A great pianist, a great woman: her way of playing the piano leaves me wordless... so authoritative, so deep, so effortlessly fluid... A real treasure for us
One of the greatest pianists of our time. I was lucky only once to hear her live at the Prague Spring in the second half of the 1960s. It was an unforgettable experience!
What an awesome pianist , Too bad she was not as well known outside of Europe ! RIP Annie Fischer , Your Schubert , Beethoven and Mozart and Bartok are sublime .
I hope not. Annie Fischer is a wonderful artist. Years ago I was recommended by a music lover in a small music shop in Budapest to buy the set of Hungaraton CDs of her studio recordings of the complete Beethoven piano sonatas. This was my first introduction to her playing. They are thrilling. I pass on the recommendation !
Well, yes Chaconne and Passacaglia are two different terms for the same type of piece of music. But so far I haven't seen anyone else name this piece Passacaglia. But who knows what they did back in 1920 or so...
I only know because I have a Phillips piano roll of Ella Rafelson from C.1920 playing an identical arrangement of this Chaconne - on the label it says "Handel - D'Albert". Annie Fischer was from a generation which no doubt was hugely influenced by D'Albert's reputation.
This to me doesn't seem life the D'Albert edition because the LH octave passages of v.8 are omitted. I've been comparing this performance with my score (Dover) and there are subtle differences - for example, the LH octaves on my edition are single notes. Also she varies which repeats she does of the variations. Does anyone know what edition this may be, and are the repeats an artistic licence thing? Thank you for your responses!
that generation = put my ego aside, get into character *the composers... PLAY. this generation = MY EGO ego ego, tits, muscles, technique, designer clothing, short skirts, electric instrument... social media selfie and marketing wankager.

Love this! Murray Perahia also does this chaconne beautifully
Annie Fischer
excellent there is nothing else to say!!!! just beautiful.!!!!!!!

@@Bulbophile You're right, When Ms. Fischer came to Boston Ma. in the 80's she played Carnival, how could I forget that magnificent night.

I always can't believe this is a work of Baroque time! Totally... romantic :D
Even now the most splendid performance I know of this magnificent piece of Handel.
Seeing her play in this clip is a great pleasure.
So wonderful, so sublime. Words are so terribly insufficient when it comes to expressing my appreciation and gratitude for this. Thank you Eribani!
I think that this would make a great recital opener , especially with the verve that Ms. Fischer brings to it .
Heavenly music and brilliant rendition.
Great posting.Thx.
Beautiful, awe inspiring!
What an amazing interpretation!
Thank you. The music flows through her so naturally.

An amazing interpretation from Annie Fischer
Marvelous musician.
This is in fact, an arrangement of the Chaconne by Eugen D'Albert, hence the "beefing up" of the left hand part.
Marvellous thank you for these wonderful videos Fischer is a great inspiration to me thanking you once again.
Ez gyönyörű!
Hatalmagos!

Well, this is not the Passacaglia Harpsichord piece by Händel
This is Chaconne in G !

why she play only some refrains, not all? however, awesome performance :)
I saw here (and heard her) together with Hans Vonk many many years ago in London. Is anyone interested to receive her signature..? (programmbook)
you may have it, of course but I can't give you my email here..
Perhaps the piece is known by two different names?
That's perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but surely they could have given her even ONE of schlockmeister Alfred Brendel's THREE discs!
