Sweetie, last week I did just that and sold my first 150 bars to shops. Yay I'm so happy!! Feel like I'm on my way . thank you for all your great advice.
Hi JoAnna! You are just the sweetest lady and your passionate heart really shows through in these videos! Thank you so much for taking the time to help those of us who are still learning this business! You are a treasure!
Thanks for doing this, I have never considered growing beyond my tiny local farmer's market and occasional online sales, but love that you provide this info for those looking to grow and develop their lines. Great job
Great job as always. I have watched a number of soaping videos and I know of no other soap maker who's doing what you do; providing us with such wealth of information and devoting a day out of your very busy schedule to cater to our requests. I am truly grateful for you. You are truly a blessing. Thank you
That's why she successful sells more than a million bar of soap around the world. She is very generous, has very high empathy and big heart to help others.
I dont know if youve considered it for the future, but I just wanted to say that if you decided to sell an online course or a series of webinars for new soapmakers, I'd totally pay you for it.
Hi JoAnna. Could you talk about the process or ways that are appropriate to approach sales reps in these different markets? I am on the shyer side and I need to find a way to develop a marketing sales approach I feel comfortable doing. In a perfect world, customers would magically line up to purchase my lovely soap right off the curing trays. In place of magic I'm working on my marketing skills. :) Thank you.
Dear Joanna, thank you for your support. Your videos are the golden nuggets, and you are the Lady with Golden heart. I cannot wait for your next video. I am a hobby soapmaker, I started it one year ago, and my dream is an artisan soap studio. I wish you all the best, and waing for you to come back!!!! With my best regards, Hajni ( from Hungary - Europe)
Hi! A great pep talk on remembering our value! : ) As we are nearing the end of the (tax) year, tips on prepping taxes would be great. I just finished my 1st official quarter after registering an LLC in August. I don't feel confident I did everything correctly. I have read conflicting info on what we as Soap/Bath crafters count as inventory? Also info on how to deal with the growing pains of Soaping business. Room to make enough product efficiently while going after wholesale is a challenge. Anyhow, many thanks for your heartfelt generosity!
I am relatively new to soap making, and I am starting a business with it. I am so happy I found you via Katie Carson "royalty soaps." You are such a gold mine of knowledge and information! I hope to meet you one day! It is a please to see how passionate you are about making soap, as well as sharing what you know about the business. I hope you continue to be successful in any and everything you do! Thank you for being here.
What an encouragement you are, and thank you so much for sharing and building confidence. You are our Joanna and your heart makes a huge difference in my small business. Thank you Joanna.
I love watching you!! You are an amazing person. You are great at breaking things down, and making it alot easier to understand, and giving us the chance to learn from your mistakes, and successes, which makes it less intimidating! I've been making soap and products for 6 years, and hard work, and a company reached out TO ME and asked about wholesale! I'm very excited, but I do not want to short myself, for the price of ingredients and labor. So I searched UA-cam. This video helped me out tremendously! Thanks Joanna God bless you!!❤❤❤
YOU ARE A GIFT!!! Thank you so much!! You are such a kind, caring, smart, and giving person to share your extensive knowledge and I appreciate it so much. I am just in the process of researching how to scale up and I just love your videos and have learned so much from your generous sharing of information. Thank you again. Sue Marsh
First things first... I LOVE your haircut! Second, I would love to learn about the software you use for soaps. The one that calculates the cost of the bar and everything.
Thank you for the video! I look forward to your videos weekly. I love your passion for soap making and soap making community. May God bless you abundantly for all the knowledge that you share to help make us successful on our business journey. It is greatly appreciated! You are definitely a Golden Nugget :)
You’ve got such a special heart! Thank you❤️ I haven’t made soap in three years...slowly working towards my start date💕 Wishing you all the best with your business endeavor❣️
You inspire me so much. I know it was God that brought me to your channel when I was down and discouraged about my business. Thank you so much for the lives you’ve touched 🫶🏼
Joanna thank you so much for your encouragement and inspiration! You give everything such a new and refreshing perspective. I recently sold at my first market and the photographer there said, " soap, I mean soap?" Like it wasn't a necessary commodity or that it was something that anybody could do. I was so frustrated and already anxious that I wasn't able to fully educate him on the importance of what I provide. Like a product that doesn't have its natural elements removed and harsh substances that could cause health defects.... Not to mention all the personal attention put into formulating each bar. Thank you Joanna for reminding me that what we do is important and matters.😘
Hi Joana, Thank you so much for your videos. I absolutely love them. I'd love it if you could go into more detail about trade shows and getting wholesale/manufacturing accounts.
You actually brought a tear to my eye. I can tell your heart is truly in helping us grow and prosper. God bless you for that. As far as what I would like to understand better is formula making for soap making. I don't really have the funds to take a class right now, but have been developing a passion to understand it so I can create my own recipes instead of using a lye calculator all the time. Thank you for talking the time to help us.
Thank you for the video. What I’d love to learn from you is the start up from hobby to business. I’m now ready to begin the business of selling my soaps but am having a hard time getting it to the point of feeling like I’m set up for a business. I’m not sure which insurance to buy, how to get sales tax stuff set up, business license, and just in general what all exactly is needed and what steps did you take and when did you know you were ready?
I really like wholesaling my products. I've just started doing this and I can't believe how well my soap is selling in a store. Finding the right location is a big part of local sales. I have been considering Amazon for the next step. Lots to think about. Thanks again Joanna! 🌷 Jen
Your are a wonderful person. Thanks for sharing your information. I am just starting out and I think you are truly a gift to other soap makers just starting their journey. Thanks again.
I'm so appreciative of you sharing your knowledge with us! Also I cannot express how much I need this encouragement right now. I'm getting ready to restart a soap business. I had a little etsy shop business before but it was mainly a hobby. This time it will be my bread and butter. I'm excited but scared. Keeping my hands busy and my faith firmly planted in Christ is my plan!
You make me think about going beyond my kitchen & taking it to the next level. Love all your videos. I would like to know about getting into B&B & wholesale craft show, & how you came up with the design of your soaping studio. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you so much for sharing what you have learned. I am learning so much from you. I have bought boxes to put my soaps in, that's going to save so much time and it does look better.
Thank you for making this video I have been pondering my own beauty and skin care line of mynown but had no idea where to start expecially knowing the difference of retail and wholesale and taxes! I appreciate the knowledge you give about starting up and the potential amount of inventory I may need to keep on hand is enough to make tour head spin! You keep it informative and fun keep up the awesome work!
You are doing a super job! Your intro is good, but the intro music should be softened/volume lowered. I have to turn the intro down in volume and turn the volume back up to hear you. Almost all video editing programs allow this. I use filmora for my editing and love it. I would love to see you go over labels - Private label & wholesale vs retail, UPC codes - wholesale vs retail and more in depth on trade shows - how you decided or knew which one to go. I hope that gives you some ideas for your future videos!
Hi Joanna, I'd like to hear how you make the leap of buying 8 pounds of oil at a time to the drums you use. What is there in between, and how do you find those wholesalers?
Thanks so much! I can't wait till i can actually do a craft fair/ show. I am a little scared to take the leap... but what you said about the golden nugget analogy is great! it really made me think that YES! I can do this! I am just starting out on the soap adventure. It would be great to see how you build a new recipe from start to finish and how do test batches. thanks for being awesome and sharing with us!
You made me curious about your experiences on markets, you know like with flying tables and everything. And what a great speech you gave, thank you so much for inspiring us!!
Thank you so much on all this info. I would love to understand about the insurance and taxes whenever I decide to start to sell my soaps, getting close.
Love your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences! Can you talk about "bar code" sometime? I am always confused when considering wholesale my soaps to the stores or supermarket. Thanks million!
Can you talk about how hiring an employee affects your bottom line? I'm afraid to take that step. What things have to be considered from a financial standpoint? Taxes, insurance, etc. It just seems scary to me.
Thank you so much for this and all that you share. I hadn’t thought about doing larger scale production and wholesaling until I watched this video. Very intriguing. I’d be interested to know what your process is for creating recipes. Also the new haircut is adorable! #hearteyes
Hi, Joanna, you're very inspiring well done. I have just bought a small amount of colour for some lavender soap. I live in Australia, and really don't know who to buy my colour, pure essences and little mini sparkle sprits. can you point me to the site for good sale online that don't cost the earth for shipping? I can get my olive oil, coconut oil its just the other things to make the soap pretty You sure are passionate about your business good on you, WAY to go Girl . I can only hope to sell one bar of soap cheers have a great day
I have two statements in my contract that basically says: If i tailor a recipe for a specific business - I will not use that exact recipe for other sales. I do have a charge for creating recipes for a specific business, as this takes time and resources to arrive at a product your customer likes. My other statement basically says - If i sell a wholesale soap to a business and I decide to sell that same soap in my booth or online - I will always sell it at SRP and never undercut my customers. The easiest way though, if you want to avoid that, is to have wholesale lines and retail lines, in my opinion. What are your thoughts Joanna?
I never had a problem with selling certain soaps exclusively to one retailer. I discharge extra because it took me almost a year to come up with a formula they liked and a month to gather all the supplies.
Sweetie, last week I did just that and sold my first 150 bars to shops. Yay I'm so happy!! Feel like I'm on my way . thank you for all your great advice.

I thank God for you and your soap honey for teaching us so well.
God bless you both 😐

Hey Joanna, thanks for the info.
Awwww... I’m a nugget! 🤗 Joanna.. do you have an online store where we can order in bulk?
You are so Beautiful!!! Thank you sister
You're a jewel!
Your a star x
I don't know about you, but I'm an artisan NOT an artesian. Cute!!
I do wholesale (5 shops) and retail. But under contract I cannot carry my wholesale soaps in my shop (garage turned into storefront).
I never had a problem with selling certain soaps exclusively to one retailer. I discharge extra because it took me almost a year to come up with a formula they liked and a month to gather all the supplies.
I meant to say "I did charge extra"
Yes it can take a lot of time :)
@@dianedecker9493 What percentage of cost would you recommend charging extra for a custom recipe?
♥️♥️♥️♥️🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but the music at the beginning is painfully (literally - my ears hurt) loud.
Another great video. You rock.
