Just installed the devise on my brand new 2021 MK 7.5. It functions as advertised. However, popping out the button array was a challenge. Didn't just give it up as per the vid. I grabbed the instructions and lo and behold, I needed to use the pry tool to nudge out the bottom end of the array. Viola! She promptly gave it up. I'm happy now and looking forward to many years of enjoyable motoring without annoyance. A great $60 fix w/o messing with the coding. Thanks, Mr. Humble.
Thanks for the tip as i was struggling with my 2021. But, I had no luck luck on my 2021…..with the jumper in still defaults to on. The button still toggles on and off…..anyone?
Guessing all it does is simulates pushing the button when it gets power and reads the actual switch to determine the mode you want on or off. Pretty nifty and could be done for pretty much any car that has a button for it.
I had installed one of these in my 2020 golf r and it actually has some logic in the one I got from aliexpress. You can have it set to not turn off from start. To be the same as factory or you can have it remember the last start stop setting before shutting the car off. It's much better than programming it out.
Hilarious I just stumbled onto this video and I already installed the same part from Aliexpress last month on my 2019 Golf R. It works fantastic no messing with voltage or pulling sensor plug in the engine compartment.
Thats why i love old cars, less technology but a real driving experience.More technology one car build in,more problems in the futur.Greetings from Germany.
Thanks for the tip! I've had one delivered to Australia. It works a little differently on Australian-wired cars, evidently. It doesn't default to off, it defaults to however you leave the car when most recently shut down (which is always off for me so thats fine). If i have it switched on and bring the car to a stop (the engine turns off of course) and then get out of the car (i.e. open the door) the car shuts down completely. This is cool, as my main problem with start stop is my deafness, and sometimes I would not miss that I hadn't turned the car off and I would walk away only to return a couple of hours later to find the car turning itself on and off on and off (I rarely lock the car, which is the other foolproof way to ensure it is fully off). This harness has sorted that problem. Thanks again
Thank you sir. I just ordered one after watching this video. I can't stand that "feature" and have grown tired disabling it. I really hate when you have it disabled in Race mode and switch to Comfort and it turns itself back to enabled. Hopefully it fixes that too. Can you test that for us? As always thanks for leading the way and sharing with the VW community.

I recently bough a B8 Passat R Line and the stop start has been bugging me so much, the car is already on it's second Battery per the service records, which gives me reason not to use it.. So this is bloody amazing! Thanks!
My first experience with stop/start was in a diesel caddy with close to 300,000 km. I had no idea it had the feature. Got to roundabout, it shut off just as I went to go, it struggled to turn over, I'm half in the roundabout about to get barrelled by a semi when it finally came to life. Never been that scared in my life. If I ever get a new VW this would be ordered immediately.
This is very weird and not how this should work. My dad Jetta has it and I also have it in my Ram and in both cars, from my experience, the engine is back to life and ready to throttle up before your foot is completely off the brake. Just moving your foot on the pedal a tiny bit, without releasing the brake turns the engine back ON.
I finally got mine in. I had already been looking at these and was about to order when I saw your video then saw they sold out in less than a half hour! 😳 Anyway, my GTI is a 2021 and the buttons definitely don’t pop out that easily. There are four tabs that have to be pressed to release them from the trim. There was no way they were coming out without removing the whole trim. Not hard since it’s just removing the cubby and two screws, but thought it might be helpful for some people that might be struggling with the button removal. Now to figure out why I have a USB hub with an unused burgundy connector and a mystery brown one that goes to nothing (?) on an S trim GTI 🤷♂️🤣

I could not get the switches out, ended up doing the install with them in place. I didn't want to take the console out. I have noticed a sound though after install. Nice, I have to do this on my A5. And yes it's an emission thing, my car is labeled class A although it's a 2.0 TFSI because it has a start/stop system :) If you were to drive it as a company car, you'd have to pay less taxes and such.
Most stop start systems are just tacked onto existing cars that were never intended to have them. Most are clunky, slow and feel no different than having your engine stall out on you. The only place they belong is on hybrids, where you don't have to rely on the combustion powertrain for everything. I'm so used to getting into a car and just driving it without having to fiddle around with the settings every time I start it. Mods like this are a godsend.

START/STOP, I remember seeing a video where Volkswagen showed it off in the 80's as a option for some Polos. The wiper stalk had a button that you pressed to stop and start the engine at a traffic light.

I think it has to do with EPA fuel economy ratings as you say. They cannot say it gets x city mpg if the car isn't by default set up that way on every restart.
Why do people hate this so much? If you just learn how to use it its not a problem.. although i returned a whopping extra 3 miles by keeping it on vs off on two full tanks of gas

Well, I have disabled S/S system by coding for about 3 years and 70.000km no problem with battery or anything else. Even dealer didn´t said anything when I was at regular maintenance check. So no problem with warranty.
How would changing the threshold voltage limit possibly affect warranty coverage?
@@Hawk7886 dealers doesn't like any coding changes (if you ask dealer to turn this sh*t off, his answer will be "it's not possible to turn it off") . And by the law if I change anything like this, then vehicle is not suitable for road use, because I changed part of emission system. I know it's nonsense, but it's the law. At least in Europe
can you do this on a 2019 tiguan, or do you have to remove all the trim pieces?
Were to buy for Tiguan23? Whats it called?
Amazing content. Thank you! Too bad they are sold out.
Be a shame if someone cut one open and saw what the bits were between those two connectors...
Ali express has this in-stock for cheaper
We are taking Pre-Orders for our next production run. Orders will be fulfilled in the order they were placed so get in now before they sell out again! Thank you and if you're interested the patent was granted in July and details are all listed in the documents on the USPTO website. 😉
@@b2bfabrication Thank you for the reply. If I had seen that the other day I would have pre-ordered it on your website.
I did get one off ali express but would be interested to see how much better quality yours is. Maybe I'll get one for the wife's car.
@@thevuntzer you’re assuming these guys don’t just buy them from Ali express and quadruple the price!
That is is pretty cool! is this available for the Cupra and Seat cars?
I had reports on Audi forums that some cars (in my example Audi MK3 TT) don’t have start stop for NA markets (while in EU they have).
I guess this is decided on model basis?
not sure. Im pretty sure manuals have no start/stop. It may also be trim dependent around the world.
@@HumbleMechanic in Europe every manufactured car has start stop now. Regardless of transmission or trim. The only time I heard a German model not having start/stop is for NA market. (Audi TT MK3 is not being sold in NA as a manual)
Sold out so fast !!!
They blew out super fast!! They got more coming for y’all.
As Charles said these went very quickly once this video was posted. We are working hard to get inventory levels back to normal. Please keep an eye on our social media for any updates. Thank you.
Like the Golf GTE should default to GTE-mode when switching out of full electric b/c batteries depleted. ;) Great that these mods are possible.
Great information, do you think this will also work for a Skoda karoq 2020 ?
Fantastic. Would this work on my Skoda Karoq 1.5tsi. I hate the start stop always needing to be manually pressed off.
It'll be interesting to see if this same jumper can be used on the Mk8
They are working on mk8.
Will this work on a 2018 Tiguan? Been trying to code that crap out for months!
Depends which 2018. That’s split vin
Nice mod😎
Can I do this on my Alfa Romeo too. Your vid is brilliant and gives hope as I absolutely hate start stop as its ruined my Alfa battery :(
Hey buddy does this work with a golf Gte?
So, I’m looking to get a golf R but in a MT, does it have this feature on the MT as well? Or is this a automatic thing?
What will happen if I install this jumper piece, but do not do any changes to the voltage (7.6) in the open controller. I do not have a laptop or the software you show in the video. Thanks
Is the harness the same for a 2024 Jetta?
Is it possible to do this with the Lane Assist function and vcds ? My 2021 Tiguan and T-Roc activates every time i start the car
I ordered an ODB Eleven for that (and other things), but it was not available. I'm ordering this right away !
Will this work for a 19 mk7 jetta s?
Late to this and they were sold out. I look forward to them getting more in stock.
We are taking Pre-Orders for our next production run. Orders will be fulfilled in the order they were placed so get in now before they sell out again! Thank you!
@@b2bfabrication Thanks for letting me know. I got my order in. I am glad you are seeing success with this.
Came across this vid looking for a way to fix a stuck 'stop/start button' - I think crumbs are in there.... Anyway, this is a much better solution. I'm guessing it would work on an Australian equivalent Mk 7?
I have start/stop on my 2012 Passat Alltrack (B7). Have not found any cable for the B7 version, but I wonder if this could work on my car too...
I think it has to do with EPA fuel economy ratings as you say. They cannot say it gets x city mpg if the car isn't by default set up that way on every restart.
Does this work for the 2021 tiguan r se
Why do people hate this so much? If you just learn how to use it its not a problem.. although i returned a whopping extra 3 miles by keeping it on vs off on two full tanks of gas
