Have been a Bama fan since I was a kid growing up in Birmingham. I've loved the Saban Era of course, and the 2015 team's win over Clemson is my favorite of his National Championships. But my all time favorite Bama National Championship game is this upset over those arrogant 1990s Miami jerks and the least memorable Heisman Trophy QB ever. This championship game is PURE BLISS!! I've watched a lot of football in my 61 years, but George Teague running down that Miami receiver and taking the ball away from him. Ive never seen anything like that, either before that game, or since then. The way Teague turned on the after burners and caught up to that guy, and then stole the ball from him ? That was absolutely incredible.
Teague said that he blew coverage on the play and he was afraid what an angry Coach Stallings would do so he turned on the afterburners and ran Thomas down.
Teague later admitted he was out of position on that play and he knew if he didn't do something he was going to be in big trouble later, so he said he ran the fastest he's ever ran to make up for it 😂
I know this game doesn't get credited for this - but this was the first game of the Bowl Coalition, which led to the BCS and now the Playoff. Interestingly, Alabama played in the first Playoff game - the 1992 SEC Championship Game. They played in the first Bowl Coalition 1vs2 game - this Sugar Bowl. And, Alabama played in the first college football playoff game vs Ohio State in 2014.
And they lost to OHIO STATE in the first ever college football playoff game in 2014. OSU would go on to beat Oregon 42-20 to win the first playoff championship in history. Sorry had to throw that in there I’m a buckeye fan 😂 Alabama got their revenge in 2020 during the Covid year though.
One of Alabama greatest championship. Thanks Coach Gene Stallings for great memories and terrific coaching. Your a class act. We thank your family for sharing you with us Alabama fans.
I laughed my ASS off at the dude running down "I'm the typical EVERYTHING in MY life, and opinion..", and literally just..YANKIN that ball out, with a, "Not 2 nite, you ain't!!" It's hilarious!!!
This is the game that made me a true Bama fan. My father-in-law played for Bear Bryant and with Gene Stallings at Texas A&M (Junction Boy). We lived in Alabama at the time and my husband loved Bama. He was sick during this game and took medicine which practically knocked him out. I kept saying: aren’t you going to watch the game? He tried but he said Miami was probably going to win anyway and was soon out. Toward the end I was jumping up and down and trying to wake him up saying: we’re going to win, we’re going to win!! 😂 Been die hard Bama since!
Well, a lot of people disrespected Alabama. For instance, Lee Corso said we were "no better than an average high school team." There was a LOT of trash talking about us that got laid to rest that night. This was one of the best games I have ever attended.
I was in high school when this game happened. It was well hyped. I believe Gino Toretta won the Heisman and the Hurricanes were full of themselves. I was so happy to see the Crimson Tide stampede on that ass! R.I.P. Keith Jackson. Greatest college football announcer ever.
I moved from Mississippi to Alabama. I was a Miss St. fan. My sister's in law's were big Alabama fans. They showed this game at their home. I've been a Bama fan since. Roll Tide.
At 15 years old, I watched this with my dad who is now dead but was an Auburn fan pulling for Bama because we were from Alabama. My dad loved Stallings. My uncle, also an Auburn fan came up to Tennessee from Alabama to watch this game pulling for Bama. My cousin, a Bama fan from Bama showed up too just before kickoff, we all had l the greatest night ever. My best friend was there and he was a Tennessee fan, we all pulled for Bama and Bama destroyed them.
The thing that ticks me off is two 30 for 30 documentaries on Miami and no mention of this game. They can mention losing to Penn State in '86 and Ohio State in '03 but not that undefeated season in '92 leading up to this game. Still must hurt after all these years
There's a rule in college football that when the player with the ball loses progress the play is called dead. The qb jumped at the 1 yard line meaning he could not pull himself backwards into the endzone, it was the Alabama defender who did that. It was the right call. But everyone hates Bama? Please. That "running into the kicker" call was complete B.S. That was clearly roughing the kicker. Don't whine when the bias is in your favor
I noticed this too, I think they didn't go into much detail because they know Miami was a band of straight up thugs that year, and talked a whole bunch of smack before coming into this game and losing.
@bb What I've noticed on these posts, again and again, are UofM supporters saying, when there team looses a bowl game is "this Hurricane team wasn't THAT good" or " this Hurricane team was mediocre" talk about the fable of The Sour Canes
There are some amazing stories in the comments for this game. I encourage anyone that's here for the first time to read some of them. The stories are just as entertaining and meaningful as the game. Just shows that the tradition of Alabama football runs so deep in our community. It's the time we spend with our dads, mothers, brothers, sisters, uncles, cousins and friends at these games that makes these moments so special. That and as we all know here, Alabama has always been and will always be one of the most exciting football programs to be a part of. Thank you all for sharing. RTR
I remember watching this game with dad & his friends! The whole house shook when Teague stripped the ball from Thomas.. after that play it took all the wind out of that hurricane! It was such a great time!! 🤗🤪🤪🤪🤗
I was there in the late 70's when Bama played PSU two years in a row and had the "Goal line stand" and won them both but was too young to appreciate how truly great it was. I wasn't there for this game but I was old enough to appreciate how well Bama played and was coached, Miama was clearly out coached and out played. Miami made fun of Bama and thought they had it won before they even played the game but game dominated and Gino said " the second half was just a blur to him"! One of the best Bama victories ever in my book. RTR
That pick 6 by Teague was smooth! The high step and dropping the ball backwards. Simply awesome! The call by the great Keith Jackson makes it even more spectacular.
This is AWESOME! I was so drunk that night I don't remember much of the game, even though I watch it live. Now I sit here in California some 24 years later, watching it on youtube, and the station that broadcast it, is the same one that I watched it on, WDHN- is from my home town, Dothan-Alabama..... RTR!!!
I remember this game and everyone I knew were saying Miami was going to destroy Alabama. I told them "Y'all haven't been watching Bama's defense and that Bama was going to beat Miami". They thought I was crazy. Watched the game with a bunch of 'em and they were shocked and I all could say was "I told you". lol
will never forget this one. This was our first year with season tickets and we attended the first SEC champ game and then here in the Sugar bowl. We were around the - 20-25 yd line where Teague took the ball away from the Miami WR.Probably still the toughest and most confident defenses to ever play the game. They toyed with Geno Torreta the whole night. RTR!!
This was my first championship as a Bama fan. I started watching in 1990 when I moved to Troy Alabama after I got out of the Army. It has worked out for me and Bama. Roll Tide! 🐘 I have turned my great niece and nephews into Bama fans. They live in Indy where I am from.
I was 11 days from 11 years old when me and my dad watched this game. It was the 2nd football game that I really watched and paid attention to the first being the SEC championship game against Florida. This is the game that made me an Alabama fan. I will never forget it.
I remember watching this at my grandma's house in Pratt Kansas. Me and my cousin. We arent fans of either team but I loved this Bama team. David Palmer is one of my favorite players of all time. He could do a little of everything. Antonio Langham and George Teague were beast and Derrick Lassic would eventually go to my cowboys lol. Good memories my grandma watched games with us cause she loved Keith Jackson's voice.
The best play in this game officially never happened. George Teague chasing down Lamar Thomas and stealing the football. Was negated for an offsides against Alabama, but it still devastated Miami.
No doubt about it to me. I do believe Lamar had been talking smack about how no player for Alabama could catch him. Teague hawked him down, with ease it seemed, and how fluidly he took the ball. WOW! STILL GET CHILLS! Will always be my favorite play that never was!!!! ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!
Of all of the great Crimson Tide Football victories that I have seen in my many years this was long my favorite. I now rank it right next to the recent NCG thrashing of Notre Dame. One of the greatest underdog victories in the history of the sport. Thanks so much for the upload. Roll Tide Roll
I was a sophomore in HighSchool that year and it was the best year of mylife. I played football and my highschool was undefeated that season going into the Super Bowl for the second strait year. We got upset that year by a team that lost there first two games of the season and one of them was to us 36-6. They got back at us and beat us 11-6 in the Super Bowl. I was crushed. And then my Miami Hurricanes get crushed by this incredible Alabama defence. It was a double wammy for me. Kinda funny that Miami was going for there 2nd strait also like us and got upset, but we were very arrogant and cocky just like Miami and that's what happens. That Bama Defence is the greatest defence still to this day that I've ever seen.
One of the best games I ever watched! I remember it like yesterday watching it with my dad in 1992! RTR!!! Defense was on fire!!! Me and dad hugged each other after the win!!!
This was one of the most satisfying ass-kickings in college football history. A talented yet humble Alabama team vs. a Miami team that was full of itself, led by the game's goat, Miami WR Lamar Thomas #36. The guy insulted Alabama's defense all week before the game, and then the game happened. He's not bragging anymore at 1:48:10.
@@Mikevdog Yeah, I remember him being on Bourbon Street the week before the game insulting Alabama players while they just played it cool, and waited for the game to start.
I remember watching this game as a kid...i was rooting for Miami..but bama came out smoking...once i seen lamar thomas get stripped of the ball ..i knew it wasnt miami s night.. .
The Seven Blocks Of Granite want a word with you. Also, Duke's 1938 team went an entire season without allowing a single point. But if we're talking in the last 40 years, this team is right up there.
Other than the previous year's team, the U was largely overrated. They were the beneficiary of bad FG kickers on FSU, weak schedules and playing in the Orange Bowl, their backyard, for championships. FL gave Bama a better game that year.
i LOVED listening to keith jackson growing up and also at the time of this game i was 3 years old but ive watched it SO MANY TIMES!!!!!!! ROLL TIDE!!!!!!! watching this game NEVER gets old
I was in Miami working the Hurricane Relief. All the talk prior to the game was how Miami would crush Ala. There was one big sportscaster (can't remember his name) who was sure Ala could not withstand the "physical" Miami Team. Let, me tell you, Ala took Miami apart! The Ala center, and offensive line just blew away the Miami D! I'm an Auburn fan, but I loved this Bama victory!
Thanks for a great upload! I'm a Texas A&M fan, but I always appreciate the classics! One quality of older commentators that I miss sorely today, is how they address all aspects of a play, and give credit to all those involved, especially the offensive line on big run plays.
forgot how big the late 80's/early 90's shoulder pads were...#45 Lynch had huge ones but even the "deuce" David Palmer as a WR and kick returner had pads making him look 30 pounds heavier---great game and brings back memories of Keith Jackson!
Memories like that are what make this game so important. It's not always about who wins or loses, but who you watch it with and the good times (or bad) you have together. RTR
My favorite bama NC everbody counted them out but me i wasnt not a expecting a asswhoopin but a win for sure sooooo sweet and keith jackson on the call what a legend and gene stallings bama coach then loved it .... And 1993 damm time flies by so fast seems so long ago
That defense was legendary. Eric Curry, John Copeland, Shannon Brown, Lemanski Hall, Derick Oden, Michael Rogers, Willie Gaston, Chris Donnelly (from Germantown Tennessee, just like Barrett Jones), TP Johnson, George Teague, Antonio Langham. In my opinion tide for best defense in last hundred years of college football. Tide only with the 2011 defense, led by Donta Hightower, Courtney Upshaw, Dre Kirkpatrick & the gang! RTR!!🌊
7 of the All SEC defensive players were on the Tide team and 4 of those 7 were 1st team All Americans.......One of college footballs greatest defenses ever.. In the last 4 games of the season...... LSU, auburn, SEC champ game with Florida and the NCG with Miami, less than 100 yards total rushing against the Tide in all 4 games...... unheard of.
didn't have to do much really-with the killer D and handing it off to Lassic-all he had to do was to manage the game and not turn it over-all of which he did!
Everyone needs to get off of Jay Barkers back and let it go. The Offense they had was built around the running game. Not even Peyton Manning would have gotten a lot of passing yards with that Offense. And also in Barkers "Defense" when a Offensive line cannot keep the Defensive line off the Quarterback during passing situations then there definitely will not be very many passing yards. No, the Offensive line is who I blame for them being so inept most of the time along with the pathetic Offensive play calling by the OC.
that should teach the Miami players to keep their mouths shut instead of boasting to everyone about how "we're gonna kick Alabama's ass". Oh yeah? who's ass got kicked? Roll Tide Roll
"Gino was never the same." Bizarre comment given it was Torretta's last collegiate game, and he never had NFL-level talent to even be a regular back-up.
"The game demoralized Miami for seasons to come." More bullshit. 2 years after this game, Miami was hit with 2 years of probation by the NCAA for lack of institutional control. Dennis Erickson quit, Butch Davis was hired, Miami had to skip 2 bowl games in the mid-90s, but worst of all was the loss of scholarships that made it rough during 95, 96, 97 and 98. By 1999 Miami upset #1 UCLA, by 2000 Miami finished #2 overall, and by 2001 Miami was national champion with what even today is undisputably regarded as the greatest college football team ever assembled.
I was in New Orleans and stayed in the French Quarter the whole week leading up to this game, and of course went to the game, and the entire time day after day, night after night, Miami players, fans, drunks just talked vulgar trash to our players, fans, it was the most disrespect shown to a Alabama team in my 60 years of going to games and various Championships,,, I never witnessed or heard about any sort of response from our guys, they just waited and waited, then shut them up in the game, Out of all the National Championships this was by far the sweetest and Miami deserved every bit of this beat-down.
I remember living next door to some dude from up North and he told me a couple of days before the game that he wanted Bama to win because he was tired of the trash that Miami players talked as well as all the garbage that they seemingly got away with. This Alabama victory really put a muzzle on them. Roll Tide.
watched every play that night, BAMA was a 13 point underdog and they beat the Canes in every phase of the game, defense, offense, special teams and big plays. They so dominated the Canes that it looked like Miami was the high school team and the the TIDE was ------- THE CRIMSON TIDE, ROLL TIDE!!!
The first time Bama put 11 men on the line Gino saw broken bones in the near future. Griese clued in on it off the bat. Fun fact, they never practiced that as a team, they didn't want the press to give it away.
Im a die hard canes fan i felt miami came into this game way too confident and cocky as they always were but miami underestimated how good alabama was and how tough alabama s defense was credit to alabama they were the better and deserve to win this game we got beat thoroughly big respects to alabama.
They were also way too cocky before playing Penn St. in 87' Fiesta Bowl. That and all the turnovers are why they lost that one. Idk if Miami was actually the better team in this game (probably not), but they DEFINITELY were better than Penn St.
Having watched so many great bama games, including the goal line stand, in 77, I have to say, this and the 2009 BCS against texas were the greatest games ever for us Bama fans. Crushing Vinny "Testicle"verde and "Cold" McCoy were highlights for sure. ROLL TIDE!!!!
After watching this game, I was reminded of the letter sent to then University of Miami President Tadd Foote. The letter showed up in a '95 Sports Illustrated, and it was written by Alexander Wolff, and the SI cover told the entire story really. The cover was....Wht the University of Miami Should Drop Football. This was of course 3 years AFTER this game, and several years after Miami was really misbehaving on the field. The charges leveled against Miami was astonishing, and how Mimai avoided The Death Penalty is amazing. 1 very interesting name popped up, and this name was not tied to Miami, but rather it was the Seattle Seahawks' HC at the time...and former Miami HC....Dennis Erickson, and the bad behaviour of 1 of his Assistants that led to a Civil Suit levied against the former Assistant. Apparently this Assistant got into a bar fight, and injuries occurred....caused by him. This Assistant's name was none other than Ed Orgeron!! Not only did Wolff try and get President Foote to drop Football at Miami, he tried again 16 years later, only this time the University President was Donna Shalala. This was just 9 years ago. If you read this, and never read that letter found in the 1995 Sports Illustrated (it's easily found online...as I found it)....you NEED to go and read up on just what Miami University (Coral Gables Florida...not Ohio...of course lol) Football players, some Boosters, some fans (especially a certain Rapper), and others directly connected to Miami (University Employees) got up to, that led to this scathing letter and demand of having Hurricanes Football dropped. It's mind blowing!
Starting with the 1985 Sugar Bowl blowout loss to Tennessee (when Miami wasn't "The U" yet), the Hurricanes were an incredible 78-5 from that point leading into this game. And no one had ever taken them behind the woodshed like this; 4 of those 5 losses were games that came down to the final possession. I don't think the fact that no one expected Alabama to win this had anything to do with lack of respect for the Crimson Tide, it had everything to do with the run of success Miami was on at that time.
Yes, lack of respect was there. There were a lot of ludmouths spouting off a month before the game. I went to the game. One fan for Miami had a sweatshirt on that said Miami 5 time National Champions and it also had on it the years '83-'87-'89-"91 and yes "92. There were also signs that the staff in the Super Dome were going to sell at the stadium at the end of the game with names of the teams already printed on it with Miami at the top and Alabama at the bottom. They were supposed to wait before printing the teams name on them to find out who won because the winning team always goes at the top and the losing teams name at the bottom. They had already anticipated Miami winning the game. So no respect was there even with the stadium staff as well as what aeemed like everywhere else in the Country.
The 1992-93 University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team finished the season 13-0. Of the eleven players on Alabama's 1992 defense, seven were named All Southeastern Conference and four were named All-American. That season I was able to attend nine of the thirteen games Alabama played. I have no doubts that the 1992 Alabama Crimson Tide defense was the best college defense that I've ever seen play football. To understand just how good they were, take time to look up their defensive statistics for the 1992 season. Just this past week Alabama lost one of their greats as Kenny Stabler passed July 8, 2015. Yesterday, July 15, 2015 one of Alabama's all-time great football broadcasters, Doug Layton passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. When Mr. Layton found out a few weeks back that his cancer had spread, his only wish was that he would live long enough to see the Alabama / Wisconsin football game coming up September 5, 2015. On that day, to make Doug Layton's wish come true, I would like to invite every Alabama fan across the country to pin Doug's initials (DL) somewhere on your clothing for that game. Thank you and Roll Tide!
I remember watching this with my "Papa" (grandfather). He was gone 4 years later. Just so glad he got to see one last championship. Each year there's a part of me that says, "Dang, I sure wish he could be here for the Saban Era." He would be just over the moon.
Was 22 just broke up with my boyfriend was at home by myself watched this game and it was one of the best alabama games ever I was so happy and excited. Miami thought they were gonna woop our ass boy were they wrong.
That penalty call at 51:28 was completely ridiculous. An unsportsmanlike penalty against Bama vs those churlish, uber arrogant Miami hurricanes is the ultimate irony. Miami re-invented poor sportsmanship to the point where they had to change the rules just to hinder their smack talking. That ref should have been punched.
I know this is 4 years too late BUT, here you were rightfully busting Miami's balls over their style of play....correctly calling it poor sportsmanship....and then you took the low road and did a Miami, by declaring the Referee should have been punched lol. Hopefully you decided which side of sportsmanship you were going to stand on since then.
Lamar Thomas talking trash how no player for Alabama could catch him and the rest of them were saying Alabama's defense wasn't any good. Well Teague hawked him down and took the ball....best play of the game! Didn't count but Miami sure did look defeated!!! Corso hating on Bama too! ROLL TIDE ROLL
I was never so happy to see Alabama win than I was to see them beat this hawty Miami team. Alabama showed Miami what it means to play football this night. RMFT
The one thing I remember about that season. There was a sports writer in Texas who gave Alabama the only number 1 vote all season long. And he never watched one game of Alabama that season. But some how he knew.
If Gino had any conscious he would mail that Heisman to it's rightful winner Marshal Falk.... One of the great Heisman travesties... East Coast and Deep South voters just couldn't believe the best player in America played for San Diego St. History and the NFL showed the truth.
@@duaneholcomb8408 I think you're being too simplstic I am not saying that "the best Pro should have won the Heisman." As great a pro as he became, Emmitt Smith never was the best player in College during his 3 years... Finished 9th in Heisman voting as a FR (Tim Brown*), wasn't in top 10 as So (Barry Sanders), and 7th as JR (Andre Ware). Smith skipped in Sr year (Ty Detmer won in '90). Smith never lead the nation in rushing, not close really... in '93 Marshal Faulk lead the nation in Rushing and passed the eyeall test, while Torretta wasn't even the best QB his year (Drew Bledsoe) and the eyeball test clearly said Gino was a "good" QB on a loaded team.... Faulk's RB stats were much better than Torretta's QB stats. Many Voters just thought Faulk was the beneficiary of "weak competition" .. I point out Faulk's HOF NFL career to show how wrong it was to make that assuption. There is a reason Gino Torretta makes almost every list of "10 least deserving Heisman Winners" ... Finally * you could make a case that Thurman Thomas was more deserving than Tim Brown in '87 (had better numbers than FR Smith as well), but Brown was an NFL HOFer so you can't knock his talent. Brown benefited from Notre Dame name like Torretta benefited from Miami name and Faulk was punished for San Diego St's low profile. Have a great day.

Then you weren't a REAL Miss State fan...
@jeffdarnell7942 I was sir. People can always change their minds. When I was in Mississippi, I definitely wasn't an Alabama fan.
My best friend was there and he was a Tennessee fan, we all pulled for Bama and Bama destroyed them.
i’m a hurricane fan but it was incredible watching alabama’s speed on defense which is something we were normally dominant
This Miami team run it’s mouth so much in the build up to this game. It was GREAT to see them humbled.
The thing that ticks me off is two 30 for 30 documentaries on Miami and no mention of this game. They can mention losing to Penn State in '86 and Ohio State in '03 but not that undefeated season in '92 leading up to this game. Still must hurt after all these years
everyone hates alabama did u see that safety we caused in the sugar bowl and they said he was down at the 2 yd line
@bb
What I've noticed on these posts, again and again, are UofM supporters saying, when there team looses a bowl game is "this Hurricane team wasn't THAT good" or " this Hurricane team was mediocre" talk about the fable of The Sour Canes
To be fair those two games were all-time classics. This one was a beatdown!
My favorite all time win for the Tide!!! It always will be
No doubt!
Absolutely one of the very BEST memories of my entire LIFE. RTR
It unfortunately was negated by an offside penalty
@@LOLMAN9538 not the pick 6. You're thinking about the rundown of Lamar Thomas. That happened after the pick 6.
Time stamps please
90s college football was the best and Keith Jackson (best Announcer ever) !
RTR!!
I was 23 when this game was played. Still remember it like yesterday.
I was 20 old now
16 for me and remember it well .. RTR !
I agree that it was the turning point, even though it was negated.
They still had to make a play or else Miami would've taken the result of the play.
Teague had a pick six early in the third quarter which was also very impressive.
@@DanielSong39 ZACKLY 👍 Prevented a TD on essentially a free play.
Of all of the great Crimson Tide Football victories that I have seen in my many years this was long my favorite. I now rank it right next to the recent NCG thrashing of Notre Dame. One of the greatest underdog victories in the history of the sport. Thanks so much for the upload.

I remember Lee Corso predicted Miami would win big Ha that's when I knew, my beloved Tide would make football history that night. RTR!
Lee is a hack!
@@speedracer2336 agree!
COULD NOT AGREE MORE! Other than the day my daughter was born, the very best night/weekend of my LIFE. YOU described it perfectly!
He was saying they were fat and SLOW 😂
@@Mikevdog Yeah, I remember him being on Bourbon Street the week before the game insulting Alabama players while they just played it cool, and waited for the game to start.

1:42:55 Most impressive defensive play in college football history.
+filodipicori Ya, I can't think of anything to top it.
The play at 1:38:30 might have been better.
Thank you I was looking for it the whole time
Alabama did not play Miami in 1991. Do your research next time.
Had it counted it would have gone down as the greatest play in college football history.
This team had the best defense in the history of college football
They're definitely up there! 1997 Michigan and 2011 Alabama also comes to mind.
99 FSU
No doubt best defense in the last 40 years. Totally carried the team to a national title.
Florida State had the best defense ever. They needed it because Michael Vick was impossible!
The Seven Blocks Of Granite want a word with you. Also, Duke's 1938 team went an entire season without allowing a single point.
But if we're talking in the last 40 years, this team is right up there.
For the record. I was part of the few who predicted Alabama would win/ It was the beginning of the end for the original "U"
Other than the previous year's team, the U was largely overrated. They were the beneficiary of bad FG kickers on FSU, weak schedules and playing in the Orange Bowl, their backyard, for championships. FL gave Bama a better game that year.
That is correct, The beginning of the end
@@michaelschaefer1904 You’re clueless! Weak schedule? Schools turn down Miami genius! Look up the greatest team of all time! 2001 Canes!

Keith Jackson was simply the best. R.I.P., Keith. We love you and miss you.
It was Lee Corso
Thanks for a great upload! I'm a Texas A&M fan, but I always appreciate the classics!
One quality of older commentators that I miss sorely today, is how they address all aspects of a play, and give credit to all those involved, especially the offensive line on big run plays.
And did you notice that color man Bob Griese didn't even SPEAK until second down in the first series? The greats also knew how to shut up.
forgot how big the late 80's/early 90's shoulder pads were...#45 Lynch had huge ones but even the "deuce" David Palmer as a WR and kick returner had pads making him look 30 pounds heavier---great game and brings back memories of Keith Jackson!
That Alabama defence is the Greatest Defence still to this day that i have ever seen! It was unreal.
Lol
One of the best. 2011, 2015, 2016, 2009 close...2011 maybe statistically better
1992 Bama defense is the best I've eve seen.
The game was different back then
Just noticed that a starting LB wasn't playing for Alabama in this game.
What a defense!! I remember the Sports Illustrated article quoting Gino he said "The whole game was a blur, I don't remember a thing".
I remember thinking up a t shirt idea after that game News flash: the hurricane in Miami has been down graded to a tropical depression.
Great game for George Teague. You will not find a nicer family, top to bottom, that the Teagues.
One of the best memories of me and my husband . RIP PHILLIP.

LSU, auburn, SEC champ game with Florida and the NCG with Miami, less than 100 yards total rushing against the Tide in all 4 games...... unheard of.
Barker might be the worst Qb to ever win a national championship. But that really tells you just how good that Bama defense was. SImply astonishing.
didn't have to do much really-with the killer D and handing it off to Lassic-all he had to do was to manage the game and not turn it over-all of which he did!
Maximus Wolfe Neither quarterback in this game was very good. The defenses were center stage on this night for sure.
Jay Barker was not the worst Quarterback to ever win the national championship and plus he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers
Barker was atrocious in this game but unbelievably was the better quarterback in the game by some margin.
This game demoralized Miami for seasons to come. Gino was never the same.
that should teach the Miami players to keep their mouths shut instead of boasting to everyone about how "we're gonna kick Alabama's ass". Oh yeah? who's ass got kicked?
@@zoso73 Miami only skipped in 1995. In 1997, they had a losing season.
@@LogoAttitude the upshot is that the 1995 sanctions cost them 2 Bowl appearances, one enforced and the other as a practical consequence.
Agreed! I pulled for Alabama hard in this game. Fuck Miami!
I remember living next door to some dude from up North and he told me a couple of days before the game that he wanted Bama to win because he was tired of the trash that Miami players talked as well as all the garbage that they seemingly got away with. This Alabama victory really put a muzzle on them. Roll Tide.
Well said!
watched every play that night, BAMA was a 13 point underdog and they beat the Canes in every phase of the game, defense, offense, special teams and big plays. They so dominated the Canes that it looked like Miami was the high school team and the the TIDE was ------- THE CRIMSON TIDE, ROLL TIDE!!!

"George Teague is unbelievable."
This game was the intro to my love for football...........Gotta love a coach who looks like a mob figure.
The first time Bama put 11 men on the line Gino saw broken bones in the near future. Griese clued in on it off the bat. Fun fact, they never practiced that as a team, they didn't want the press to give it away.
Very few people gave Alabama a chance in this game. A lot of people especially sportswriters had to eat a lot of crow after it.
I heard Vinny threw the game to save his dad from gambling debts

Great great game. One of my all time favs.
Strange to see Cristobal playing for Miami now he is our OL coach.
The name is Teague ... George Teague!!!
"Seemed' at the bottom not "aeemed" my mistake.
God do I miss Keith Jackson.
I was 10 years old best game ever we loss i come here to cry again. Go miami

It looks like we're the only one's here that remember the game before these animals changed it forevermore (1984)

How Gino won the Heisman that year is beyond me, I guess it was just a bad game but he truly sucked in this game.
He just played against the best defense they ever faced.
He just went up against the best ever defence in history any body else would have got a ass wuping ,
If Gino had any conscious he would mail that Heisman to it's rightful winner Marshal Falk.... One of the great Heisman travesties... East Coast and Deep South voters just couldn't believe the best player in America played for San Diego St. History and the NFL showed the truth.
@@VegasUte well if that's the case emit Smith should have gotten one too look what he did in the pro's,,,
@@duaneholcomb8408 I think you're being too simplstic I am not saying that "the best Pro should have won the Heisman." As great a pro as he became, Emmitt Smith never was the best player in College during his 3 years...
