Mk9 Kahn was good but I wish they made him exactly like Midway Kahn he's still very smart but makes some dumb decisions and should have kept his original plan for mk3
Best Villain Adaptations: 1- Tagawa Shang Tsung (BOTH Adaptations) 2- Mortal Kombat II/UMKIII Shao Kahn 3- Mortal Kombat (2011) Shao Kahn (It's good, but there are some misdirections that I didn't like. But he's top three for that Pyramid scene ALONE.) 4- MK Mythologies Quan-Chi (he deserves his flowers IMHO) 5- Mortal Kombat 11 Kronika (despite her flaws, she did a serviceable performance) Honorable Mention: Onaga a.k.a. The Dragon King, Shinnok, Kano (MK9-MKX), + Fred Tatitiscone? (The VA for Shao Kahn from Legends) Blaze and the other Quan-Chi performances can stay begone.
I like Kronika. She is the most overhated character in the entire series. Her design, voice, abilities, fatality and all her unique elements makes this character special. I like the hourglass concept and look, all her stages are beautiful. I love that she is the mother of Shinnok and Cetrion, which makes her someone beyond good and evil. Her T-Rex attack alone is better than any other boss attack, it is just crazy. I like that she is connected to Shang Tsung souls collecting and she sum up all the 9-11 games in some way. Yes, at the end she is quite weak, but she is not a fighter at all, she's just a keeper of time: Geras and others are for her to do all the bloodwork. I also like that concept. One one more thing: Onaga and Blaze are below F tier for me.
Back in the day, my least favourite thing about Tagawa Tsung was that they made him look like a triad thug instead of a Chinese sorcerer. This was not his fault, but it did affect how I felt about his portrayal. Now that he's been brought back into the fold with the latter design, he's the best Tsung by a country mile.
I honestly want to see a Black Dragon/Red Dragon tier list next, because I'm especially curious on where you would put one of my favorite MK characters, Kira, on the tier list, and maybe you could talk about potential for characters as part of the criteria.
Great video!! Well done! I like the idea of Kronica. I wish she had a better name because it always makes me think of Konica printers. Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn will always be S tier.
1:18:30 Quanchi has always been one of my favorite characters even though he is a chump in the story. His looks and his magic are badass. There's not really any MK characters that i don't like. They all grew on me.
Shao Khan is one of my favorite villians, period. Its a shame what they turned him into in MK1. They turned him from the ultimate badass to the biggest jobber.
@@FAiRWAYxIt's just par for the course. The MK writers need to either reconstruct with its golden writers from the past, or take serious notes from Infinity War how to build a formidable antagonist. Considering their story mode from MK1 was pretty much Temu Modern-MCU.
So MK2 SNES my cousin used an infinite life cheat and made it to Shao khan.Khan used so many shoulder charges in a row without stopping that my cousin started to lose health even though he had unlimited life cheat on.
I’ve been watching this for 20 minutes so far and no bosses have been ranked yet. Great video so far but I honestly forgot what I even clicked on at this point lol
Gameplay wise, I find MK3/UMK3/MKT Shao Kahn to be the most difficult final boss. In fact I found him to be the most difficult opponent, period, with MK2 Kintaro right behind him. Stand at range? He shoots his extremely fast force ball. Run at him? Shoulder charge. Jump at him? Upwards shoulder charge. Get cornered? Hector Camacho speed punches. And if he's just pissed? Hammer smash.
I personally would rate Kronika over the bottom of the barrel picks, so slightly above Shinnok. If for nothing else the stakes in that storymode (prior to Aftermath). As well as making certain characters returning possible. Which is a far greater contribution that anything from Shinnok and down did, imo. She's still a bad villain, but has some merit.
As a kid I found Shao Kahn pretty cool in a wrestler heel (right down to the pointing and trash talk) kind of way, but growing up I don't really get the appeal of his design as a FINAL boss, aesthetically anyway. He's basically Conan in spiky armour with generic TV baddy voice, a barbarian look doesn't really give "terrifying demon lord". More of a muscle-bound sub boss vibe before someone more mysterious and powerful. Look at how sinister Quan Chi looks and sounds in comparison, Or especially Shang Tsung, just so much more interesting thematically.
I feel that after Shao Kahn being insanely hard in MK9 (even on vrry easy), they nerfed the resulting bosses onwards. Shinnok, Khronika and Titan Shang Tsung were too easy, even on hard difficulty.
I will go for my favorite design and imposing forms: Shao Kahn Armaggedon Old Shang Tsung MK 1 Motaro MK 3 Onaga Deception Goro MK1 Quan Chi MK4 and Mythologies Cetrion MK X Then the not so good or lame: Shinnok MK Mythologies Moloch MK V Kotal Crap MK XI Mk3 Shang Tsung Satanic Shinnok MK X Dark Kahn MK vs DC Blaze Deception Kintaro MK IX Kronicrap MK XI
Try Onaga with anyone else than Liu Kang without shattering Kamidogu. Good luck. Liu Kang has a handicap advantage for Onaga in that he deals regular damage. Everyone else does not.
1:30:52 Actually, he has 1 in my school vr game, but it's when he possessed Goalius to kill Exogon (The Fatality starts with Goalius burning the victims eyes, then he tears off the right arm then burns the enemy and finally Oblivorates the victim with Goalius laser wing lasers and core blast)
What’s wrong with Quan Chis look? I think he looks distinct, smug and evil. He might not look like a scary final boss, but as a scheming mastermind he looks the part. I also love these smug sorcerer types. Him and Shang Tsung are bad ass. Also his voice actor in 9 is excellent.
1:31:36 My brothers used to play Armageddon on the Xbox and it took them over 5 attempts before they switched to play as Jade in her bo-staff mode finally beating Blaze

Excellent job! I really enjoy these MK Tier List Videos & I appreciate all the Work, Time, & Effort You put in to make them as good as they are! Barakka was only one who was in the evil side of things mainly, but i always felt bad for him. Because he just wanted to lead his people and outworld together with all the races. He wasnt like Tarkatans should have whole outworld. Shao khan, sheeva, barakka, kitana makes quite good consule to lead the outworld. I also felt bad for Kitana because she had to watch her mom play her so many times, and she lost everything including liu kang. till the new era.
i just noticed a shitty game detail: 1:02:25 at the end of mortal kombat x cassie calls shinnok a son of a bitch, in mortal kombat 11 she's proven right as the main antagonist is shinnok's mother, kronika
I never got that. How did Shao have to poison Onaga before to defeat him, but in Armageddon,he takes him on one on one after getting grab and flown off and wins lol wth
well to be fair in taven's ending it says all the fighters came back even stronger. so maybe shao died against onaga initially, then was revived stronger and eventually killed taven to get blaze's power for himself?
Shao Kahn was a lot stronger then past Shao tho he wasn't afraid of him when he was sitting in that throne room remember Shao Kahn definitely was like nah nigga I can take you now 😂 also Merry Christmas
MY FAVORITE BOSSES: 1. Shinnok (as a fallen Elder God, he seems like a biggest threat, until Kronika came) 2. Shang Tsung (charming and evil sorcerer, he is one of my favorite MK characters) 3. Shao Kahn (even though he is main villain, I don't love him that much, MK9 is his peak though) 4. Quan Chi (as boss he is better that he is co-boss with Shang Tsung) 5. Onaga (can be swapped with Quan Chi) 6. Kronika (i don't like her and her timeline BS) 7. Blaze (he seemed to me more like a Argus servant that obey his wish than self-thinking evil boss with motive or plan)
The Deadly Alliance was my favorite. They we're crazy busted but weren't easy. When I was a noob I'd always swap to Kano or Hsu Hao when fighting Moloch because their B1, F2 weapon stance (they had to same moveset, just different names for the moves and weapons) was easy to land and you could cheese it. Onaga was good, the kamidogu offered an easy way to beat him. You got a damage boost and a free hit when you stunned him.
I love how you gave Shang Tsung the Ric Flair introduction haha..all you missed was the limousine riding jet flying wheelin dealin son of a gun haha...oh yeah Shao Khan is always gonna be the best to me and then Shinnok then Goro in last place
Sadly the state of videos is no different than that of Hollywood making girl bosses by making males weaker. We know earlier versions of Shao Khan would destroy General Shao and nearly anyone from MK 1.
Onaga really isn’t that easy if you’re not playing as zombie Liu Kang. I beat him as Scorpion before I realized I could mess with the difficulty, and I finally beat him and was annoyed at his unblockable grab. After complaining to my father, he finally revealed the “Spam bicycle kick” cheese, and I’ve rarely struggled with him since. So yeah, he’s easy when you play ad Liu Kang…not so much everyone else. Also I’ve never struggled with Kronika.
Shao Khan is the ultimate for me. When he appeared in what has to be in the top ten video game promotions of all time, Shao Khan lurked in the Living Woods and invoked fear and intimidation. His laugh haunted arcades and I watched him handle even the best players in the neighborhood.
I like Quan Chi as well! ♥ And Shang is my most favourite character, too 😀 I'm tired of the two-party system in the MK community, that if you like one you must automatically hate the other 😂 Writers did both of them dirty at some points, there's no need for rivarly, they're both cool in their own ways, period.
Shang tsung is easily best in his mk11 variation where he was at his most threatening and succeeded in his plan + he’s so badass and menacing at the same time in mk11 aftermath
Blaze is such a cool character. I like that Armageddons final boss isn't just an evil guy to be evil but rather a wanderer who has reached an enlightenment in a way and is now a gatekeeper to ultimate power.
I honestly didn't like the treatment two of the most iconic villains of all time got in this franchise. In those early days I remember fighting them were so brutal that defeating any of them could be considered as an epic story to discuss with friends. While Shang Tsung did turn into a normal and playable character from the 2nd game, Shao Kahn used to terrorize us in the 90s. Then he turned into a playable character. I'd still consider him ok back then because at least his looks still screamed "FINAL BOSS" all time. The mostly wide open torso with very little armor was like a dare from him saying "hurt me if you can". Then 2011 reboot came out (which in my opinion is the one of the best MK games), and his design was getting slightly less scary looking. He still was frightening to fight against. Then MK 11 happened, and he became a joke. Well, at least both in game wise and lore-wise he conquered 2 decades of gamers around the world. Great video btw!
Perfectly articulated Shao in the 90s. MK9 was a great and I think the last great Shao Kahn, although I don’t hate MK11 or MK1 Shao. He is a jobber in both but his design is still solid. I’m glad you like the video! Plenty more on the way!
Are the merry band of misfits who choose to follow Kronika not aware of the promises she's made to their other allies? She made promises to restore Wraith-Scorpions Shirai Ryu and make rhem powerful in the new era yet told both Frost and Sektor separately that they will lead the Lin Kuei in her new era. The one i really didn't understand was Jax sitting on Kronikas side despite the promises she was making to all of his enemies. It would be interesting to see just for a short while how the new era by Kronika would have ended. ALSO, if Liu Kang and Shang Tsungs victories were both "canonical" it would make sense that an era where both lost to Kronika would also exist
How would the minor character tier list look like (minor characters like mokap, Stryker, Kollector, hsu hao basically a character that has little role in the story, don’t really have a big impact on the games like reptile, and don’t appear much but are still playable)
Quan chi was always one of my favorite villains. I'm glad they kept him around for the most part while other characters in the 3d era get forgotten or overlooked he's stayed a big threat and fairly major character.
You gotta do protagonists next. Rank 1-4 liu kang, mk deadly alliance kung lao, shujinko, taven, mk 2011 raiden, mkx johnny cage and Cassie cage, and god of fire liu kang gor mk 11 and mk1
To me Kronika with her stupidity, arrogance and impossible desires and Dark Kahn with his single appearance and only taking the worst parts with none of the things that make them powerful of the two are at the bottom of the list.
I just hate Kronika as a character. She’s like a kid who changes the rules of a game as soon as she loses. ”my son lost fair and square after trying to take the world twice? Well it must be raiden‘s fault“. Shes like a parent who complains to teachers when their child gets a bad grade
MK1 got my old ass out just straight up outraged with the changes lol but so far so good. I'm also one of those people who don't just hate Quan Chi's design. I just hate the character. Now keep in mind his character is a near perfect villain and is underhanded so that's why which actually makes the character one of the more decent enemies and I think he's a B tier character honestly
Ya know, I just realized something. It would have made a deeper story if the mileena and kitana stories were merged into one. Mileena having perished somehow, like maybe during the first tournament only to be cloned this way could cause the tension between them and trust factors. What do you guys think?
I don't believe I've ever failed to beat Blaze in Armageddon on the default settings_Hes completely pitiful as the final fighter ( block and do a combo_rinse & repeat...on default difficulty he just stands there after you block him ) In fact with Melina you can fight him heads up on the most difficult setting mostly without blocking at all. He's just too slow

Original MK1 Shang Tsung is by far the most eerie and scary villain in the franchise
He’s up there for sure
Best Villain Adaptations:
1- Tagawa Shang Tsung (BOTH Adaptations)
2- Mortal Kombat II/UMKIII Shao Kahn
3- Mortal Kombat (2011) Shao Kahn (It's good, but there are some misdirections that I didn't like. But he's top three for that Pyramid scene ALONE.)
4- MK Mythologies Quan-Chi (he deserves his flowers IMHO)
5- Mortal Kombat 11 Kronika (despite her flaws, she did a serviceable performance)
Honorable Mention:
Onaga a.k.a. The Dragon King, Shinnok, Kano (MK9-MKX), + Fred Tatitiscone? (The VA for Shao Kahn from Legends)
Blaze and the other Quan-Chi performances can stay begone.
Onaga and Blaze are quite behemoths of a boss, would love to see more of them in the future, Btw i cannot stand Kronikas fatality!
Her Fatality is one of the few things I liked 😂
Quan Chi and Shinnok are the biggest boss goobers in MK, but you do excellent work with your videos!
So true! MK11 Shang is peak for me.
You forgot Fire God Liu Kang. If you picked Shang Tsung's route, he's your final boss for the campaign.
I honestly want to see a Black Dragon/Red Dragon tier list next, because I'm especially curious on where you would put one of my favorite MK characters, Kira, on the tier list, and maybe you could talk about potential for characters as part of the criteria.
Good idea!
Another awesome video! I really like Quan Chi's design and character, i heard that his original design is inspired by Destro of G.I Joe lore.
Great video!! Well done! I like the idea of Kronica. I wish she had a better name because it always makes me think of Konica printers. Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn will always be S tier.
Absolutely! Kronica printers could be a new meme template 😂
Lol finally dark Kahn getting some love
Make a video on ranking all mk story games
This on in the roadmap of MK tier lists
I wasn’t al fan of Kronika but tbh, I would definitely love to see her as a playable DLC
Yeah I’d love to play as her too
YESSSS! #KronikaForMK1
Damn, shang stung is such a cool villain. His portrayal on 11 is the best since he is portrayed by his movie actor. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa a legend
Onaga will forever be my number 1
1:18:30 Quanchi has always been one of my favorite characters even though he is a chump in the story. His looks and his magic are badass. There's not really any MK characters that i don't like. They all grew on me.
Shao Khan is one of my favorite villians, period. Its a shame what they turned him into in MK1. They turned him from the ultimate badass to the biggest jobber.
Yeah I think it’s an inherent issue with all MK villains to be honest
@@FAiRWAYxIt's just par for the course. The MK writers need to either reconstruct with its golden writers from the past, or take serious notes from Infinity War how to build a formidable antagonist.
Considering their story mode from MK1 was pretty much Temu Modern-MCU.
Quan chi and scorpion have always been my favorites since ps1 era
1:00:53 Scorpion putting his ninja talents to work, screaming at a guy who doesn't know he's there.
So MK2 SNES my cousin used an infinite life cheat and made it to Shao khan.Khan used so many shoulder charges in a row without stopping that my cousin started to lose health even though he had unlimited life cheat on.
Great video , really enjoyed that , good job , thanks ...
45:45 LOL
Did Liu Kang really think that Shao could be stopped by a simple “No, no, don’t do that”? 😆
Man u really put so much effort i thought this was gonna be shallow i gotta sub
Thanks for the kind comment and welcome aboard! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
S: Shao Kahn
A: Shang Tsung, Onaga
B: Shinnok, Quan Chi
C: Blaze
D: Khronika
MK Conquest Quan is the best looking and personnality. But to many fan have not see it being to young when it was released
MK guest characters might be a good choice for the next tier list.
Great list, really enjoyed your video.
Thank you for checking out the video, bro!
I feel that after Shao Kahn being insanely hard in MK9 (even on vrry easy), they nerfed the resulting bosses onwards.
Shinnok, Khronika and Titan Shang Tsung were too easy, even on hard difficulty.
Very true
Kronika was very spammy tho
Mk9 Shao khan was nothing to play with.. His attacks were like a reflex to how they were quick
Shao Kahn was pretty cheesable
Shao in MK9 was the easiest of the MK bosses, Shinnok and Kronica are much harder.
I will go for my favorite design and imposing forms:
Shao Kahn Armaggedon
Old Shang Tsung MK 1
Motaro MK 3
Onaga Deception
Goro MK1
Quan Chi MK4 and Mythologies
Cetrion MK X
Then the not so good or lame:
Shinnok MK Mythologies
Moloch MK V
Kotal Crap MK XI
Mk3 Shang Tsung
Satanic Shinnok MK X
Dark Kahn MK vs DC
Blaze Deception
Kintaro MK IX
Kronicrap MK XI
I would join Shao so fast. And they need to bring Onaga back.
Agreed on both counts!
even if they did given the state of gaming today on the AAA circuit no way would they do him justice.
An hour plus long video? I’m gonna pass the time at work with this one. Appreciate the time you put in this! Love your vids bro keep it up
I hope the 1 hour and 45 minutes goes by fast!
I like your videos because it’s not just going over the tear list you’re bringing history and facts into it ❤️
Thank you for the kind comment! It means a lot ❤️
In Mortal Kombat 1 he looks like handsome Squidward
1:31:36 My brothers used to play Armageddon on the Xbox and it took them over 5 attempts before they switched to play as Jade in her bo-staff mode finally beating Blaze
Yeah perhaps I was using the wrong character 😂
loving these videos, i just recently got back into mortal kombat after not playing since ps2 and 360 and it’s cool learning more about the history of certain characters🔥🔥
I’m glad you like them! I appreciate the kind words and support!
1:20:20 Let's Hope That The Best Final Boss In Mortal Kombat Deception, Onaga The Dragon 🐉 King 👑 Might Come Back To Mortal Kombat 13 A.K.A. Mortal Kombat 2 I Think 🤔💭 But He Is UnBeatable & The True Final Boss In Mortal Kombat History & I Think The Tease At The End Of Mortal Kombat 1 AfterMath & It Is Indeed Possible That We Get To See Onaga The Dragon 🐉 King 👑 Again
I could be wrong, but doesnt Onaga have a weakness to Liu Kang? Im like 90% sure Onaga has no damage resistance to Kang, like he does for everyone else
I’ve read theories that they’re related so I’d buy it.
Edit: would also make sense since he turns into a dragon lol
Excellent job! I really enjoy these MK Tier List Videos & I appreciate all the Work, Time, & Effort You put in to make them as good as they are! I have been a fan of this Series since I first played the Original in the Arcade in 92 and have been hooked ever since and it's been really nice to revisit all the Arcade and 3D Era games I grew up with as well as the Recent and Current Installments.....
💀FLAWLESS VICTORY💀
Glad you like them! I have a soft spot for the arcade/older console games because it's what I grew up with, so it's nice to revisit these games.
@@FAiRWAYx Same!!!

Lmao unintentional Easter egg
I never got that. How did Shao have to poison Onaga before to defeat him, but in Armageddon,he takes him on one on one after getting grab and flown off and wins lol wth
The biggest mystery in MK history. How did Shao Kahn win Armageddon? Lmao
It was just a retcon. They wanted to do a new gen roster post Armageddon originally.
yep. there's basically no way for shao to win.
well to be fair in taven's ending it says all the fighters came back even stronger. so maybe shao died against onaga initially, then was revived stronger and eventually killed taven to get blaze's power for himself?
Shao Kahn was a lot stronger then past Shao tho he wasn't afraid of him when he was sitting in that throne room remember Shao Kahn definitely was like nah nigga I can take you now 😂 also Merry Christmas
Shao Kahn being ressurected and immediately crashing out cause Kotal took his throne is so funny
General Kotal? Kotal KAHN
MY FAVORITE BOSSES:
1. Shinnok (as a fallen Elder God, he seems like a biggest threat, until Kronika came)
2. Shang Tsung (charming and evil sorcerer, he is one of my favorite MK characters)
3. Shao Kahn (even though he is main villain, I don't love him that much, MK9 is his peak though)
4. Quan Chi (as boss he is better that he is co-boss with Shang Tsung)
5. Onaga (can be swapped with Quan Chi)
6. Kronika (i don't like her and her timeline BS)
7. Blaze (he seemed to me more like a Argus servant that obey his wish than self-thinking evil boss with motive or plan)
How about a lore video for each game, also for each protagonist (Shujinko, Taven etc) ? (Subbed after the ninja video)
Thanks for the sub! Yes, I have a long list of tier lists I’ll be knocking out and protagonists is one of them!
20:07 Oh? I didn't know that he LITTERALY have the Joker's Fatality from "Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe".
Damn i did not know Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawas name at the time of watching the MK movie, i always thought he was Chinese! LMAO
Lmao I didn’t think anyone would get the reference!
@@FAiRWAYx6 months late but I IMMEDIATELY got the reference 😅
I feel like Dark Kahn is basically someone's oc xd
Looking strong by appearance , but not truly by strength because he can be defeated like every boss
Cool idea but poorly executed in my opinion. Theoretically he’d be the strong boss in MK history but that didn’t translate well
Sadly the state of videos is no different than that of Hollywood making girl bosses by making males weaker. We know earlier versions of Shao Khan would destroy General Shao and nearly anyone from MK 1.
You should do a ranking on the handheld mk games, even some ports like UMK ds, unchained & 9-vita someday.
I like that, but could be difficult to get those games. I’ll definitely look into it
Your videos are so incredibly well cut. You do a very good job!
Thank you ❤️
Onaga really isn’t that easy if you’re not playing as zombie Liu Kang.
And side note, I like Onagas Deadly alliance cameo appearance. Would’ve liked to see more of it
I wish Taven and Daegon came back in MK1
Shao Khan is the ultimate for me. When he appeared in what has to be in the top ten video game promotions of all time, Shao Khan lurked in the Living Woods and invoked fear and intimidation. His laugh haunted arcades and I watched him handle even the best players in the neighborhood.
Very well said!
@@FAiRWAYx I went back and watched the commercial, they sunk TONS of money into that promo. It's STILL amazing.
@@Kasigi03 I have to check it out!
Couldn’t have said it better myself
good work bro!!!!
20:01)
Why does this D'vorah image give me Scary Maze Game vibes?
Lmao jump scare
Shang Tsu & Quan Chi🐐🐐
Shang tsung is easily best in his mk11 variation where he was at his most threatening and succeeded in his plan + he’s so badass and menacing at the same time in mk11 aftermath
I think Chronica deserves a little better ranking based on how tough the fight was, her unique design, and brutal fatality.
Blaze is such a cool character. I like that Armageddons final boss isn't just an evil guy to be evil but rather a wanderer who has reached an enlightenment in a way and is now a gatekeeper to ultimate power.
Yeah Blaze is dope. A fun twist of a final boss
Love these videos
Thanks bro! Glad you enjoy them.
Awesome video!
I don't kno how i got here🤔
But im glad i made it💯👏🏾
Just got a new subscriber👍🏾
Shinnok and Quan Chi are both just Marry Sues of Shang Tsung
W Take
Quan chi destroys shang tho
Quan chi was always one of my favorite villains. I'm glad they kept him around for the most part while other characters in the 3d era get forgotten or overlooked he's stayed a big threat and fairly major character.
Onaga is my favourite just for the Deception intro alone. To this day, it's still one of the best cinematic intro's in gaming if you ask me.
You gotta do protagonists next. Rank 1-4 liu kang, mk deadly alliance kung lao, shujinko, taven, mk 2011 raiden, mkx johnny cage and Cassie cage, and god of fire liu kang gor mk 11 and mk1
Added this to the list!
The villains and bosses were always my favorite characters in Mortal Kombat.
Oh man I'm starting to remember Shao Kahns hammer, shoulder spam in MK9 after repressing that for years now.
PAIN
I don't believe I've ever failed to beat Blaze in Armageddon on the default settings_Hes completely pitiful as the final fighter ( block and do a combo_rinse & repeat...on default difficulty he just stands there after you block him )
In fact with Melina you can fight him heads up on the most difficult setting mostly without blocking at all. He's just too slow
(1:27:10) is the only villain who isn’t evil.
