Tremendous game. Thanks for posting. I remember this game well as I watched it with my dad - he was a USC grad. We were pulling for Alabama (who USC had beaten comfortably earlier in the year) who by defeating undefeated Penn State gave the Trojans a share of the national championship. Jackson and Broyles what a team.
One of the most memorable paintings in the history of BAMA FOOTBALL, THE BETTER PASS, QUOTE TO THE PENN STATE QUARTERBACK , A THRILLING VICTORY FOR BAMA, A LIVING NIGHT MARE FOR JOE PATERNO AND PENN STATE!!!!
What a game. Alabama's goalline stand was one of the most memorable moments in college football history. Quite a Penn State team too. They routed Ohio State in Columbus in the opener.
I was there. I've been to over 600 Tide games and I have to list this as one of the top five significant wins (maybe top two) since the early 1970's. The goal line stand has become part of college football folklore, and a seminal moment in the history of the sport.
Not sure why, but to me Major Ogilvie is the epitome of an Alabama player. He wasn't necessarily a star, but the guy who makes smart decisions and does the little things to win.
@@debbiehenson1096 I meant not like Tony Nathan, or Barry Krauss or Marty Lyons. But I suppose anyone who starts at Alabama is a star. Trivia: I worked with someone years ago who said that Major Ogilvie was part of a group that would escort women across campus at night as a safety effort. Said he was very genuine.

He was a HUGE star. He had fans all over the country including me.

Bama's greatest win and my fav Bama player , the gr8 Major Ogilvie.
If you watched the NFL in the 80s, you'll recognize a bunch of these players. These two teams were chock full of talent.
2:55:05 the greatest goal line stands in Sugar Bowl history.
Thanks. I've been looking for the complete version of this for some time now. Much appreciated!
