Christmas 87 I was 8 and will never forget it. Mostly because I fell out of the family van when the door opened unexpectedly when going down the road on Christmas Eve and got banged up to heck.
Now that's a Christmas Story worth telling every year. Part of the decorations would be falling out of the van theme. Santa's sleigh, Rudolph a van with the door opening and you falling out. Miles of material. Glad you're OK but this is hilarious. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent work. You are totally justified in putting Planes, Trains, and Automobiles in here. It's how to start the season for sure. Also, Muppet Family Christmas really is glorious. I love Jim Henson admiring all of his creations at the end.
The 80's was something truly special for growing up!! Sadly we have only are memories and great content from others who truly appreciate the 80's like you and this channel. The 90s tried but music TV movies and so much more ended in the early 90s and that's because the 80's was so good!! It spilled into the early 90s.
@@ChristmasAficionadooh no. Lol you got to get him into Alf. I'm sure he'll make a comeback. I remember having the pen doll. His arms wrapped around your pen/pencil. That memory goes back 30+ years.
I was 6 and I remember mostly these shows .. the Christmas Parade on CBS ( bc it's a family tradition for my family to watch the Thanksgiving and Christmas Parade) plus it was the Christmas we got a Nintendo...I got a bike with pouch in the front.. cabbage patch kid and a Barbie dream house 😂😂
Christmas 1987, I remember that one so well. I was ten years old, and it was the last time that my parents played Santa for me and my older siblings. Well, for a few years for me, anyway, until my little brother was born a few years later and they'd play Santa for the both of us. Anyway, I remember looking at Christmas lights with my aunt, older brother and sister, a friend of my aunt's and her friend's kids a few days before Christmas. This was my last year of believing in Santa. I remember that "Santa" brought me everything I asked for that year. A talking ALF doll, toys from the Real Ghostbusters, a football, a Popples football and soccer ball, and a chemistry set. I also remember the Christmas Eve party one of my other aunts threw in the neighborhood and we joined with some family and friends. And Christmas dinner at Grandma's the next day. It truly was a nice Christmas and one to remember.
I was 7 years old back in 87 i remember my mom use to watch Franks place and Hooperman i always liked it his dog. That year for Christmas i got more Legos and Barbie Dolls every year at our church use to give out big bags of Apple and Oranges Nuts and candy 😊
Another banger episode! ‘87 was definitely a great Christmas. I got the Captain Power ship and my brother got the bad guy ship. Lots of fun having dogfights and seeing the little guy pop out of the canopy when one of the ships took too many hits! We hung onto those for years. That ALF episode was just so damn heavy… The Cheers episode with the old couple blows me away because those two would go on to be in Ernest Saves Christmas together. So wild! The other episode lives in my head forever. They start off making fun of “It’s A Wonderful Life,” and then end up crying their eyes out at the end. Gets me every time. 😢
Thanks. We had Captain Power as well. I wish I still had it. I would love to find one and the VHS tape. The ALF episode is so depressing. I hadn't seen it in years and forgot how depressing it was. I had more of the Cheers footage with It's a Wonderful Life but UA-cam copyright Gods said NO! lol
I wasn't born until the following year, but my brother and I grew up watching a Muppet Family Christmas each year from the time we were young (along with Christmas Eve on Sesame Street from 1978). And up until last year (when Journey to Bethlehem was released) I would have said Christmas Comes To Willow Creek was my fav Christmas movie (and I love many of them) and it has always felt like so few people have even heard of it. So I was glad to see it shown here.
@@ChristmasAficionado I was actually able to buy a couple copies of it on dvd a few years ago. And it looks like it might be available to watch here on youtube as well. So I don't think this one is lost media, but I do agree that so many are. I actually created a wiki for Canadian Children's tv shows to try and save info and photos so more of them don't become lost media.
Christmas of ‘87 I was a freshman in college. During the Christmas break, I met the man that would become my husband at, of all places, the mall. We’ll celebrate 35 years of marriage in January!!
My first Christmas!!! I'm writing all these down and prepping for this year! Lol. And I have to brag that this year we got Garfield and Will Vintons Christmas
Needed a shout out for A Very Special Christmas, the album with all the popular singers and bands at the time with proceeds benefitting the Special Olympics.
🎄Christmas🎄is the best time of year. One more memory of my childhood Christmases was actually in books or catalogs. The JC Penny's Christmas Catalog and the Sears Wish Book. Those two catalogs would bring so much joy to a kid. Paging through every single page, front to back, picking the best toys you hope to get for Christmas. I can remember Mom taking me to Southridge Mall and I had only two destinations, JC Penny's and Sears, well maybe Kay"🅱️"Toys too. LOL. The 80's still had the catalogs, but I was a teenager(13) by 1980. I did still like to see the Video game sections. I used to love to shop for my Mom and Dad, and especially my Grandparents. Those were some really wonderful times. In 1982 my Grandpa, who helped raise me, had a massive heart attack and passed away on November 13th, 1982. That was a rollercoaster year for me. The Brewers had won their Division, then they won the American League title and were headed to the World Series! I was beyond excited! Then they lost to the St.Louis Cardinals 4 games to 3. And a few weeks later my Grandpa passed away. That was a tough year and probably why I see the 70's Christmas as a "better" time for me. But Christmas was special for us. As a little kid it's more "eventful", more exciting, and more special. Then in the mid 90's my Mom passed away on December 5th. And a 2½ years later on the 4th of July my Dad lost his battle with Cancer. The Holidays for me after 1982 started to slowly lose a little joy. Again it's why I see the 70's as being so much more special and wonderful for me. It was the last decade where I had my entire family together. That said, I really do love these videos, no matter what the year it is. There are some good memories from most every year, and these videos bring those memories back. Thank you.
Harry's name was Ioke, not Loki. That was so poignant. As they were running to the ship, the Viet King attached. His childhood friend died, and,he never found his parents on the ship. He wanted to join the police force, because a policeman helped him, when he first arrived.
The year I met my wife. We had been together 3 months that Christmas...sigh...wish I could go back. She passed away right after Christmas 2018...we got 31 years. Damn. We thought everything was hi tech but looking back now it seems so low tech.

These must take hours and hours of work.. Much respect
The longest phase is the research and gathering video content. Once that is done It takes about 2 weeks to edit them together. Thank you for watching!
Christmas 1987 was one of my favs of all time
Any specific reason?
Excellent work. You are totally justified in putting Planes, Trains, and Automobiles in here. It's how to start the season for sure. Also, Muppet Family Christmas really is glorious. I love Jim Henson admiring all of his creations at the end.
as I say its the Avengers of the Muppet Universe!
We always cry at the end of Planes, Trains and Automobiles. John Hughes and John Candy or both legends
It’s a great moment

I was 10 and definitely had Captain Power and Gi Joe on my list.
I went down a UA-cam rabbit hole and watched all the videos from Captain Power. It was a good day.
These videos are so well researched! Thanks for creating these, brought back lots of fond memories ❤
Thanks. The research takes the longest time.
Muppet Family Christmas! A classic I watch every Christmas apart from some others.
The best!
Probably one of my favorite Christmases. My grandmother bought be the four Alf read along books that came with the cassettes. I still have all four.
I had forgotten how big ALF was back then. Its funny how short lived it was. My kid has no idea who he is and probably never will.
@@ChristmasAficionadooh no. Lol you got to get him into Alf. I'm sure he'll make a comeback. I remember having the pen doll. His arms wrapped around your pen/pencil. That memory goes back 30+ years.

I can't believe I forgot about some of these, especially My Two Dads. Great video!

I’m watching My 2 Dads right now as I read your comment. On Get Comedy.

The LJN figs? Which ones?
@ChristmasAficionado yep. I got Hogan, Hillbilly Jim, Piper and Greg Valentine.

1987, the year I graduated high school, my first year as an “adult” 💙
I sometimes question if I am an "adult" LOL
Same!!
Muppet Family Christmas is still my favorite movie
it's fantastic
Please make sure to include the Tales From The Darkside episode "Seasons Of Belief" in your 1986 episode

Best year of my life
The Swedish Chef trying to cook Big Bird was classic
It's my favorite part
As a kid I watched so much but don't remember most of these but we only had 1 TV for most of the 80's but the 80s were like nothing else.
It's been fun to discover these old TV shows.

Are you referring to 21 Jumpstreet? I had never seen the show and took notes on that episode.
Your research on this channel is fantastic! Do you have a Halloween channel? That would be awesome 👍
I have thought about it, but this channel takes up so much of my time. Maybe one day.
