Annie Fischer's Beethoven recordings are simply the best; she is second to none! She is one of the few who really delivers a satisfying performance. Beethoven must be played directly with strict timing rhythmic energy; otherwise, it loses its flow. Far too many pianists change tempo arbitrarily, but not Fischer.

Totally spontaneous yet it has the quality of Inevitability - the Hallmark of Beethoven. Thank you for giving us this music.

Personally, I find this recording the best among other recordings of this sonata. Its got the clarity, power, the softness as well as the hard pounding sections covered like how I imagine this sonata to sound😅

I kept looking for a version I liked. Richter I found too fast but after him many sounded boring and overly miserable, thank you for posting this version, so far I have not found I like more!
Truly a master. One of my favorite pianist. Underappreciated and underrated because she was a woman in a mans world! Funny thing she was a chain smoker and orchestras nicknamed her Annie Ashtray! I have several of her recordings on vinyl and every one special to me!

Gilels was one of the greatest interpreters Of Beethoven and also Solomon Thay are all great Artists but so different from each Thay are Artists not Robots lots of people Do not understand This
Wonderful to actually see Fischer on film . Her intensity must have made her a very different pianist in the 1920's and later . Could she charm in Schumann like or DeLarrocha Novaes ,,Bruchollerie who never could have had Fischer's technique . If someone played this without telling me I'd say this player has a lot of fire but plays this music in a pianistic way not the music is first conception unlike a completely different generation Ashkenazy 's or Brendel 's depth in this music .

Annie Fischer is just , and only , playing for herself . Not to be listened , no , just only for herself . And she is telling (us) a fantastic story . Something out of her intimate life . Privacy . Something harsh , stiff , it's painful and aching , but it is so "noble" ... I have never listen something like "that" . She respects the master of Bonn . She knows that he wrote the Missa Solemnis . But she do not care .... Beethoven as a walker-on .... Hah ! Annie is telling something , explaining , and more of all , expressing it . Something very special . Intimate women relation . precious stuff . Going far . Very far . Sensuality . Even more . And more again . And this whole "thing" , with no one drop of "romanticism" , no self-wailing or lamentation upon her own soul . Only this story . Only love . I am quite confused .
