    I love the European tractor videos. No talking. Just tractors. And music.

      It’s interesting you say that. I started my channel in 2010 and only showed the equipment as it was working for 6 years. I gained about 10,000 subscribers. I assumed everyone knew this was an awesome new machine or a rare classic. But I would get questions asking what is it doing, what is it’s horse power, what is it’s capacity etc... Once I started narrating every video explaining what was happening in each video my channel grew 65,000 subscribers in one year. The number one comment I receive is thank you for leaving the machine sound in the video that is all the music I need. There are great European tractor channels. I will leave the music to the European channels. I will keep telling about the machine and let people see and hear them as the work. I think both formats work for both types of tractor channels. I appreciate the input.

    Growing up in north central North Dakota in the 80's and 90's, I just didn't see corn in our area (until after 2000 when I graduated) I used to love watching sunflowers get cut with an 8 row rowcrop head by my neighbor. But watching how these corn headers work is crazy interesting. Each row pulls the stalk down and virtually 'pops' the corn head off. It amazes me how these 8' plants get manhandled at such a massive rate leaving virtually nothing behind while reducing waste going through the combine.

    Thank you for letting us see these awesome JD tracked vehicles at work. Your host-famer seemed very cordial and generous. A special thanks to him and his crew. Could be interesting to see the difference of maintenance and full repairs between the Tracked Vehicle versus Wheeled on the big 790 Combiners as well as the 94 series tractors. What would really be interesting is how tracks are taken off and-repaired. In the military this procedure is referred to as 'Braking-track'. Would assume repairs and-or maintenance on this scale for JD's is probably done in the winter..? Could be neat to see what's involved though would guess could get time consuming to film. Any way, thanks yet again for another great vid. :-)

      Let me give you a quick rundown. Long ago, in the age of owner/operator family farms; new higher capacity equipment was sold under the auspices of shortening the farmer's work day and improving quality of life. There were then custom operators who bought the biggest machines that small farmers could't afford who could harvest grain for many farmers faster and more efficiently. Then there were those who realized if they could work just as hard and use the newest, largest capacity machines they could outbid what other farmers paid for leased land. Farmers become their own worst enemy. Production agriculture in the US is a monopolized hot mess.

    • @xxepicxxaxaaxe8730
      @xxepicxxaxaaxe8730 5 років тому +1

      Goggin Fuher thanks for explaining. It’s just we have nothing like that over here in Ireland rarely is there a Farm with over 150 acres where I’m at but that’s all we need, it’s also really expensive like 20,000 pounds per acre

    • @alwesker3060
      @alwesker3060 5 років тому +2

      That's not how it works Goggin, but as long as you're on the topic of leased land, it's the owner operator that offers way more than he can possibly produce and then renigs on the lease with a sob story of how he couldn't produce what he thought he could.

    Bigger, higher capacity combines, bigger grain carts, faster tractors to haul, .... same sized semi- trucks to haul away. The six trailers waiting is a testament to the volume of grain being processed through those combines. There may be more trailers out of the field when this was shot.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  5 років тому +3

      This farm has a good sized fleet of trucks. They had combines harvesting soybeans the same day as these combines were shelling corn. Trucks have not grown in size like the combines and carts because of weight restrictions on roads.

    It's really tough on the rural schools, churches and businesses when you have farmers with this size equipment farming 10,000 acres. They probably have some hired help but we'd be way better off with a dozen families farming those acres instead of one guy, but those days are long gone.

    Very nice and up-to-date equipment makes for efficient farming if the farmers ROI permits. • @bigtractorpower

      No corn in soybeans here. Wheat is planted right after the corn and the when the wheat is harvested in June a second crop of soybeans is no tilled right behind the combine. Best way to maximize farming to put two crops out on the same ground in one year.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  5 років тому

      20 inch or narrow row corn has gained popularity. There is an expense to consider because the planter and the corn head and other associated equipment cost more because there are more row units and not all Farms have decided they want to go that way because of the expense but there is definitely a benefit to narrow row corn because of the details that Charlie shared and that’s why he likes it.

      As Charlie said in the video he finds it yields better in a dry year. The narrow row corn stands better and is less likely to blow over. Because it’s tight you can run your corn head against the row and not loose ears opening up sections.

    Wow, well over $1M worth of equipment,. Must harvest a lot of corn to pay for that. Great video. Thanks!

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  5 років тому +1

      You know I am not sure. Right now the biggest is a 45ft 18 row 30 inch. I have a friend whose grandfather bought an IH 503 combine and a 6 row corn head new in 1968. It was the biggest combine in the county. Everyone said back then who needs a 100 bu. Combine with a 6 row head. It was pretty on a manageable for many farms 50 years ago. Those farmers in 68’ could not image a 400 bu combine with a 40ft corn head like this.

    Another great video. I did notice that Deere came out with a quad trac tractor a few years back with a different track style. Now it looks like they copied the Case IH design track. Still pretty nice machine tho

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  5 років тому

      The John Deere 9RX was new for 2016. Deere has used the same track on the 9RX for the past three model years. Some farmers prior to 2016 would buy after market tracks from ATI or Saucy and retro fit them on a Deere 4wd. The ATI track design is what is shown on the S690 in this video.
