Yeah but this isn’t really Eddie. Cobalt pulling his mind into hate. Without his influence Eddie would’ve definitely been heart broken but he would’ve understood.
Yeah, the negative speed force was messing with his mind. The old Eddie would’ve understand that and just walk away and yeah, he will be heartbroken, but he will understand and have a chance to start a new life.

I like how this actually shows Iris’s growth in her maturity. She had no doubt in her love for Barry compared to season 1, which makes sense since this is many years later.

I really think that the Eddie/Cobalt Blue arc is one of the strongest villain arcs in the last few seasons, so it's too bad that they saved it for the final four episodes. Thought it deserved at least a half season, maybe starting right after the Red Death arc ended.
Between the increase in the cost of VFX and the extra episodes they would have had to pay major guest stars, I don't think it was in the already reduced budget.
Or just taking out red death altogether lol.

@@joshz2491 Even then though, it's clear Eric Wallace rushed with Red Death. He probably didn't understand the character as well. But for Cobalt Blue, you can see how he was able to strategically tie the story into past seasons and make a villain us fans connect with. So, he should've just planned to have Cobalt Blue the whole time.

Yet Iris welcomed him and wanted him to stay. In the face of his attitude and his intentions she was right to make it clear so he would not hold on to whatever delusions he had about them being together in 2049. Even if she had tried to coddle him, he would have reacted the same because it was not what he want to hear.

Iris it's very haunting.
I love how they’re not only timing it back to Eddie’s unseen jealousy towards Barry, but Eddie’s own bloodline. Every thing about the colbat blue arc has been so amazing. They haven’t just made nostalgic references to season 1, they’ve actually been tying seasons 1 and 9 together in such a way. The night Nora died in the post crisis timeline, Eddie being re-incarnated in the future to then obtain his past memories in his other life and travel back to the present. I can’t wait until Colbat Blue resurrects every staple villain like Zoom, Savitar, etc, and I want to see a scene where Eobard Thawn is proud of Eddie for continuing the Thawn legacy and maybe Eddie sabotaging Thawn’s plan one last time.

Well, everything would be perfect but there are only 45 minutes of the show left, knowing previous episodes they will waste 20 minutes on emotional talks and other bullshit and we'll en up with Barry Allen 2.37 minute screentime

I think Iris handled this as best as she could. For 2049 Iris, it’s been over thirty years since Eddie died, and so it’s odd to expect her to have a super emotional reaction to seeing him again. I also think that it’s not twisting the knife further when she told him that, “It was always Barry.” He’s literally arguing that he could be married to her, and she’s making the point that that was never going to be his life, because even if he didn’t die, she’d have realized her feelings for Barry, because she always was in love with Barry, even when she didn’t realize it. Like that’s more than fair of her to make that clear. Her point is that she was always going to end up with Barry, and that Eddie is clinging to a life that he’d never had. She doesn’t owe it to Eddie to say anything but the truth, and if the Negative Speed Force wasn’t in his ear, maybe he’d have accepted the help and also accepted that he can now go live the actual life he was supposed to lead, which isn’t a life with Iris.

So it is possible that she had a differente reaction, because it is the future, she already had two kids, she gone through a lot. So for me a differente reaction from her part was expected. So much so that she finds it hard to believe it's Eddie and it's hard for her to give him a hug.
2:45-2:57 that was actually some amazing acting on the guy who plays Eddie. It's almost like the guy playing him could relate to the feeling for real.

He didnt change his mind in that moment, he just decided he was going to have that conversation with Iris, he changed his mind when iris brushed him off like nothing.
While Iris could've been better at her wording when dealing with Eddie, I think we can all understand where she's coming from. For Iris, it's been decades since Eddie sacrificed himself, and she's had time to heal and move on, while for Eddie, it feels as if it was only yesterday, so of course he feels hurt like team Flash doesn't care about him after what he did. A lot of people feel sorry for Eddie after he feels like his sacrifice was all for nothing, but I think a lot of people are forgetting how in season 2, Barry blamed himself for Ronnie and Eddie's death and because of that he distanced everyone around him, and how it took Iris months to recover and finally start dating again after Eddie's death. I genuinely feel for the guy, but Barry and Iris are both right in how Eddie's life with Iris is way into the past nowadays. Eddie needs to find someone else now instead of fixating on what might've been with Iris.

The actor for Eddie really did an amazing job, his character is so tragic and sympathetic, just sucks this episode was filled with more team flash garbage. Everything including Eddie and Barry was great though.

This scene is complexed in a way. What Future Iris says comes off as cruel but it bears some truth. Just because he wants a romantic future with her, she doesn't. She's not just gonna give up her marriage and family for some nutty whackshot with identity issues that came back from the dead because he feels its right. At the same time, I get it. She could've worded it a bit better

Back in season 1 people HATED Iris for being faithful to her relationship and not just dropping Eddie to be with Barry and now she is cruel for telling the man, who randomly showed up in her house 40 years in the future telling her he wants to erase her whole life, that she loves her family and offering to HELP him? Y'all are a trip really.
She should have been more sympathetic like Barry was. Iris was pretty cold given what Eddie went through.

Obviously I’m not saying taking revenge is the right answer, espically if it means having a whole timeline with people who have equally valued lives being erased, but I finally get where the anger is coming from out of Eddie. You’re telling me everyone’s going to brush off the fact how briefly Iris told Eddie his life no longer concerns Iris like it means nothing? Even Barry. When Eddie comes back you’d expect it to be more emotional but all Eddie gets is a hug and a quick thank you. Eddie was right he literally scarfirced himself to HELP FORM this timeline we know today and especially coming from Iris, it’s like she literally shows no appreciation towards the man she once wanted to marry over The Flash. Like WTF. I mean I think we can agree if we were in a similar situation we’d be mad to when are friends glance over all the things we did and our fiancé makes it clear as daylight shes no longer has feelings for us anymore without hesitation. Like Eddie couldn’t catch a break almost 2 scenes in a row.
(I’m not saying she has to agree because obviously that would mean starting a whole new life over just like Eddie which would literally be obscured and of course unrealistic, but it’s like she had no empathy towards his view on things. But you have to understand that it's 34 years into the future, I doubt that it would have a huge impact on them, especially Iris, and I think for Eddie it's a little different because it seems like yesterday. But I do get why the negative speed force chose Eddie, it can feed on that anger and jealousy that he has towards Barry.

This part was a bit cringe to watch. How could Eddie be mad when he chose to end the relationship with Iris in the past after reverse flash showed him the future but what Eddie didn’t realize was that he got manipulated by reverse flash so the timeline would remain in tact. 😢

Here’s the interesting part how is Eddie trying to relive the past with Iris you could clearly see it. She’s in love with Barry and only him.
I mean, Iris once said "screw the future" to this man, it is time to assume it, lol. But seriously that scene and this whole episode was great.
What’s funny is Eddie broke up with her when he found out that she is married to Barry in the future from thawne . He said he always knew about her feelings for Barry when breaking up with her . Because he literally watched and been jealous from day 1 . Then he talked to stein and go apologize to her talking about a date he was supposed to have with some other chick and brought his favorite food to apologize . Not something she liked and than the same day he killed himself . He was literally dead the whole time past s1 . She’s been married since s4 and had kids . He knew her future wasn’t with him . That’s why joe told him no to trying to marry her . He may care about her but he was always selfish in how he showed it even now . I know it’s just the negative speedforce manipulating him though . Hopefully he get saved and could live his own life .

I mean Eobard wasn't a descendant of Iris, only Eddie that must be remembered. So did Barry steal Eddie's fiancé or end up with the woman he would have married (without the weird foster sibling history) if Eobard didn't interfere in the first place by killing Barry's mom....
I know this Eddie only knows Iris as his love but if he wants to talk about a lost future what about that woman who was supposed to be Eobard's maternal ancestor. What about the other successful Thawnes who may have done society good like find a cure for a future disease that will kill many? Eddie needs to make a new life. I do believe this is the negative force influence why he seems so off. Its been a day for him since he died, I can't see the Eddie who sacrificed himself get so crazy in little time cause Iris and Barry married.

This scene kinda hits close to my heart. A girl I grew up with, had a total crush on her and she got married about a year and a half ago. I finally gave up my feelings for her some time ago, but if I'd still carry a torch for her and obsessed the way Eddie is, I wouldn't recognize myself as the man I am. Love hurts, and sometimes you need to find the right frog that will turn into a princess.

The truth is I feel sorry for eddie because like him, i know what its like to be rejected and casted aside, but in my case it happened to me multiple times because im not flithy rich and shemar moore. There was a softer way to do this that would still ended up with Eddie accepting the NSF cause he's obviously not okay, but at least that would show Iris to be compassionate.
I mean, we know he's gonna be a villain and Iris (and Barry) are supposed to be the good guys. They could've done a better job with both Iris and Barry's reactions to Eddie's return.

Iris was having 0 compassion here and Barry could've been more meh about Eddie. They practically gave him all the reasons to go to the dark side. It would've been much better to see them both actually care about Eddie and at least try. But meh. They wasted time with filler episodes and the ridiculous Red Death arc when we could've had this arc spread out the entire season and had more of Eddie/Barry/Iris dynamic

They had Future Barry on the watchtower and they knew he'd get the message in 12 hours. All Iris had to do was just be civil. Instead, she goes full attack dog, yelling at him, berating him for having feelings. From his POV those events of S1 were a day ago, he's trying to understand what exactly has happened. And her brilliant plan as "leader" of Team Flash is to yell at a man, cause him to go crazy and create as villain. Good job Iris. Starting to see why Savitar wanted to kill her.
