bro no way you actually made me laugh? whats happening here?
The real question is why isn't this pined
Henry Stuart trey hates me
@@RudyAyoub Big sad... why?
The Tim Allan Wrench joke caught me off guard and I am a changed man because of it.
I actually laughed at that too.
the quality of this video is insane
Man, the effort put into the editing here is insane.
Never tighten up output jacks and pots without opening the cavity it's all fun and games till you rip the solders off the pot or the output jack of your instrument during a gig is a nightmare
You just need to make some connections touch to lose all sound in your guitar, that tool is just to ensure job to mechanics/luthiers....
Yep, learned that the hard way back in high school during about an hour before a recital.
@@GusMonkey13 I'm an amateur luthier I say this as I don't quite have all the tools I want or need to do everything but know how to do most repairs still kinda makes me Un easy to replace truss rods on neck through instruments though.
@@brandontadday6288 that's rough I've done that like 20 years ago before practice for a small gig at that time I had 2 basses but my second bass was an hour away at that time had to buy a cheap soldering iron and fix it quick (wasn't pretty the iron barely got hot enough)
Secret use of the cable tie: wrap it around your headstock strings.
Hair ties also work for that!
I need to try that
Decent list, incredible editing - thanks, Trey!
i like the more subtle approach to editing. The cutaways are shorter and it fits the flow really well
That emg hex nut driver is super handy. Side note: the Gary Holt solderless EMG pickup and wiring setup is sweet. Just put Gary Holts in a Hanneman Ltd. It's the Holteman.
That input jack tightening hurt 😂
1:10 ok I give up, you made me chuckle. happy now? -.-
yes pls
That string winder is the shit, I love mine. BTW, I've been using the cable ties for years, that, combined with learning the proper way to coil up cables has saved me a lot of frustration from untangling cables, and so much time not having to solder cables.
Great video man!
ty fren
Like an air strike effortless 🤪🎸🤘love your channel my brother 🤘keep up the great content!
Never ever tighten pots or inputs that way..they have to be held from the underside or you will destroy the wiring when they turn. Rookie mistake that cost allot of time and $ to repair, always remove the screws on a jack and/or cavity cover for this kinda repair.
You are so Right! He didn’t mention it and this is a bad advice
I bought Velcro brand cable ties that were in a roll like tape and it definitely made my life much easier, I have them on instrument, speaker and mic cables but also on my electric cords for my amps and pedalboard and anything that can tangle up. The Velcro ones are easy to find too, places like WallyWorld have them for a few bucks for a roll with a ton of them.
I got that exact same combination needle nose plier/wire cutter from Radio Shack, years ago. Yeah...
Since I got the ibanez tool,I never needed to search for any other tool, not just for guitar stuff 😍
Home hardware sells a set of Flip grip cutter/ wire stripper/pliers that are awesome.Stewmac have some similar as well, i use mine every day.
I never used those ties like that lol I just ordered them along with that powered string winder. HATE restringing my dad-burned guitars. Thanks :))
the little nuances of this video were amazing lol very entertaining
Ortega makes some good stuff I play there banjos, ukuleles, guitars and use there cleaning stuff... Now i need one of these too. Ortega you got a fan in me.
The winder clipper peg puller is a (Gear) Godsend! Also, I need to get those Velcro wrap dealies for my cables!
The absentee dad joke was savage.
Easy way to stop nuts coming loose, put some clear nail polish on the thread and then put the nut on, works great.
6:14 "Throw it in your gig bag and never have to tighten your 'input jack' again" - Trey Xavier 2021
I caught that too haha
I have the exact same pair of those flip pliers too and i have had them forever aswell. They were made by Mastercraft and the were called the Flip Grip pliers
I got one of those pliers back in the early 90s. Still use it to this day and I also don’t know the name of it.
The input jack and volume pot wrench probably fits the nut on the tuner post as well im guessing. Gotta be close. I always like the make sure those are tight when changing strings....
that Ibanez tool is GOD no joke I use it for all my guitars a must have !!
Dude I got an EMG hex driver, and no lie it actually broke the very first time I used it. It literally split down the side tightening a volume pot🤣
From this moment on, every person who hands me a tangled cable is getting called "Carol".
This should be a thing... It needs to be a thing.
I use the ibanez tool that came with my prestige more than any other tool in general.
This video made me way to excited over a little piece of Velcro
I just bought two relationshape gadgets. I feel dumb for not noticing the patterns. But thanks Trey
This video is VERY chaotic. I approve
“A power peg can be had for a about $20, and believe me, it’s worth every dollar.” Trey 2021
😂😂😂
that allen ranch key was the absolute best thing ever
The best is a Dunlap string winder with 'detachable drill bit' for fast restringing imho. No need to buy the small 'power peg' when you can buy a variable power battery drill from Harbor Freight for 15 bucks...
3:21 attack of the black spaghetti!!!
Behind the board beautifier known as the cable tie 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Man, I have always used those Velcro ties wrong....mind = blown!
Music nomad screwdriver. You can skip the ibanez swiss army knife and the emg flesh light
The Ibanez multi-tool doesnt have a .050" hex for Fender saddle height screws, its smaller than a 1.5mm
There you go
those plirs are made by husky. i have a pair and they are great.
I already have almost all of these but stayed because I was laughing my ass off hahaha
I kinda want the hexdriver on the pink fleshy color ngl
Nice
Also gonna rep the String Butler for anyone with a 3 on a side headstock that's not Brilliant in its design.
don't just mean gibson my fernandes has the same issue
Or buy generic cable ties and get 60 for $7. The jack nut tightener is pretty awesome, though. Your example of trying to tighten those things was spot on. Ironically, my '89 HM Strat has become that unfortunate shade of pink.
MK
I'm gonna get those cable ties for work... Better than taking all the cords and hoses!
I love gadgets ,Swiss army guitar stuff🎸🤘
I wonder what it's like to be in the swiss army, like are they just so efficient they barely need to do anything or what
I’ve got a takeaway/takeout box full of Allen wrenches - I feel your pain
I find enjoyment in screaming at my cables when they are in 50 knots..........
Tim Allen haha ahhh, I always think the same.
Gifts are cool. From what I've heard
Great, now there are more things I wanna spend money on - god damnit Trey!
I love you Trey, make a solo album please
How much would you charge For a guest solo?
MTZ 11 does not have a bottle opener?!?! Come on, Ibanez, get your shit together.
Daddario DP0002 Pro-Winder
Alright. I need those cable ties in my life....
I wonder if Trey likes to get Power Pegged
Damn, those Ibanez multitools are expensive in America. I paid about £10 for mine.
LOL'd hard at CABLE TIE. LMAO
“Unlike my dad” 💀
Thumbs up for the home improvement grunt
Output jack, man. Output.
Edit: oh, and for full disclosure, I used to say input jack all the time so I get it. Just before someone googles me to call me out for a 10 year old post somewhere, lol.
First gadget is literally a standard multitool - widely available literally everywhere for far less than $25 - also i would suggest organizing the tools you already have so when you DO need them you arent forced to rummage
Second gadget is literally a standard velcro strap - widely available literally everywhere for mere pennies
Third gadget is literally a standard socket - which wont provide any leverage when you actually need to tighten a nut
Fourth gadget is literally a standard multitool - again - go to any hardware store and you can find one for less than $5
Fifth gadget combines two previous gadgets - string pushpin pullers are unnecessary as anyone who changes acoustic strings will attest - also every guitarist worth their weight in cheap strings always has clippers and a winder in their case, ready to go, BUT the proper way to string a guitar is with NO excess and NO clipping. Honestly relying on these gadgets is equatable to relying on someone else to tie your shoe-laces every morning. People should learn to use their brains more often and more efficiently - dont over complicate guitar gadgetry. For anyone actually serious about learning guitar - heres what you need. Get a peg winder, hex driver for truss rod, multitool for random hardware and a small ratchet with the correct sockets for nuts on input jack and hardware. ONLY carry 2 picks, if you lose them both, its just not meant to be and if you cant manage to use your fingers instead then you should put the guitar down and find a new hobby.
Finally. Someone understands precut velcro cable management.
I used to buy a giant spool of these with a screw hole cut in them already so you can just shoot a self tapping/wood screw to get em mounted directly.
I think it was like 650 on the spool for like 150 bucks (I think they gave me a break because I'd go through a couple a year in my labs).

I'm pretty sure your pliers are 'Husky' brand.
I use cable ties to mute strings. Way cheaper than those expensive ones.
you can also use the mutes to tie your cables if you like to spend money
That is why your the Gear God , And I a Mere Mortal lol
That editing tho
I use that ibanez multitool more than 80% of my pedals
I still have a bag of allen wrenches that came with a maintenance kit for my very first electric guitar but the multitool is much more convenient
Number 1 acoustic guitar gadget: Capo 😃😃😃
very nice good video BIG funny
I found a peg winder that chucks in to my drill
- Kind of truss rod that's inverted for some reason
*PRS guitar owner noises*
Noice.
OUTput jack
That’s the output jack. The pickups are the input. Dang it, Trey! 🤦♂️
Don't get the Ernie Ball Power peg. You can get something like a Bosch IXO (or other electric screwdrivers) for 20-40 bucks and just buy the Planet Waves drill bit peg winder for 5 bucks. You can use the electric screwdriver for other stuff and not just have a dedicated tool for tuning. Chances are you even have an electric screwdriver at home anyway.
And i get promoting Hosa cable ties, but 50 cable ties in different lenghts cost 8 bucks, not 15. And Hosa gets theirs from China aswell...
Speaking on the drill, use it wisely. I had to change a string pre-show and without an amp... my dumbass went to tight and popped it. I got lucky and didn't need that particular guitar but seriously guys don't be like me! Pay attention to that monster
should've called it "trey goes Stevie T for 9 minutes" haha
Hey man, your switchgrip and hex driver links are the same lol that is all
SHIT thank you, fixed
No problem bro
ha i've already got the 6th product for my bass
Btw balisong flipping is a real thing there's competitions and everything
Carol would be proud
Just install locking tuners in everything
This video fucks!
Just use screw lock on the fucki' input jacks. or get an ibanet one. they somehow never fucking get loose haha
It's not an "input jack". There is nothing being input into the guitar. It is, in fact, an OUTPUT jack.
well you put in the cable?!
@@changeofmindofficial3158 Funny, but that would make every jack an input. Obviously, that's not how it works. Nice try, though!
Two years late, but in case no one figured it out: Allied Tools Switchgrip Mini Pliers
my main cables have velcro straps on them so....................................... yea. The brand is called kirlin btw
(Unlike my dad)
I laughed
Carol did ya see that
He buys guitar brand tools, but honestly if you are adulting right, you should have the unbranded versions of these to begin with.
Acoustic guitar??? Oh you mean Grampas Guitars!!
I have the Ibanez tool. The quality of the screwdrivers is the worst I've ever seen.
To all the people looking for a combination string winder clipper, do NOT buy the D’Addario one. It’s absolutely trash, winding strings loosens the screw holding the winder to the handle.
**UNLIKE MY DAD**
🤣🤣💀
