  • In this video I replace the strut mounts on my 1997 BMW E36 M3/4/5. After wanting to install a strut tower brace and breaking a bolt on the old mount I was forced to replace both front strut mounts. I bought Corteco brand mounts as they are a manufacturer for many automotive companies including BMW. Thanks for watching!
As noted, a big thank you to Naperville Automotive Solutions! You can find out more about Geoff and his shop here: www.naperville...
Also, here is the information that I found regarding the torque specs for the hardware. Be sure to verify this information and for your specific vehicle. I am not a mechanic and just like working on my cars, so please be sure to research what is right for your specific vehicle.

Awesome video man! How much did your go-to shop charge just to replace those top mounts brother?

Thanks! Overall it is in excellent condition. She has her "beauty marks" for sure but looks really good for 24 years old, IMO.

The shop could not install a new bolt? I know they rather sell you two new strut mounts.

Not likely. The bolts are not threaded in but permanently attached to the base of the hat. More importantly, it just made sense to replace them since I am not sure when they were last replaced. It was a fun project with low cost and high benefit. Thanks for watching and the comment!

Sorry about the poor video quality and messed up thumbnail. It all looked good but I must have done something wrong with the export/upload!

so you showed your porsche when the actual strut mount change happened. Great. I learned nothing from this. The issue is the top nut tightening. Can't do it while in a car because it is offset and can't do it outside because the strut shaft keep spinning.
