The “color night vision” *IS* the starlight sensor. If you’re seeing B&W, your IR emitters are on and you’re *NOT* using the starlight sensor function. FYI. 👍
I use the V3 for my front porch area. I also have it set up in the window. I needed to turn off the status light and am unable to use the night vision because it all reflects back against the glass. Still, the clarity is fantastic. I do subscribe to PLUS. Feature I'd really like is to only be notified if a person is detected. Sadly, I must enable motion to get person detection working too. That means I am notified for all motions and motions with persons. That is way too many notifications. Thus, notifications are usually turned off. Also, if the pixelation is changed due to neighbor porch lights or car headlights then that gets recorded a motion too. This makes night notifications useless. Overall I like the camera and will continue using it but notifications will remain off.
Finally got my pre order recently after getting lost in USPS Hell. AMAZING $20 Cam and LOADSSSS Better than the v2! Night Vision just kicks ass in this version, color night vision isnt "Bad", definitely works but meh, its ok.. Considering getting the spotlight for the hell of it, but we should be able to use our own USB LED lights :/
Forgot to update lol.. I did end up getting the spotlight.. So firstly... For $10 the light is "OK", i have it located on the 2nd floor so the light is bright enough to light up the area with a dim "Moonlight" type of brightness, my DIY motion light does a better job at illumination though as it is around 1000 lumens whereas the spotlight is no more than 100 lumens on the High setting. Secondly.. the light comes with a micro USB splitter, so it goes from the USB cable to the camera and the spotlight. The good news is that you CAN use your own USB LED with the camera, the bad news is the spotlight has logic for Brightness and when to turn on/off so Using your own USB LED the light will always be on with no software way to turn it off.
Thanks for the great review. I am considering installing 4 of the v3 (1 indoor and 3 outdoor) and 1 Pan v2 indoor. I reside outside the USA and cannot access the Cam Plus. What are your recommendations? What are the advantages and disadvantages (benefits, cost and features) of the Wyze Cam Outdoor vs the Wyze Cam v3? What are your recommendations?
Hi Courtney, Wyze Cam v3 and Outdoor are similar. I personally like the battery action. If you are abroad, you might want to look into other options as you could be somewhat limited without Cam Plus.
They should have increased the price by $15 bucks, to $35... People would have still bought it over others due to it's clear superiority. Me, I want to buy it, I've spent hours researching various products, but they are supposedly having a "silicon shortage".... LOL :(
"They should increase the price" Said no one ever! . Lmao most people who want to control their finances aren't looking to spend extra $..(notice how I don't mention having or not having said money. It's just a smart person wouldn't part with more) Especially during this pandemic. Thoughtless idea 🙄
@@kweenjade01 ... Well, unlike you, I'm not selfish. $15 is MASSIVELY too low for a recording Camera. You're also asking for an inferior product, Chinese low quality parts and production. Do you know how much utter crap comes from China, how much MONEY and resources that are waisted because a HUGE amount of what they produce is crap? They could even make the camera quality BETTER by increasing the price, cause it's actually fairly poor. So, unlike you, I actually want a quality product for the price. $15, they are cutting corners, not to mention the crap wages and likely working conditions they are paying those in China to make the product. See, unlike you, I don't just think of MYSELF.
I take the time to warn everyone so you don't end up in the same situation as mine. Purchased 6 cams at end of April after reading raved reviews and watching positive videos.... We are now in August and I have 4 cams showing the "Red LED Of Death" (no flashing, factory reset can help this). Those cams are bricked just by simply using them (no power outage or poking around to try to do something fancy or flashing or anything... Simple most basic usage... Filming.)... To make matters worst since I am Canadian Wyze won't honor their warranty. Come to your own conclusion. Personally those 6 cams were my first and last Wyze purchases. Definitely not going to buy anything from that company. 4 cams out 6 is not just a fluke. This is serious Quality Check issues. You have been warned.
If its for a constant video feed theres no reason it cant be used for that, but if it comes to relying solely on Notifications then that may pose an issue.
@@ac1520 🤣why did I laugh at this? . Lmao yes I am aware j have a morbid sense of humor. But what's the point of life if ya can't laugh every now and then...
Stay away from the Wyze Cam v3 for now - they are having major connectivity issues. Some cameras are better than others, but in some lots, 50% of the cameras lose connection through a single wall. Which is sad - the night vision on these is truly unbelievable. And when in the same room as the WiFi router/access point, it connects much quicker than the v2 - just don't move them any further away! I would STRONGLY suggest waiting for v4 - or until they recall these and replace with working ones - I have a feeling they have an antenna problem during manufacture (the most common problem with embedded / IoT devices)
I have not encountered this and i have 2 v3's. so as with everything results may vary. As far as WIFI connectivity goes, that will ALWAYS depend on the Router/WIFI Strength and anything between them not just whether or not the V3's themselves are at fault.
u didn't show alexa integration? 'show me the wyze cam v3' , it takes like 10 secs to load the video = very bad latency/lag so its not really that great
It was like that with V2 also though, but its more consistent with the V3 and offers better results than the V2 when used with Alexa, but that has to do with Optimizations with Alexa also not Only the V3.
There’s a Wyze Outdoor which has an internal battery. This is the v3, which can also be used outdoors but is a different model. Only the v3 has the starlight sensor for full color night mode, and the internal battery on the Wyze Outdoor isn’t removable or replaceable, making that a short-lived disposable product, imho. I returned my unopened Outdoor cams when the v3 was announced and couldn’t be happier I did.
@@irmags82 There are 25Ft long or so Micro USB cables available, that should help in being able to hide the power adapter, and as long as the camera isnt within reach someone shouldnt be able to unplug it, also assuming the usb cable itself is hidden so it cant be cut. Etc so on.
It only uses 2.4GHz WIFI Band. If you mean 5G as in the Mobile Network it DOES work with that, whether or not Wyze has an app for iPhones i dont know as my preference is Android, they should have an apple store app though.
If you turn off the IR it can be pointed out a window with minimal window reflection issues, but as its Outdoor rated the best results would be to have it outside. And it doesnt HAVE to be by a door, you can put it anywhere the USB cable will reach.
Great review. Very detailed. Thanks!
SIMPLE AND TO THE POINT . EXCELLENT

How do you turn on the colour at night time setting on not clear how it works thanks
is person detection only available with subscription?
Nice detail. I have several v2 since release and am looking forward to replacing with v3. The real question is what to do with the v2 we'll have!

No, but here is our latest video with this camera for you ua-cam.com/video/kya1GfC-pT0/v-deo.html

Check techwithbrett’s review. It’s super in-depth on the outdoor cam. He said around 50m

Did the V3 get removed from Amazon? I only see the V2
Potentially, that or sold out!
It's always selling put. Even Wyze official site has them sold out in several areas right now.
YOU DIDN'T GROUP YOUR CAMERAS
YOU GET SPLIT SCREENS WITH ALL THE CAMERAS IN GROUP LIKE TRADITIONAL SECURITY CAMERA VIEWS
Grouping is definitely the move

V3 notification speed is? My V2 is about 19 secs.
We didn't have anywhere near that kind of lag in our tests
can it detect through glass window or have to be outdoor for the front door?

What size capacity sd card can the Wyze v3 accept without any issues ?
128gb
YES! See above
