knew a couple of moments and tricks which You explain. And extra Thanks to the end words about suffering, just those words I need right now and this video make my day much better!!!
A really nice video but also a nice editing! It transpires that you put passion into what you do. And thank you for the final part, it was a beautiful surprise!
Excellent tutorial. I'm beginning my journey with blender and this is so simple to follow I feel cheated (!) If only I could give my modelling a spice up. I love the style you used here. Need to practice a bit.
Very nice tutorial super useful as I mainly use EEVEE for the 3D work I provide clients - in the download model there are only 5 leaves and the bench is missing - is there some settings to turn these on somewhere?
Hm. It's very much possible that the model is a bit outdated, since the leaves and the bench were partly made with Geometry Nodes (which have gotten many significant changes/updates since this video). You might be able to make it work by downloading Blender 3.2 and opening the file with that.
Thanks for the tutorial! This is very useful. I am a newbie to Blender (coming from SketchUp), so please excuse me for any mistakes on my part. But the model provided looks a little different compared to what you have shown in the video: (a) The wooden boards for the bench are missing, and (b) the tree has very few leaves. I wonder if I am facing this issue due to a local factor, or if you have pared the model down to reduce the file size. Any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I wish you show us how to good use color management tab with curves, also how to use Compositing to enhance your render. I understand people usualy do this things in Photoshop, but I try to made animation so that's not possible.
Is there a way to make The background whatever colour i want and it not lighting The objects"for example making a green background without The objects in The scene becoming green
I enjoy at 24:58 how you've also illuminated yourself and your background irl in the same way ahah!
The very moment you switched to the suffering subject I thought: "Ah this is a wrong decision. It hurts the channel. People are here for blender. They will stop watching and the Watch Time thing suffers from that."

I certainly didn't expect that much value outside of blender. How nice :)
I might hold onto that emotion a bit longer.

Really in-depth and helpful tutorial. I appreciate the differentiation between the "science" and "art" of lighting. Thank you so much for making this!
Thanks for the comment!
Lots of talent, skills and wisdom combined in a 40 min video. This was wonderful, thank you so much!
That expertly drawn line at 25:33 was flawless my man! I had to watch it three times.
