    On average one of these machines with a 410 bushel grain tank processing 5000 bushes per hour needs to unload the grain tank about every 5 minutes unless the calculator function on my computer is working incorrectly. Given that a grain truck weigh a total of 80,000 lbs legally I believe and corn weighs 56 lbs a bushel, more or less about 1100 bushels of corn would mean it would almost take 5 trucks to haul away that much corn. That is amazing how fast they are able to handle that much material and how much coordination it takes to keep all that grain being handled to keep the machines on the move.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  4 роки тому +1

      They fill up in a little less than 5 minutes. They unload 12 times an hours. It’s a fast pace.

    Many years ago we had a wagon that hooked to the pto, giving the wagon power to the wheels. My question is do the tracks on the grain carts have hydraulic motors, or just being dragged?

    Interesting to see these big farms in western KY. Here in NW Iowa anything over 2000 acres is considered pretty big. Majority of farms under 1500 acres. Most operations around here are using machinery thats 10-20 years old.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  4 роки тому +2

      The key thing here is the crop rotation. It needs big machines to move fast. Corn is followed by wheat and after wheat is harvested soybeans are double cropped in. So if you have 2,000 acres of ground you can crop 3,000 acres of grain in a year.

  • @2xKTfc

    It seems like a little bit of sheet metal would go a long way in preventing that plant buildup on the back of the header, and might keep more of it away from the hydraulic quick connect, too. There has to be a better way to keep them out of the dust and still quickly accessible.

      16 row high speed 2140 and 2150s. They used to to run 24 rows but with strip tillage now the high speed 16 rows get more acres planted in a day and following with a 16 row corn head contains compaction.

      This farm had 12 row corn heads on 9120s when they had 24 rows. I do film a farm running two Kinze 24 rows and two Claas 16 rows. With GPS it works out perfect. Two 24 rows put out 48 rows and three 16 row passes rake off 48 rows.

      The leaves and stalks stay fairly green because they sprayed with fungicide in July to strengthen them. The corn is at 18%. Drying is not an issue as it’s in the high 80s and it’s not hard to draw the moisture down.
