    Dyson is a truly underrated character. The guy made genuinely improving society his life's work, but when he finds out what it actually leads to he really doesn't hesitate to destroy it. No bargaining or trying to have his cake and eat it too otherwise. He stays focused and committed, and gives his life to see it through.

    Linda Hamilton’s change from the 1st movie to the 2nd is phenomenal to say the least. All meek and mild in the 1st to Badass buffed out in the 2nd. Of course the acting change just blew me away!

      She was really buffed out too! There was no CGI to give her fake muscles back then!

    • @hdns4
      @hdns4 Рік тому +1

      @@PlumbPitiful I mean, there's not really CGI to fake muscles now either. That would be incredibly impractical and expensive for not much return, as you would basically have to model and animate an entire human body with a very high polygon count and accurate rendering, and it still probably wouldn't look great as replicating the way human skin stretches is hard to do in CGI. Replicating human body has been done a few times, but never really for muscles as far as I'm aware. The closest we get to faking muscles well is still to do it in camera with muscle suits, but of course those limit an actor's mobility quite a bit and also often look fake, so in most cases actors still will just bulk up if the role requires it.
      It's actually kind of shitty in a different way these days, as actors will often be asked to go through pretty unhealthy routines such as purposely dehydrating themselves before a shirtless scene in order to shed water weight and make themselves look even more muscular.

    • @PlumbPitiful
      @PlumbPitiful Рік тому

      @@hdns4 ... I know what you mean about the dehydration thing. That's what Hugh Jackman did for X-Men Days of Future Past. He did it on the advice of Dwayne The Rock Johnson! • @hdns4
      @hdns4 Рік тому +2

      @@PlumbPitiful I haven't seen Thor Love & Thunder yet but doing a quick Google search, it sounds like it all started from a bunch of incel trolls latching onto a single behind the scenes photo where she has motion capture dots on her arms. What those people fail to think about in their lack of critical thinking skills is that her arms are clearly just as big in the photo as they are in the movie, so clearly that's how big her arms actually were before any visual effects work and they were tracking her arm for a completely different reason. So yeah, just a rumor that's been debunked.

    The most amazing part of this movie is that almost all of the stunts are practical effects. The stunt where the helicopter flew under a bridge was so dangerous that none of the camera men wanted to film it... So James Cameron filmed it HIMSELF. Not only did he do the super dangerous stunt that no one else wanted to film once, he said "OK GUYS, LET'S SET IT UP THE EXACT SAME. I JUST WANT TO GET IT FROM THE REVERSE ANGLE.". The guy nutted up not once but TWICE for that stunt so he could make his film perfect.

    Facts about the movie. Robert Patrick could run up to 25+ mph in a sprint, he caught up to Edward Furlong driving the dirt bike several times, even taped him on the shoulder. Linda Hamilton's twin sister along with the twin guards are in this film, the twin guards were in Gremlins 2. Linda Hamilton forgot her earplugs during a take in the elevator and she's now permanently deaf in one ear, the movie used live blanks which aren't as loud as real bullets but damn close. Robert Patrick is also very strong, not body builder strong yet in the scene in the mall he was so pumped that Arnold's pause when he couldn't budge Robert was not rehearsed and left in.

    part three is surprisingly good too. with a female terminator, played by Kristanna Sommer Loken. the only flaw is the guy playing john conner looks nothing like the ones portrayed in the previous films. the extras on that dvd show how the terminator got his "Schwarzenegger" look and accent. its pretty funny.

    • @LadyDoomsinger
      @LadyDoomsinger Рік тому

      @@lewisner There are many ways to resolve time travel paradoxes; some more elegant than others. I don't personally like the "parallel timeline" solution, though - since it seems like the most "lazy" answer, to just have a new timeline for every change.
      I like the "looping timeline" better; where the past happens as it did, because someone went back and changed it, and someone when back to change it, because the past happened as it did. Past, present, future, all interconnected - cause and effect. Of course the looping timeline solution offers no possible way to actually change time, since every potential "change" will have already happened in the future the time-traveler came from (though they might not have been aware of it).
      *Spoiler Warning for Futurama*
      For example, in Futurama, Fry travels back in time and becomes his own grandfather (yuck), but he always was his own grandfather, he just didn't know it before he went back in time.

    • @lewisner
      @lewisner Рік тому +1

      @@LadyDoomsinger "liking" one or another solution is irrelevant and Parallel Timelines isn't lazy , it just works and has no paradoxes.
      The alternative is the one explored in the Outer Limits episode "A Stitch In Time" where every action by the time traveller Dr Givens changes the future and only Dr Givens knows this has happened and has to cope with the changes when she returns.

    • @LadyDoomsinger
      @LadyDoomsinger Рік тому

      @@lewisner Well, we're talking hypothetical solutions to a fictional problem - since time travel is not (and most likely never will be) real. So, yes, what it ultimately comes down to, is your personal preference. No solution is, or can be, more "correct" than another, as long as the paradox is logically resolved.
      And please, when I say Parallel Timelines is "lazy" I don't mean it's a bad solution, I just mean it's the simplest and (in my opinion) least elegant solution to resolve a paradox. Kind of like how breaking down a door is less elegant than picking the lock - both solutions work.

    In regards to your totally understandable confusion about the whole time loop thing: In the Star Trek: Voyager episode 'Timeless', where Captain Janeway counselled Harry Kim, who was trying to make sense of a message Voyager received from his future self that prevented Voyager's destruction in a timeline that now no longer existed since Voyager was saved. "My advice on trying to understand temporal paradoxes is this; don't even try."

    Arnold did some of his stunts, but had at least one stunt double on hand to handle the highly dangerous or skilled stunts. I think the motorcycle jump was probably one of them.
    When it came to the scene with the minigun, the stunt double was supposed to do the firing because it was so dangerous, even when firing "blanks." With an automatic weapon, you need heavier than normal blank rounds: there still has to be enough recoil to chamber the next round. In the case of the minigun, to actually spin the barrel at full speed, you needed very powerful blank cartridges even if there weren't bullets being fired. So the stunt double was supposed to handle the risky shot. But Arnold had to do it himself, because it turned out he was the only guy on set who was actually strong enough to lift it safely and hold it against the recoil of the high-powered blanks.

    That's probably the same minigun used in _The Predator_ . And the grenade launcher, too, most likely. Arnold's shotgun in this movie was later used in _The Mummy Returns_ by Brendan Fraser.
