Excellent video. I bought seeds from True Leaf Last year and gave about 60 away to friends and have about 70 growing this year in pots to give to friends this year. They were amazing even from seed last year growing fast and producing loads of flowers even though very small plants. My sisters that she has had a few years are about 6 feet tall in the summer.
Tried growing this in the AZ desert, but our "full sun" here in Lake Havasu is more like nuclear fission. Kept it watered daily to keep soil moisture good but our summer heat here is brutal.
Have had great bloomings this year. Kept up with the count and believe I have had 86 blooms in all. Started blooming around June 12th but looks like it may be over. Only one bloom today. Most I have had in one day was nine. Today is only July 4th. Do you think it's through blooming? I live in East Texas. I love this plant!!!

Most varieties grow up to a zone 9 but many resource state they can grow up to a zone 10. I would suggest to check with your local garden centers if they can suggest a variety that does well in your area. Happy gardening!
I just found a pink hibiscus growing wild by the river my house is on. I only noticed bc I saw bright pink as I walked by on the road so I walked down to see what it was (bc I enjoy transposing wild flowers/shrubs to plant in my yard) and managed to get JUST enough root with it that once it died back briefly it immediately started pushing out more green. How come there was just one random little hibiscus growing all by itself? There aren’t any similar ones nearby at all - I checked lol
Should spent blooms be removed? And just to confirm- cut back in the spring? The nursery I bought mine at said to cut back in the fall and protect with straw/mulch. I am in zone 3 (northwest WI). 🤞 that it survives our winters. TIA.
Spent blooms can be removed but the plant actually takes care of that for you! They will droop and then fall off on their own. I prefer to leave the stalks over the winter months as the plant sends up new growth so late in the spring that it is a good reminder where the plant is located. Most rose mallow are hardy to zone 4 so a layer of protection was good advice. You could either cut the plant back as suggested or leave the stalks to remain through winter. Do not apply the mulch or straw until the late in the fall when the plant has begun to go dormant.
Why did my plant only flower one time in the two months since I bought them? They are in sun and I've kept them watered for sure. Love the bloom but was hoping for more?
I guess they are doomed to flatten with a heavy rain, but will they rebound at all? I have had my white swamp rose mallow for at least 15 years now, right next to my pond. It is huge, 6' x 6'. I dont think i can put a big enough support around it. Any suggestions?
Personally I have found that adding a peony ring or large plant support early in the spring is very helpful to keep these particular plants upright all season long. -Amy
Hi I was wondering if you can divide the white dinner plate perennial hibiscus.i bought it in august of this year and it got really large and in the centre it actually looks like two plants .I want plant one in the garden and replant the other half in the pot .if it is possible..I live in Ontario Canada please reply .
Yes, they can be divided in half in the spring. You will need a sharp spade as the left over tissue is very woody. I would not suggest to plant the other half in a container as the roots will freeze and you will lose that part of the plant.

Found out yesterday that my neighbor has starts growing around her hibiscus. She is going to give me a few. Very pretty white with a pink center.
This isn’t the roselle Jamaican hibiscus this is a Ontario native hibiscus you can’t harvest the buds sorry to break it to you

I bought a packet of 10 seeds. I have 6 plants now. They will be beautiful accent plants.
I love them. They are easy to grow and does not need a lot of care. They bloom through out the summer and there are dozens of them in various colours
I've had my rose mallow for 4 years. They are so easy to care for but love water. Also the seedlings are easy to transplant

A layer of compost or an application of a general, all-purpose fertilizer in the spring would create a healthy plant. Do not over fertilize.

I just bought one and kept the karge pot in the sun but it seems to have kind of drupped completely and cant seem to reviveit
They are heavy water users. You may want to consider putting the entire pot in a bucket of water and allow it to soak up as much moisture as it needs.

Most varieties of rose mallow are hardy from USDA zones 4-9 but I would definitely check each individual plant tag for any zone variances.
