For many years, the Bryant Museum at The University of Alabama sought the actual television footage of this game. All they had was the team's game film, what was used on the The Bear Bryant Show. That is where the narrated film of the second half comes from. If there is a complete copy of the Television broadcast, I hope it can be given to them. This was a truly historic game, the most important ever played in the series. The Alabama sports media (whch trends toward an Auburn bias) tends to start historic discussions about the Alabama-Auburn game with the following year's game because of it's freak ending. But they overlook the most significant game ever played between the two teams. This is Alabama's greatest win in the series and Auburn's most crushing defeat. Alabama's joy was somewhat dampened by the drubbing the team got at the hands of Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. But it completed Alabama's and Coach Paul W. "Bear" Bryant's restoration to greatness from the depths of mediocrity to which they had fallen.
My first Bama Aub game...been to 53 straight. This was a huge game--only time in modern times for both teams to be unbeaten/untied and top four ranking. Tide ran away with it in second half.
THANK YOU so much! I’ve been requesting this video for YEARS. I like the original telecasts much more than the narratives. I wish we could have had the 2nd half of telecast, but I’ll take this!
Anyone else notice that there’s one maybe two commercials, then right back to the game! Now days, commercials are 2 minutes and 50 seconds long and it feels like 12 per game.
I watched this game as a 13 year old on a small black and white TV. At the same time, I was playing my vibrating football game that pitted the blue and yellow team against the red and white team. Red and white won.
This game my parents made a bet. If allbarn won, my mother would raise my older brother up as an allbarn fan. If Alabama won, my brother would be raised as an Alabama fan….
@@rob_taylor7 thanks for the info! I remember being in the 2nd grade and watching him on tv. My grandad was the biggest Bear Bryant fan I've ever known, so we all watched Bama football back then. Johnny Musso was the reason i wanted to play Pop Warner football
Thank you for posting an ABC game from 1971. I would love to see the ABC telecast of the Ed Marinaro Cornell game from November 1971 when they played Dartmouth if you have it. Thank you.
shug jordan was involved in the d-day invasion and fought at the battle of the bulge. i don't even want to know some of the stuff he saw. bear respected the hell out of him.
Never too old or late to be proud of a Tide win, especially over aubarn! ROLL TIDE ROLL!🏈🐘🏆💪🙌👏👏‼️
Thank you for this video! It’s like discovering a lost treasure.
It's great to see the original telecast! It would be nice to see the second half, but at least the game film was available. ROLL TIDE!!!
fantastic quality. very enjoyable and I just immersed myself into the memories. I was 11 years old then.

Brings back great memories. I was 13 sold cokes in upper deck at this game.

He played in the CFL a few years, and might have started for the Bears but think they had Walter Payton.
Nice and clear, great job!
