you are a hero! i have the teac 32-2b, i cleaned the pinch roller mechanism just removing the headblock mask and plate, and removing, cleaning and relubing the pinch roller arms, it is now better but not perfect, i just need to gently nudge the rollers before each session and then they work, but to do it properly i'd have to do exactly what you did, disassemble it altogether, but i'm not confident enough to do it :) you did a great job here!
Was a pain in the sphincter to do. I never worked on a reel deck before. Something about the belt material left a mess- black spots on the carpet that I can’t get out. It’s a nice deck and well worth the effort to get it running.
@@Mark5W8Comer yah these machines are beautiful and they sound insanely good. they are still worth the effort of bringing them back to life! i had the good luck of finding this 32-2b at a small 2nd hand shop near home, i was just searching for a 2track 15ips pro or semi pro machine, but they all costed an arm and a leg, this one came out of nothing for very cheap, everything i record on it sounds better than the original :) especially digital synths which sound thin and plasticky , if you saturate a bit they come out big and fat and just lovely
I have the same TEAC real to reel and doing the same repairs as you. Your videos were very helpful. I thought you might replace the counter belt as long as you were in there.
Yup! I should have, but didn’t… As I recall, I saw how the counter belt wrapped around the feed hub and didn’t want to deal with it. I really don’t care about the counter, but it is something I should have done.
It's a wonderful recorder.I have too.Thank you very much for this excellent film.
