    Lyrics:
Girl I can't let you do this
    Let you walk away
Girl how can I live through this
When you're all I wake up for each day
    Baby.
You're my soul and my inspiration
You're all I've got to get me by
You're my soul and my inspiration
Without you baby what good am I
    Woh, what good am I.
    I never had much goin'
But at least I had you
How can you walk out knowin'
I ain't got nothin' left if you do
    Baby.
You're my soul and my inspiration
You're all I've got to get me by
You're my soul and my inspiration
Without you baby what good am I
    Woh, what good am I.
Baby, I can't make without you
    And I'm telling you honey
You're my reason for laughin' for cryin'
    For livin' for dyin'.
Baby, please I'm beggin' you baby
I can't make it without you
If you go it'll kill me
I swear it I can't live without you.
You're my soul and my inspiration
You're all I've got to get me by
You're my soul and my inspiration
Without you baby what good am I
    Woh, what good am I...

There are two blonde Steves from my personal short list of favorite bands of all time who died long before their time due to their life struggles: Steve Sanders of the Oaks, passing on at age 45 in 1998; and Steve Clark of Def Leppard, leaving us at age 30 in 1991. We still miss them both... May they rest in peace.

I love the voice of the introduction when he says 'ladies and gentlemen the legendary Oakridge Boys'! When a group has sung for as long as they have they are legendary. I know that the fans miss Joe Bonsall greatly because I sure do! But I have to admit Ben James is an excellent tenor singer! They needed some to sing it and Joe put his blessing on Ben and chose him. No none can replace another but he is there to help the Oakridge Boys to finish out the 'American Made Farewell Tour'! Which goes through the end of 2025.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, because I love the Oak Ridge Boys, and know pretty much all of their songs by heart. That being said, they did 'plenty' songs about drinking and cheating. The group was also riddled with suicide and drugs (especially for certain members). Doing an "occasional gospel song", was just to keep people like yourself, believing that the group was "wholesome". Apparently, it worked lol. Anyway, the ORB were/are awesome, but the humanity/struggles of the group, was where they often got their sound. Love them for who they are, not what you recreate them to be in your head :)

It makes sense that Richard Sterben was singing southern gospel music when him and Joe Bonsall were with the Keystone quartet. J. D. Sumner wanted to be in the business part of the Stamps Quartet instead of singing the bass part and had heard about Richard and his voice. So J.D. called him and he went to sing with them full-time! Not sure what year it was but he left in 1972 to join the Oakridge Boys. J. D. Sumner stayed with the Stamps Quartet and continued to sing the bass part. If Richard Sterben had not accepted the position when William Lee and Duane Allen called him to join the Oakridge Boys he would have only been with Elvis Presley and the Stamps Quartet for another 5 years because Elvis passed away in 1977! That was over 52 years ago and talk about job security they didn't have any other bass singer!

This single was released in 1990, before the movie in 1991. The Oaks made 6 studio albums with Steve Sanders (including Country Christmas Eve in 1995), 3 before this and 3 after. So it was actually almost dead center of the songs made with Steve, not at all one of the last.
