Amazing work as always, my dude! Thank you for inviting me to be part of the video, it was an honor to be a part of this year's Metroid Month. More importantly: MAKE SAMUS BUFF AGAIN!
Always love hearing you talk about Metroid. If you're ever looking for a squadmate to beat Federation Force with (before the 3DS Network is dead forever) hit me up! Always wanted to give the game a try in it's intended, co-op form.
The Zero Suit stealth section has always been my favourite part of that game - so much so that as a kid, I had a dedicated save file at the beginning of it so I could replay just that. It’s a shame the game ends so quickly afterwards; it would have been rad if you had to to collect the “unknown items” on Zebes after getting your suit back/ power bombs
I also think it'd be cool if maybe a 100% completion bonus would be unlocking the ability to play as Zero Suit Samus through the whole game, maybe with a beefed-up pistol so she could play comparably to her Power Suit counterpart. Kind of like an homage to the old Justin Bailey code!
Worth the wait! You did a lot of great work on your content this year! Please keep the gag of cocking the arm cannon at the mere mention of metroids XD
You know there's actually one more small gag I've kept in my Metroid videos when I talk about Ridley that I've always been curious if people noticed haha
I finally played Zero Mission as my intro to the Metroid franchise in October 2021. I absolutely loved it and picked up the Metroid Prime Trilogy and Fusion digitally on Wii U, then Samus Returns on 3DS. Weird thing holding me back from binging the series is that I wanted to do videos on them too, but I was debating how to actually record Samus Returns. Darn 3DS not having video out without an expensive and no longer available hardware mod.
Wayne you are the reason I have kept an interest in Metroid for all these years until I played Metroid Prime Remastered last year and adored it! I was my first game for my first switch that friends gifted me and even though it's been a year I hold that playthrough near and dear to my heart. As of right now I am playing Dread for the first time and it is just amazing. Hard but fun. I'm at the final boss as I write this and man it's so exciting and epic. I remember watching your review of Dread and being hyped for it those next couple of years. Thanks for sharing about these games. Because of you I have a new favorite series.
Diggernaut's Theme is actually a remix of the Berserker Lord Theme from Prime 3, which itself is a subtle remix of Arachnus-X from Fusion. But I can actually hear some similarities to Ridley's Theme in there too I just love how the remixes in Samus Returns are not only great on their own, but also heavily resemble their versions from the Prime games (just listen to Magmoor Caverns/Extreme Heat & Norfair). Combine that with the remixes/tracks ripped from those games (Gunship Theme from Prime 3, Item Obtainment and Puzzle Solved Jingle from Prime 1, etc) and it further helps to bring home the fact that this game finally brings together the 2D Games and the Prime series. Especially happy to see after Other M acted like the Prime games never happened. Also, the Area 7 Theme is a full-on remix of the Theme Of Super Metroid
I'm a digimon fan myself my fav series is adventure season one fav game Is digimon world one I can't till you review digimon world 3 and 4 to I played digimon world 1 alot and I think I played digimon world 3 a bit I played digimon rumble arena for ps1 and I play the english digimon card game you reviewed on ps1 to I think my fav digimon might be metal etemon or gatomon i started liking her more to cause im rewatching adventure season one over and again like I used to years ago to
Counterpoint to the GBA/SP dilemma; I believe that the best platform for playing GBA games on in 2023 - excluding emulation, and assuming you don't need the data port - is the DS lite. The screen is much better than the SP, it's backlit unlike the OG GBA, and I find it's more comfortable to hold. The only downside is that the cart sticks out a bit from the bottom, but that's manageable. The New 3DS can play GBA games but it's a bit of a hassle, not nearly as straightforward as just shoving a cart in. And unless you hack said 3DS, you can only play a very specific list of GBA games, and only if you were part of the Ambassador program. Emulation is possible with the likes of mGBA, but has... Caveats.
You know, I actually feel a little silly for not bringing up how good the game looks on a DS Lite cause yeah, it's actually great to play on that system lol
While I do agree it's probably best for the series to focus on moving forward, I'd rather like a Fusion remake. It'd be a nice to have when Dread relies a lot on being a sequel to Fusion's story. And I do think the original fusion suit design would look fantastic with the acrobatic combat style, not to mention the new gameplay having a lot of potential when combined with Fusion's more linear structure and many boss battles.
Metroid prime was the sole reason I wanted a game cube. Played the demo at a walmart and eventually my parents bought it for me. Totally worth it. The console has a lot of great games despite it failing. It didn't fail to me. I was happy. I liked the wii and wii u as well. As long as the games are good and I'm enjoying the systems, it's not a failure to me.
I took a double take when that one guest near the beginning said that Nintendo steers away from horror. All installments of Metroid have horror theming to certain extents of the games and very much so in specific areas. The Pokémon series usually have these areas in their installments that are usually at least unsettling to go through for one reason or another, making you glad when you manage to finish your business there so you can leave and not look back. The Kirby series usually has Eldritch horrors as its final bosses, and Kirby is a character is unsettling if you read to deeply into the little fellow. The Pikmin series has you trying to survive on a hostile planet that you have to leave the surface of, or find a fortified safe area, in order to survive the more dangerous nocturnal predators. To a small extent the Mario series wades through horror elements from time to time, with earlier series Boo Houses being unsettling buildings with many traps laid out by those mischievous ghosts, and the Luigi's Mansion series has you guiding Luigi through thickly haunted buildings.
I feel like Nintendo has a really hard time figuring out the perfect balance for amiibo. You don’t want a ton of content to be locked behind them but you also want there to be some cool feature you get for scanning them in the game. I feel like Samus Returns and dread represent both extremes. Samus returns locks too much content behind amiibo. I don’t think there’s a problem with locking art or music behind them because if somebody wants to look at those things they can just look them up. So I think those are fine. The problem is the fusion mode. Dread has the exact opposite problem. You really don’t get a lot for scanning the amiibo. Getting an extra energy tank is nice I guess but it’s not really not that substantial. The amiibo functionality in dread feels like such an afterthought
Oh I get that, Super is an absolute gem of a game but it is aged. That said, it's also a title I think only become more fun the more time and playthroughs you put into it But Fusion and Zero Mission are way more accessible from the getgo and seemed to learn a lot about maintain the design principles of their predecessors but also tweaking the pacing and movement, much like Caddy said
I actually wouldn't mind a remake of Super Metroid, granted it doesn't need one, but neither did Resident Evil 4 yet they remade it anyway and no complained about that.
Maybe the reason she isnt buff-looking anymore in canon is bc the chozo dna she got as a child. Like she partially ever so slightly's got that bird physiology. Powerful musculature, but not exactly bulging like with your standard humanoid.
Could also explain parts of her strength, as avians often have fairly dense, heavy bones that could lend to her power and dexterity. Always thought it'd be cool if they went a little deeper into all the abilities she got through her Chozo DNA...and I guess the rest of the DNA she has now lol
Hot take: Federation force deserves to be on switch just as much as prime 2 and 3. The game is really good and it’s a shame that it came out at literally the worst possible time. The game deserves a second chance
oh no, as of other M sadly those manga were canon and the worst part about that, to understand a few important story beats in other M you had to have read the mangas. like the reaction with ridly in his big boss fight. her reaction, the flashback to being a little girl and her blatent representation of PTS made NO sense if you hadnt read the mangas or anything about the entire team we meet and are treated like we should have an idea who they are
@robertkenny1201 dread was good but I wasn't a fan of samus returns. I'm fine with them continuing the series but super is special if it gets a remake it needs special attention
As an original gamer in his 40s, i hated the prime series when it was released. I loved the original 2d metroid and popped my game cube on with prime 1 or 2 times and never played it. When dread came out i bought a whole switch oled just for it. Then when prime remastered came out i gave prime another shot and was blown away. Luckily i had purchased the prime trilogy on my Wii U years ago and played them all after completing prime remastered.
Amazing work as always, my dude! Thank you for inviting me to be part of the video, it was an honor to be a part of this year's Metroid Month.
More importantly: MAKE SAMUS BUFF AGAIN!
Agreed. Samus is a muscle mommy to a metroid. Any other portrayal, I don’t consider canon.
Always love hearing you talk about Metroid. If you're ever looking for a squadmate to beat Federation Force with (before the 3DS Network is dead forever) hit me up! Always wanted to give the game a try in it's intended, co-op form.
I've been playing through it with a buddy as of recent it's fun enough
same here, id like to get in contact with you!
I only ever played a few missions co-op with 1 other friend. Been wanting to get back to it someday.
@@GeoTheHero I smell a squad brewing.
can i join the co-op?@@GeoTheHero

Thankfully those hardware mods are actually available again, at least to a limited degree. I'm looking to have it done myself
@@Wayneisboss wait, really? 😮 I might have to look into that... thanks for the heads up!

Hail! I'm always down for a Metroid video!
Nice video, it was relaxing and fun :)

Just 2 minutes in so far. Sounds better than usual though. New mic?
Same one, actually, but I've switched up my recording process a little bit and it seems like it's resulted in cleaner audio

Fusion and Zero mission will always be the games I revisit. I don’t have any nostalgia towards Super so it’s hard to play that game without it imo

love zero mission till the stealth crap with zero suit, so i kinda stop after beating mother brain

where is your metroid prime pinball video
He’s adorable
Honestly agreed with him on zero mission. Super was a masterpiece but the original really needed it super didnt
Well Resident Evil 4 needed a remake even less then Super Metroid yet they remade it anyway yet no one complained about it.
@robertkenny1201 I mean if Nintendo handled a super metroid remake in-house I'd be game but I wouldn't want mercury steam doing it
@Joseph928100 Why not? they did a pretty good with Samus Returns and Dread?
@robertkenny1201 dread was good but I wasn't a fan of samus returns. I'm fine with them continuing the series but super is special if it gets a remake it needs special attention
