How long do these reels usually last? Like when do the gears start to wear out and it’s not too smooth anymore?
The chip may not work eventually but id say probly a good 5 years if you take care of it but some people have a had shimano reeels that still still work after 15+ years
What rod size and action is that
so how would you compare that to the curado dc so i would know how it is?
double the price is about all I got to say 😂 I mean for what we fish we really don't need a $500 reel but Shimano got me hooked lol. I'd get the scorpion since its more exclusive than the Curado and has the same iDC5 as the Metanium DC

Scorpion. It’s cheaper and has the auto brake. They all work great

I notice you switch to right hand to cast and switch back to the left hand to hold the rod and reel in. Kinda extra step to be honest.
set it to the line and tie on anything and no adjusting. By far the best lazymans reel.

Brandon Mitchan on my metanium yeah, cause it has Fluoro but on my Scorpion it’s set to braid. The curado has braid as well but there’s no internal adjuster for it

I need advice from everybody that has the Shimano Metanium DC XG, so I bought myself a brand new Metanium DC, the only thing that is botherling me is the small Wind level Pipe where ur line floats through ( the small pipe that moves left right). That pipe is really loose for me and you can move it a lot ( I don't know if that is normal). Please advice,
I think a little wobble is fair. But if it’s really loose I’d take it to someone who can tighten it and works on reels

Fish that pond at Hall Park quite often but try to stick to weekends so less eyeballs that can complain. Only time I was kicked out was on a Sunday by a security guy on the bigger lower pond. Curious what as their reason for saying you couldn't be there?
Jason Hanson you know it’s funny but I think I’ve been kicked out more on weekends when there’s more foot traffic at the park with kids and families taking photos than business days where’s there’s less people walking around and security is probly busy inside as well. Either way they’re always cool and acknowledge the fact there’s no “NO FISHING” signs so they’re just spinning their wheels

Westin Smith ok I was about to say. I love diggin my square bills. Get tons of strikes when it digs into a rock or a limb and I pause it. And bam we get slammed.

And with the paddle tail upside down the bait digs down more. When the paddle tail is rigged normally the paddle tail doesn’t kick as much and tends to rise in the water column.

Cause it’s a good habit too have. Plus if you have the settings set to where you don’t have to thumb the spool at all then you won’t get as much distance.
