Quick heads up to folks out there, in order for the corrupt gate to reset the clock, you have to toggle that setting by holding shift and pressing corrupt (iirc). Otherwise you're flipping the corrupt gate. I also could have just missed him mentioning that, in which case ignore me, lol. Lastly, thank you so much for making this video! I watched the entire thing at least 3 times while I waited for it in the mail and it's quickly becoming my favorite module. It may even be my favorite music making tool ever! Cheers buddy, 🍻
I got this Data Bender thinking it would simply add nice glitches. It certainly does that, but also does so much more. For the real estate it takes up, it ends up being pretty damn transformative for a system. It's like a really capable and pleasantly odd extra voice. You did a great job showing that off. I friggin' love this module!
There's nothing more I love to do with this than run simple drum beats through it - thanks for demoing and elaborating on all the cool things you can do beyond just macro mode (which lets be clear, is already a LOT) I am, as usual, in awe of your ability to put all of this together, as you do in the rings to data bender jam.
I've had this module for a couple of months now and I use it in almost every patch. I thought I knew everything it could do, but you showed me some new tricks that I can't wait to try out!
Great demo, your posts really stand out amidst a sea of eurorack videos. Subscribed, liked and and looking forward to future content. All the best from the UK
this thing pairs really well with the Paratek "pusk" ('start' in cyrilic) and some sliders. I've really enjoyed running my sounds through a reverb first to get that 'broken reality' sound. this module is just so much fun!
When I first saw this I did not think I would like it much. But I love it! And thanks for the demo Jeremy, I love your content and your style presenting it!
Last time I've headbanged that much during a eurorack module demo was your amen break choppage on the Erica Synths Sample Drum 🤘The post-rock jam at the end was beautiful as well.
Damn, Jeremy, this is great! I hadn't really looked at Qu-Bit much until the last couple of weeks, since my local vendor started selling Aurora, and I started looking into them. Holy crap, they have some seriously good module design. Thanks as always for the videos - They're a massive help.
The final jam is absolutely fantastic man. At points I was curious about how much of it was happy accidents. :) Then I figured the fantastic video editing skills with cuts. Regardless, final jam was an absolute pleasure to listen to.
Absolutely loved the downtempo section with the Eric Whitacre samples sprinkled in. Giving me goosebumps over here, dude. Bouta make me ack up and buy a drum machine to go with my ambient modular. lmao
Damn good demo. Great context. Like others, I was not really feelin' it with this module. But you have prompted a lot of ideas. I can easily see this as a wonderful underlying sound texture in a song.
I think (in a way) this is the evolution of delay as an effect. It kind of provides you with a companion who plays along with you, always surprising you with new ideas and variations. It would probably fare really well as a guitar effect pedal, too (or a vst). I'd even go so far as to predict that it will see a lot of clones and me-too products and may define the sound of a sub-genre or era. Time will tell.
I kind of think it is the other way around. I recall VSTs from around 10 years ago covering the same kind of ground. It has just taken a long time to arrive in eurorack.
Another very cool presentation of a module! I already picked SWN due to another of your videos. This one will likely be next. I've shared quite a few of your videos on facebook group Modular Music and Synthscapes.
This module is stunning in every way. Complete no-brainer for the last remaining space in my rack. Mine arrived yesterday afternoon, so I'm spending the working day watching videos on it before I get a chance to finally patch it! As a eurorack / Maschine+ user, I would love to see a workflow video from you sampling from eurorack for sequencing on Maschine.
@@RedMeansRecording I hear you. This is essentially my workflow when I'm not in the mood to stare at a computer screen. So it's a bit of a change of pace and helps me explore different ideas than what either are capable of on their own. Personally, I'm not using my system to make full fledged musical pieces like you and many others, just as breeding ground for samples to chop and sequence. Either way, I look forward to the next notification from you. Quality videos all around!
Thanks for the demo! Data Bender was in the mail today! I love it! 26:09: For VST glitch check out Native Instruments "The Finger". Also very lovely for glitchy stuff. Cheers :)
The other day, I begged my wife to talk me out of getting this module. “No,” she said. “Life is short.” This and the Desmodus Versio arrive next week. Gon’ glitch me some bats 🦇💿
I seem to be like many others, thought it wasn’t on my radar, now it is next on to purchase list... I’m actually shopping for a saturation/color module(s).... qu Bit needs to offer a seller link for BUYERS TO GET A DISCOUNT... LOOKS LIKE THEY WILL SELLOUT IF THEY HAVENT ALREADY. CHEERS.. CAPS NEATO.. Cat approves.
New to modular. At 1:06 you mention gating every 8 bars. Could you explain this please? Or, more to the point, I've got a Pamela's New Workout, could I do the same with that? Thanks!
i tried to watch this video and lear nabout the databender while my audio is being chopped up by the databender lol any other recommendations for versatile music destruction?
These videos make me want to try out some kind of baby eurorack setup, but I don't know anything at all about music production. I just want to send some basic sounds into something like that Data Bender and fiddle with knobs to enjoy the mutations it produces. Is it viable to approach this like an audio toy, rather than as a means of making music? In any case, love the explanations and the demos. You should get that modem checked out though :D
Awesome demo! I am looking forward to getting this module. Quick question: at 9:36 the "ambient interlude"- you mention that you are using four samples from the Rample. From what I can tell the Data Bender has a stereo input and you have two cables going into the inputs. Are you splitting the mix output of the Rample into the stereo input?
@@RedMeansRecording well, overall. The bass has a very nice, almost natural progression. If few like something coming out of a daw. lol it’s just beyond me my scope at this point and I wanna grow up and play like you 😬

I'm imagining the DFAM and this as a perfect pair. Thanks for the jams and the great info as always!

I just convinced myself I didn’t need this module. Darn you, Jeremy!!!!
It has a steep price and no DIY options, unfortunately :C
Doesn't mean I am not convinced I need it
Just got this, even though I'm broke because... modular
This is the best demo and walkthrough on the Data Bender I have seen. Need to find room in my rack.
Stunning video! You have a great ear. Loved the last few minutes .
There's nothing more I love to do with this than run simple drum beats through it - thanks for demoing and elaborating on all the cool things you can do beyond just macro mode (which lets be clear, is already a LOT)
I am, as usual, in awe of your ability to put all of this together, as you do in the rings to data bender jam.
I was trying to decide if this was the module I needed for vocal mangling. You've helped me decide that it definitely is.
Ooooofff, the demo from 17:50 is absolutely beautiful 😭I love your videos Jeremy
This is EXACTLY the type demo I wanted for this module, f***ed up, glitchy drums. YES.
I'm sure there are other videos on the Data Bender, but this was the only one I needed to see to know I had to have it. Dope demo, RMR! Thank you 🙏
Wow. That bit crushed feedback guitar sound is exactly the sound I’ve been looking for. Another beautiful jam!
And here I am 10 years after saying Eurorack is just a phase!! I don’t want to get into messy cables etc. Damn this is cool. Love your videos btw!
I was on the fence about this module for a while, but this demo helped me make up my mind. Thank you for showing what this thing is capable of!
I've had this module for a couple of months now and I use it in almost every patch. I thought I knew everything it could do, but you showed me some new tricks that I can't wait to try out!
Beautiful. Every time Jeremy digs in that pocket. Be it. Dark and deep. The feels are immense!
Sweating trying to make sacrifices in my system watching this. Was gonna sell rings until i saw the end.
DO NOT SELL RINGS. IT SOUNDS AMAZING THROUGH THE DATA BENDER.
This is the best and most inspiring representation of this module. Thanks. Ordered one.

Yeah through verb first is something I've been wanting to try!
4 minutes in & I'm the most tempted to buy I've been in months & months
Qu-bit modules might end up being all I have in my case other than a rainmaker. This thing is amazing!
When I first saw this I did not think I would like it much. But I love it! And thanks for the demo Jeremy, I love your content and your style presenting it!
Same here :D

Oh man this is incredible.
I have two and would get more
@@RedMeansRecording High praise!
I'm borrowing one of these from a friend right now and I'm gonna have to buy one.. Just a fucking incredible module
Oh damn, the Rings -> DB giving me hella Four Tet "Rounds" vibes
Super inspiring!
I have to rethink the way I'm treating samples and sampling. (:
Fuck why is life so hard, there's always one more module I absolutely have to have NOW.
Nice demo man. Every new variation sounds ace.
The final jam is absolutely fantastic man. At points I was curious about how much of it was happy accidents. :) Then I figured the fantastic video editing skills with cuts. Regardless, final jam was an absolute pleasure to listen to.

really fun messing around on bass to this, much appreciated
I think this is the coolest one so far, great video. definitely picking this up.
Update, I bought it. It’s epic.

re: genres, see Oval/Microstoria, 90s et al
I kind of think it is the other way around. I recall VSTs from around 10 years ago covering the same kind of ground. It has just taken a long time to arrive in eurorack.
As software/VST, there is Audio Damage Replicant 2 that's very similar to the DB. Also the Beat Repeat Ableton Live audio effect too, more or less...
Modem master. Another great vid, thanks Jeremy!
revisiting this awesome video because mine is arriving Monday :D Wicked stuff here man!
that bend effect is insane on the bass

That "rings to data bender jam" is 🔥 🔥 🔥 !
your setup rules man
I can allmost hear you smiling while demoing this😂.
Oh man now i need one. Lovely and a half ❤
Haha he says "yes". That's what I was thinking too. Really nice
Jeremy, is it as easy as you make it look?
Those are some lovely patches.
I have no idea what most of these terminologies mean but the equipment looks cool and the music is dope
Crumbs! Sounds like you've got half an album there already! I just ordered mine from Juno in UK. Looking forward to receiving it.
This is absolutely perfect. @19:40 hot damn
There goes two more channels of my mixer i guess :) lovely.
I got one word for you J...Awesome
Insane demonstration!
Great! Awesome demo.
Just got the last free 14hp in my case and also just i need to something like it...
You are the best. The intro is so funny
Awesome patches!

@@els1f I know, right?! 💖

New to modular. At 1:06 you mention gating every 8 bars. Could you explain this please? Or, more to the point, I've got a Pamela's New Workout, could I do the same with that? Thanks!
Damn. I've never used it for percussion but now I really need to.
SOLD! Great demo
Ya.... I'm going to need that.
Bender Slaps Hard😁
Amazing
holy ___ that was dope.
This is siiiiiick
Also sounds like this module should be part of a cyberpunk pack somewhere lol
Ordered. Thanks for spending money but I’ll thank you again later
Sooo thanks I got it today it was a good call
It reminds me a lot of Mutable Instruments Clouds/Beads.
Bender Jam = Anthem
Beautiful :)
So essentially like an Ableton Live Beat Repeat with some twists, for eurorack.
Not really
Came here because I was just curious of what this module could do and left with being obsessed! How is that?!? 🤷♂️
Now I need to have one, uhh 🙄!
This is filthy and I must have it
This is wild…. Want!!!
i tried to watch this video and lear nabout the databender while my audio is being chopped up by the databender lol any other recommendations for versatile music destruction?
Another module for the list... 😓
Would love to see the Plaits setup driving that bassline!
It's probably just plaits in wavetable voice with a deep setting dialed in!
Game changer
a classic.
Yes you have a beautiful hand. Please rename video. “RMR right hand demo”

Yes that's a complex viable way to approach modular
7:43 sounds like Kiss by Prince 💋 💋
Awesome demo! I am looking forward to getting this module. Quick question: at 9:36 the "ambient interlude"- you mention that you are using four samples from the Rample. From what I can tell the Data Bender has a stereo input and you have two cables going into the inputs. Are you splitting the mix output of the Rample into the stereo input?
I mix the rample in a doepfer 138-s
@@RedMeansRecording - thanks for the reply- I was just curious then do you split that output into the stereo input of the Bender?
The 138-s has a stereo output. That goes into the data bender.
@@RedMeansRecording - LOL -snap- I missed that detail! Thanks for the reply!
Thank you for sharing as always! Do you still think that if worth it to have it?
I like this one! What patch cables are those btw?
Probably hosa
@@RedMeansRecording Thank you.
Best shit Iv heard in a loooongntime
Stutter edit 2 is a pretty rad vst that does some similar stuff
So dope! Great job man! Question on that bassline? Is that done in modular? If so, who is that set up? Im having a hard time at basslines like that.
At what point?
@@RedMeansRecording well, overall. The bass has a very nice, almost natural progression. If few like something coming out of a daw. lol it’s just beyond me my scope at this point and I wanna grow up and play like you 😬
It’s the bassline that comes in at 20:21 coming from the Plaits. It has a groovy feel that sounds very natural
13:16 got real
Cool for audio, does it record and mangles cv also ? Was that a keeper ?
This is off topic but any chance of a show & tell of your eurorack desk/shelves?
Its custom furniture made by a very cool person on my patreon.
