Hearing Quantum Leap and Next Generation hit me hard, cause those were two of my mom's favorite TV shows. She passed away earlier this year and today (12/10/2023) would've been her 60th birthday.
RIP TO YOUR MOM AND MY MOM PASSED ON FEBRUARY 1ST,2020 (NON-COVID RELATED) AND JULY 24TH,2023 WOULD HAVE BEEN HER 61ST BIRTHDAY. THE 80'S SHOWS SHE WATCHED THE MOST WHEN I WAS A KID WERE GOLDEN GIRLS,THREE'S COMPANY AND MC GUYVER PLUS TWO 60'S SHOWS IN BONANZA AND EMERGENCY!!
I'm sorry to hear that; 60 is very young these days. You should have had a lot of years with her. I hope in time the themes will bring only good memories.
- Sadly, I had to shorten the intros to 'Buck Rogers in the 25th Century' and 'Charles in Charge', otherwise the video would have been blocked in North America due to copyright infringement. - Two weeks after I uploaded the video it got blocked in North America due to copyright infringement because of the intro to 'Murder She Wrote'. So I had to cut this intro out. That's why the video now featured 39 and not 40 tv opening themes. - I ran a poll about whether I should include the Cosby show or not, in light of the Bill Cosby sexual assault cases. 73% (out of 1733 votes) said that I should include it, many people saying that the other actors who put their hearts into that work shouldn't be penalized (a lot of them cut ties with him).
Considering what so many other actors did, in that case none of these intros should be included. Cosby was a positive force for race relations and understanding, and his show one of the highest rated.
COSBY show was inspirational as an inner-city yoot growing up. Has to be included. But MOST EGREGIOUS was Leaving out Murder She wrote. You should have just dubbed yourself in HUIMMING the intro 🤣🤣
I couldn't stand the guy back then and still can't... no need to be politically correct... if it offends anyone to dam bad.. people need to stop being wimps.
Yes and No... I was also young and, so, not aware of lots of problems. Lots of wars around the world, but less information about them. And the iron curtain through Europe...
@@marcb1289 I can't speak for Europeans, but things were generally improving in North America from the 1970s up until 2010. After 2010, the culture wars hit, and things got worse. hell yeah they did, i remember seeing Stephen Cannell as the bad guy in the show Renegade, and going Nooo! he created all my favorite tv shows! he can’t be the villain! 😂😂
This was a time when the rest of the world wanted to be like America and people wanted to be American. By the way the Wonder Years is without question of the greatest television shows ever made and I am not exaggerating. It was way ahead of its time.

Thanks for adding the Cosby Show...no need to rehash the legal history, but the show meant so much to me growing up. Same with A Different World-my parents were HBCU grads, but it definitely reinforced my desire to go an Hbcu.
A Different World holds up well even today. Most underrated show from the 80s/90s. IMO, Whitley and Dwayne have the best arc of any couple in tv history - enemies to friends to romantic couple to married
@kse377 I used to literally DREAM about being a part of the Huxtable family when I was a kid. It was the first time I saw a home with 2 staircases to the second floor before sitcoms started using that same architecture. I wanted to explore their home so badly. 😂
Perfect Strangers-I got chills of emotion hearing this again. I could almost visualize being back in the living room of my family’s old house. Quite possibly the best theme song in an era of best theme songs. Many thanks for all you do.
Thank You for Part 2 Enjoying then all. When they knew how to score, compose great music for the whole show and write great scripts that had a good story line
I've already rewound the videio back four times just to hear the "LA Law" . I'm an 80s baby , will be 42 soon, and although tis show and so many orhers were on during my formative years ( i did grow up watching "Full House" and the Friday night ABC TGiF line up) . I absolutely love these compilation videos. Thank goodness for Lifetime and Nick at Nite for airing alot of these shows in syndication in the 90s and 2000s and upto the 2010s.
@danielleporter1829 I never watched "LA LAW" but boyyyyyyyyyy does that theme song take me back to those days. I too am 42 and I remember those shows on TV all the time.
That was great! The opening scene was a great period piece. Most of the sitcoms shown were hugely popular. Also interesting to see some notable actors in early roles (ie. Patrick Swayze, Kirstie Alley, Denzel Washington). As for Murder, She Wrote, it reminds me of Sunday nights at my grandparents' house. Cabot Cove had an awfully high homicide rate!
So glad to see part 2 😁 Missed some of my favorites in the first one but here they are. Some of them 😉 Hardcastle and McCormick, TJ Hooker, Quantum Leap, Family Ties etc And some I haven't thought about in years! 😄 Looking forward to pt 3 😉😉
Bill Conti's score for North and South was peerless. It was also fantastic to hear the themes of St. Elsewhere and Murder, LA Law, and Murder, She Wrote. It was fun to see if I still remember the actors who starred in these shows and my batting average was pretty impressive.
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for including Santa Barbara! Even though it was a soap opera, not a primetime show. I loved that show so much, and the theme song is epic!
Great memories, in this part i only have viewed 19 and those were the ones aired in the Netherlands. The Colbys i didn't know either. Some are really good and ashame we could not see them. I loved Quantum Leap, because i like science fiction and all the family series i loved too and of course Sledge Hammer and North and South because of the love scenes🫣😁
My 8-9 year old self had crushes on Winnie Cooper (The Wonder Years), Jamie Powell (Charles In Charge), Lisa Turtle (Saved By the Bell), Clair Huxtable (The Cosby Show), Denise Huxtable (The Cosby Show) Kathreen Summers-Stratton (Silver Spoons).
I'm more into 90's TV shows cause that era was my childhood but I adored some TV shows from the 80's: Dynasty, Knight Rider, Superboy, Quantum Leap, Magnum P.I., Buck Rogers, LA Law, The A-Team, Alien Nation, MacGyver, The Dukes of Hazzard
Take a drink for every intro that includes: * A helicopter * The Golden Gate Bridge or Hollywood Sign * A robot or intelligent computer * Spoken narration Hard mode: * Mike Post
The L.A. Law theme is definitely in my top ten list of 80s themes. Love it , The trunk closing and seeing the LA Law on the Ca license plate just sets the whole vibe for the show. I'm a little biased since I'm an LA girl , born and raised. Loved seeing that trunk close whenever I'd watch the reruns since the show was on in my formative years.
Hard castle and McCormick! The song is so great! Wow….north and south- when every single woman on earth fell in love with Oory….Patrick swayze! Good memories….thank you…I forgot about some of these….
Good Selection! A little TNG knowledge: That is V1 of the opening titles of the show. Over the course of the show's history it had three versions. V2, used for season 2, only has the music changed. V3 starts off in a nebula & flashes to a different ringed planet. I'm a trekkie. NO SHAME.
Petrocelli, Family Matters, Streets of San Francisco have also great opening theme songs, just to mention. 😊Amazing collection of both videos (part 1 and part 2 ) . I love the 80's.😍
Before dinner at 6, there was an hour block of TV that my dad watched. Anything that ran. I watched some 70's reruns and 80's too late to air in Mountain time zone. It fell there. Star Trek:TNG fell there. I watched with dad.
I’m just realizing that if it takes 2 videos to show the top tv opening themes, then I think that the 80’s was the decade with the best songs and tv shows. Those who grow up watching them were the lucky ones.
My favorite theme here was Perfect Strangers. Here's some others with special notes: The Buck Rogers theme was great, and the musical version was better than the movie's lyric version, which was sung Wimpily. You included Charles in Charge's 1st season theme. the 2nd and on was much better. Cosby Show was cool how they changed their song every year. I never watched Hardcastle & M, but the song was Rockin! LA Law had a great smooth tune. And Murder She Wrote was a fun piano theme. Star Trek TNG was a beautiful song, and glad you played the full version from season 1.
Some of my all-time favorite shows here and in part 1. I was thrilled to see Sledge Hammer! because I thought I was the only one who remembered that show, but sad at the lack of Stingray.
Lesser known tv shows then such as Crazy Like A Fox,Strike Force,Last Precinct and Trapper John,MD(most of its seasons were in the 80s)also have memorable opening themes.
I'm glad that 80s Love Boat was included because that's seriously one of the first shows I remember watching on television as a child. And I can still sing the theme song. Lol. 🤦♂️😂
I went into the MED field because of ST=Elsewhere. I related to all aspects of the show. It was state of the art with medical issues. It was funny, dark, intellectual, and the writers were off the wall. They would interject quirky scenarios that were incredible, if you were able to notice them. It broke my heart when the Fat lady sang and the plug was pulled on the surgical cat. The final scene, in the last show, was the best in my time. It made me wonder what's real and what's perceived, and if there is a difference in what road we travel.
It’s crazy how many TV shows crossed over with St Elsewhere. It’s hard to believe that it’s in the same universe as MASH, Cheers, Frasier, Oz, The Wire and so many other shows.
Mmmh... No matter how many clips you include, there's always someone who complains that something was missing 🙄😤... Thank you for your work and the nice memories! 😊 I enjoyed it a lot!! 👌👍👍
Quantum leap scared the crap outta me. So did SOAP, Mr. Belvedere, Dynasty, and Silver spoons I loved St. Elsewhere theme and to see Denzel Washington that young. Awesome
I live in the Netherlands and only know about 15 of these TV shows. Dutch television had to choose what to buy, and these shows were clearly not as popular as the ones presented in Part 1. Bear in mind we had only three channels until 1988, and we didn't have TV during the day until 1993. Also, we had of course, our Dutch shows and European shows (German krimis!). But I loved the Cosby show and Family Ties.

That is V1 of the opening titles of the show. Over the course of the show's history it had three versions. V2, used for season 2, only has the music changed. V3 starts off in a nebula & flashes to a different ringed planet.
I'm a trekkie. NO SHAME.
4 versions - season 5 had the Superman-style title.
4 versions - season 5 had the Superman-style title
Same. No need for shame in the face of such awesomeness.
No Wiseguy??? loved that show. Ken Wahl was the Man.
Brings back a lot of good memories
Loved loved loved this! Missed seeing these shows, missed some too but loved it
Petrocelli, Family Matters, Streets of San Francisco have also great opening theme songs, just to mention. 😊Amazing collection of both videos (part 1 and part 2 ) . I love the 80's.😍
Thanks for the original version of Family Ties.
Hope you had a great Day. 💕
Love your Videos. ❣️
Greetings from Germany. 💞

A few of these were shows that began in the 70s. I never knew Dana Carvey was in Blue Thunder
Me either! 😮
They just don't make good tv shows anymore, like these. I miss the 80's.
We had way better TV shows in any era before the early 2020s
Me too
Before dinner at 6, there was an hour block of TV that my dad watched. Anything that ran. I watched some 70's reruns and 80's too late to air in Mountain time zone. It fell there. Star Trek:TNG fell there. I watched with dad.
Wow… Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks
I’m just realizing that if it takes 2 videos to show the top tv opening themes, then I think that the 80’s was the decade with the best songs and tv shows. Those who grow up watching them were the lucky ones.
Both list are a great collection and I only missed 1 show: Mission Impossible. Iconic intro
Great Part 1 & 2. *Midnight Caller is another classic 80s TV intro*
Tons of memories flying by here . Great collection of intros .Thanks for the fun.
Drive! Hardcastle & McCormick had an absolutely killer theme song!
My favorite theme here was Perfect Strangers.
Here's some others with special notes:
The Buck Rogers theme was great, and the musical version was better than the movie's lyric version, which was sung Wimpily.
Loved all these shows
There were a number of good shows on this list.
Oh MY God! PERFECT STRANGERS! 😭
Need to include Wiseguy, Voyagers! and Cover Up.
Some of these never showed here in Australia and lookin back at Automan def a TRON influence unless automan was Disney?
Some of my all-time favorite shows here and in part 1. I was thrilled to see Sledge Hammer! because I thought I was the only one who remembered that show, but sad at the lack of Stingray.
I remember the last episode where he had to disarm a nuclear bomb.
"Trust me. I know what I'm doing."
BOOM 💥
"HAAAAMMERRRRR!!!"
Always looked fo0rward to Sledge Hammer.
Did you also know that the theme song for _Perfect Strangers_ was also used as the intro to _The Simpsons_ episode "Treehouse Of Horror XV" (2004)?
80s cartoon theme songs next?
I lived for chips !! I hope that I can meet Eric Estrada some day. Love him !!
Its ALL ABOUT THAT CHIPS THEME. The DISCO VERSION.
It's ALL ABOUT STEPHANIE BEACHAM AND EMMA SAMMS.
I remember Star Trek TNG with Encounter at Farpoint when I was 8 years old. Now 45 and still love Star Trek today 🖖
Mmmh... No matter how many clips you include, there's always someone who complains that something was missing 🙄😤...
Thank you for your work and the nice memories! 😊
I enjoyed it a lot!! 👌👍👍
Quantum leap scared the crap outta me. So did SOAP, Mr. Belvedere, Dynasty, and Silver spoons
I loved St. Elsewhere theme and to see Denzel Washington that young. Awesome
Denzel Washington has seriously never been in a bad movie. Very rare track record
80's Nostalgia Vibe
I live in the Netherlands and only know about 15 of these TV shows. Dutch television had to choose what to buy, and these shows were clearly not as popular as the ones presented in Part 1. Bear in mind we had only three channels until 1988, and we didn't have TV during the day until 1993. Also, we had of course, our Dutch shows and European shows (German krimis!). But I loved the Cosby show and Family Ties.
