Cold steel is a standup company. I use my Kobun in the trades, on my third, and cold steel replaced even when I admitted the knife was not to blame, love them.
I just got one "today" as a matter of fact! The serrated edged model. A pretty well made and very concealable martial blade! I will be adding it into my rotation. GREAT VIDEO here too as always...
Mine is a VG-1 the handle is loose.I believe mine is a Recon Tanto got it for $109 CDN at my local store on sale. I threw it a lot because it's a nice thrower, no spin, and also spin. I have a black coating on it in which I want to take off and bring the blade to a high polish but the handle I want to replace with G-10
Hi thanks for the video. Can i know if this is a good kitchen knife? I love cooking , slicing and chopping ingredients, not so much of bush craft. Thanks.
It could stand in as one in a pinch, but wasn't designed to be a good kitchen knife - more a lightweight combat knife actually. Thanks for watching! 👍🗡️
I purchased the CS Oyabun. I didn't like it. The handle is too small, and I couldn't access the liner lock. I returned it and purchased the CS Kobun based on your video review. The Kobun is absolutely 💯 amazing.
A quickie today, I believe you covered the requisite points. Lots of questions in the comments on this one ...odd, for something been out so long. Closest I have to this is a Master Tanto I picked up new in 1990. Cold Steel sheaths, they are either excellent or WTF?. The sheath I have is half one & half the other.
Can we assume that the tang of the blade goes all the way to the very butt of the handle? That handle grip material looks "sprayed on" thin. Is the knife seaworthy; good enough for underwater work? Hardware on the sheaf rustproof?
Would be suitable for work in or around water if the blade profile suits. AUS8 is very rust resistant as far as I know. The Kraton is a "skin," maybe an eighth inch thick. It will wear over a long period of hard use, but is quite tacky in the hand. 👍🗡️👍
Beautiful knife. I just dont like the clip. Its good for boot carry but not for belt since it slides up when deploying the blade. If i wear it on the hip I use a tech lock.
I've had the CS Kobun for over 20 years. Great knife and you covered all its basic points in this review.
Thanks! 👍🗡️😁

Always love the variety you get from cold steel. This is a good looking tanto. Great video 👍
Thanks! 😁👍🗡️
Mine is coming home in 3 days, feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.
Very fast in hand and sharp out the box to ,⚔️💯⚔️ 🤺
Cold steel really makes a nice tanto
The "Originals!' 👍🗡️

I just received 2 KobunTanto knives. I love them. I have many other Cold Steal knifes.

I still feel that their best "tanto" is the Outdoorsman. Same as original chisel point, but more useful... 🗡️😁👍
It’s a good knife, I don’t have any complaints about it….
Huge fan… I’ve used it

Tang is full someguy cut the grip off. Ive been carrying this and the spikes for self defence for years never had a problem.
Dave, you forgot to mention how the action is, smooth? 😉
Depends on the operator... 🤣🗡️👍
